As with a previous review, we booked the annex not realising how difficult it would be to access with luggage or a car. Due to the parking being about a 10 minute walk away, the narrow cobblestone street and stairs, we decided to just pack...More

We, a family of four, enjoyed a night at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Heidelberg. We found the staff to be friendly, helpful and courteous, the room to be large, quiet and decorated in period. Our room overlooked the Neckar river - a lovely view...More

Having spent many years in Germany, I seriously doubt that there are many places open over the period 24-26 Dec. I believe the small, family owned type hotels will be open with a reduced staff, the large corporate hotels will be open as usual. I would bet that 90% of the restaurants will be closed, and none of the tourist attractions (boat rides, castle visits etc.) will be open. As an aside, I wanted to spend Christmas in Rome, Italy one year, however when I read the reviews and learned that everything is closed, I cancelled my plans. I fear that you might face the same circumstances - you will have a hotel room, but everything else in the city and surrounding area (Mannheim, Speyer etc.) will be closed.
