I wish I could put 6 stars. What an experience! We unfortunately only stayed 2 nights, I wish we would have stayed a week.
First, the setting in the Black Forest is gorgeous. The building (the main one until we realized almost every building around it belong to them as well) is very nice and the curb appeal huge. As soon as we slowed down the car in front of the entrance, we were welcomed by the bell boy who took charge of our luggage and parked the car. And from then on, the service was for 2 days absolutely faultless AND extremely friendly. This rare combination of perfection. Whether it was the front desk, the dinner staff, the breakfast one, everyone was friendly and welcoming and everyone smiled as we approached them or just passed by. The only exception was the barman, who gave us the cold shoulder, but in hindsight I wonder whether it was because we went there before getting changed for dinner and were maybe underdressed.
The hotel is huge but does not feel so, everywhere is cozy and cute, from hallways to rooms, to restrooms to the grounds around the buildings. Our room was not huge but spacious enough for us. The restroom was separated from the bathroom (a must for a 5*), itself spacious with powerful shower. Beds were comfortable and balcony was great to get some fresh air.
The spa is probably one of the best I have encountered. It has several pools indoor, several pools outdoor, one of them with direct access from inside so it is not cold and with a great range of hydrotherapy jets, just awesome. The views over the village with the church bells tolling while bathing is just the icing on the cake.
Dinner was an amazing experience (and I am only talking about the hotel restaurant for the half board customers as the 3* Michelin restaurant was closed on the days we were there) and the cheese and dessert buffets (say room rather than buffets) just the biggest I have ever seen.
Breakfast there was another amazing experience with probably the largest choice I have seen in Europe, and all of the highest quality, whether breads, cereals, jams and jellies, juices, etc. They also had a station for customized eggs and mine were the best I had in my entire 2 weeks in Europe.
We regretfully had to leave on the 3rd day and the first thing that came to my mind was when I would be back, as we did not have a chance to try the hiking opportunities around the hotel. We landed there as Baden Baden was sold out due to a conference and I am so happy in hindsight the Brenner in Baden Baden was full as I would have never experienced this gem. I know I am spending a month there the day I retire, as it is close to Strasbourg, Colmar, Baden-Baden and with all the hiking opportunities around, one could spend probably a few weeks without getting bored.
An absolute, perfect, experience.

Dear guest, Praise and recognition are the highest level of esteem and the biggest motivator for all of us. They help us achieve what we are striving for: to always do our best and to grant our guests a perfect holiday and an unforgettable experience. I am very pleased to read that we succeed in achieving this ambition, which makes us very proud indeed. With pleasure I forwarded your compliments to the entire Bareiss team and I am sure you can imagine how happy they were to hear about it. Looking forward to welcoming you again at some point soon, we send you our kind regards from the Black Forest. Sincerely yours, Hannes Bareiss

There is nothing to fault the hotel.
Rooms are big and traditionally furbished. Everything is spic and span. Beds are extremely comfortable.
Breakfast is phenomenal: excellent quality of food and service and a choice that is endless.
The pools outside and inside are marvelous.
Dinner is very traditional and quite heavy but wonderfully tasteful. Half board is practically included (or very cheap extra on the otherwise expensive rooms); but staying here a week and tasting all the courses will give you some extra kilo's at the end.
This is certainly a hotel where i will come back but is for me rather a place for the settled people.

We choose Hotel Bareiss for our Summer holidays during Corona times and it was a perfect choice. The hotel, spa and outdoor pool and lawn are very well maintained; lots of efforts are done to comply with safety regulations. The food is outstanding. We had the privilege of celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary in Restaurant Bareiss, with special treats from the very attentive staff. The nature surroundings are superb; each day we ventured out in the Black forest for hiking or cycling, and rented the hotel e-bikes. Very well run property. We will be delighted to return, in Summer or any other season

We stayed here on our way back from Switzerland. We typically stay in France but because of C19 that was not possible this time so we booked Hotel Bareiss. A slight detour but well worth it! We had a family suite, room 101, which was perfect as the huge living room had a double sofa bed and an addiitonal hidden bed in the wall. I believe the suites are over 100 m2 so plenty of space. The room has a huge walk in dressing room and a bath room with a massive bath, shower and even its own Sauna. There were plenty of towels, robes etc all of a very very good quality. We had mixed weather but it really did not matter much as the hotel has everything you need indoors. The spa and pool area is great with 5 or more pools of different temperature, some salt water, some half indoor, half outdoor. Breakfast is a 9.9/10 and dinner the same. We did not visit the 3 Star Michelin restaurant but just had our meals in the normal hotel restaurant. Really, really good food with a nice selection of wines. I always enjoy drinking wine from the local aeea we visit and they had some superb stuff on the wine list. My wife and daughters went to the Spa for various treatments and said it was absolutely perfect. The little shopping arcade underneath the hotel was great too with clothing stores, jewellery shop etc etc. All the staff I came across from management to cleaners were super friendly and nicely dressed and there were lots of them. The hotel is very very well run. You feel that from the moment you arrive until you leave again. It is a 6 Star establishment in my opinion. We are already planning a 4 days stay in October just to relax and eat well!

Why the 4 times bareiss?
It's simple.
We have visited all 5/4* S hotels in the area in recent years. Once that was enough for us to go to Bareiss again and again.
Why?
As Swiss we want to experience the Black Forest in Germany. We don't want to have to speak English, we don't want black-clad serving staff, we want a clean room where you can look under the bed, we don't want to hear the excuse that it is difficult to find staff in Europe, we want to see and experience the young people being trained, we want to have peace in the spa and warm water. We want to feel comfortable.
That's why we're going to be....... Go bareiss.

We had booked half board with the family. The day began in the morning with a breakfast buffet that left nothing to be desired! It was stocked with top-quality goods and was constantly being replenished. Incidentally, you have your own table for the entire stay, which is also very pleasant.
From 1:30 p.m. you can eat cake for free, inside or outside. I recommend the Bareiss cake or the Black Forest gateau! The Black Forest cup is also available for a fee but worth every cent!
In the evening there is a multi-course menu, which is also cooked to a high standard. Before that you can help yourself to a salad buffet. This also applies to dessert. Children also have their own buffet.
There are other restaurants in the hotel, of which we visited the Dorfstuben and the Bareiss restaurant. We have rated both separately here.
Overall, the Bareiss is ideal as a family hotel and highly recommended. There are many childcare options and play options for children. The sauna and pool area are also positive.
You can find out all the activities on the Bareiss website.
In this hotel you are independent of the weather, as there is so much to do indoors. If you then add the outdoor activities, nothing is left to be desired!
All employees are highly motivated and very friendly and helpful, it is a pleasure to be a guest here! You can feel that the hotel is owner-managed, which is guaranteed by the presence of members of the Bareiss family.
We say thank you and are already looking forward to our next visit!

A wonderful, dog friendly hotel in a gorgeous location, and beautifully run. Food is consistently excellent, with service somehow simultaneously both transparent and friendly The spa is expansive and faultless, treatments are always memorable, among the best anywhere. This a true Relais et Chateaux establishment, consistently excellent in all areas.

We stayed here in August 2022 to celebrate a private occasion.
I've never experiences such good service, from check-in, to food to anything else. The breakfast bar is not just enormous, but also very good. There were over 20 (!!) different bread choices!
The SPA areas is very nice. The massage could have been better.
The room ("big Double room") was very big indeed (nearly 50sqm), with the very very minor comment that the light actually made some noise (which I never experienced before).
I really hope going back there one day, I was rarely so relaxed after a hotel stay.

Beautiful surroundings and a nice five-star hotel, but sometimes the level is not met. I have stayed in many relay chateaus, but I really miss this recognition in this hotel. The rooms are nice but dated, small bathroom, we stayed in a penthouse. Asked four times to have water in the room without gas, but this request was never fulfilled. The minibar in the room is very mini in fact for a five star hotel. The dinner itself went well, but small and balanced portions. The salad buffet is grandly displayed, but it doesn't contain a soul, very sadly arranged. The breakfast is the same, cold pancakes and waffles are kept warm in hot dishes, not freshly prepared. The service during a sunny day around the outdoor pool leaves a lot to be desired, one person to serve dozens of people, few tables for lunch, no professional approach. The staff is generally very friendly and helpful. Very tasty cakes for the candy lovers! It must be taken into account that during the school holidays it is in fact a children's hotel where peace and relaxation are hard to find, even during dinner it is childhood.

Use the spa:)
Is it still possibly to come just for breakfast or afternoon tea and anyone know the prices please ?
It's five Euro
The first time I visited I went there for lunch and the second time I stayed for two days. It is a resort type hotel.
No problem. They have many rooms with easy access.
There seems to be very little air conditioning. Certainly not in our large family room.
