After a visit to Villefranche sur mer in 2014, we wanted to bring our sons & grandchildren to stay again and to see some of the sights that we visited then and at other times during our European explorations. So, of course we were pleased that our pleasant memories served us well and it was even better than our prior visit. It was remodeled and modified with some upgrades too.
It is a nice facility and despite some in-room ceiling AC water dripping upon checking in, the rooms for the 5 of us were more than adequate.
The view of the bay is absolutely lovely and with a large balcony/deck, it is a perfectly serene place to enjoy the view!
Hearty petit-déjeuner available.
It is a good value 3 star.

One of the better 3 star hotels we’ve stayed at.
Perfect location , everything is close, walking distance to shops and restaurants and to the main road that allows you to conveniently visit other neighboring towns.
Rooms are small but very clean with nice terraces offering you a fabulous view.
The staff is very nice and accommodating.
We’d will come back when we return to the area.

The Hotel -Restaurant La Flore is a small hotel located in Villefranche-sur-Mer . It is a perfect hotel to stay if you are visiting Monaco and it is not far from the Airport Nice Cote d'Azur.
Our room was confortable, tidy and clean , and it had an huge balcony with an amazing view of the old harbour & bay (see pictures & video). The hotel has a good restaurant and a small pool , and there is complementary parking which was very useful. The WIFI connection was good and cheap. If you are not driving, there is a bus stop right next to the hotel, where you can catch a bus either to Monaco or Nice . We had dinner at a restaurant close to sea, and a healthy breakfast at the hotel.
I can recommend it , one gets good value for the price !

Considering this is a hotel in the south of france where temperatures easily exceed 30-35 degrees in the summer I am so confused that there are no facilities provided to ensure guests have access to cold water. There isn’t a mini fridge in the room, glasses available for tap water or free bottled water provided. At night we would have to drink tepid tap water in the bathroom from a paper cup which doesn’t really suffice when you’re boiling and paying ~£150 a night
The aircon was very old and poor. I would guess it kept the room at 25/26 degrees and would be turned off when the room was cleaned so didn’t provide much relief from the heat when we came back after a day out
The room itself was spacious and the bathroom was also nice. There were 2 extra beds in our double room which we could dump our stuff on. The provision of beach and pool towels was pleasant
It’s a budget hotel so can’t expect much but would rather a room half the size that had well functioning aircon and a mini fridge
The pool was small but nice and got the sun until 4.30pm

I stayed here for one night as the hotel next door was booked up.
The pool was a bit sad and small -so didn't use it. Cheap, plastic pool furniture around it made it less appealing too.
My room was comfortable enough- but I felt as I was staying in my great aunt's house -in a room that nobody goes to anymore. It was a bit dated. The bathroom was spacious though.
I called the front desk to get the wifi code but the guy wanted me to come back upstairs to the front desk (I was at the bottom of the hotel by the pool) to get the code. Why not just give it to me over the phone? I can speak French so why the "must get code in person?". That was strange.
I found this sort of like a budget style hotel in terms of the room, the hotel itself, the pool. Ok for one night but not longer. It was quiet with absolutely no view at all. It was sort of sad.

If you like being treated like a child stay here. On check in asked if a store was nearby to buy water, wine etc. Only answer given was they will sell it to us. Found a store across the street then told you cannot eat or drink in the rooms. Imagine after having to upgrade our premium sea view room in order to get a terrace how that felt. No having a glass of vino and a nice Camembert at days end. At breakfast they did not stock enough supplies so even if you waited for additional eggs etc the two ladies simply ignored you. We had a wonderful time in France. The people were incredible but these two were the exception. If you’re idea of fun and relaxation is staying in a boarding school run by strict unhappy nuns then you’ve found your place.

Wonderful couple/owners made us feel right at home. Amazing views. Super value. Some hills between hotel and the town, but no real issue. Because of the location there’s no real need for a car as the buses and trains are quite convenient. Highly recommend.

I really can't say enough nice things about this hotel. The owner-couple run a very tight, clean and security based property. It really is a gem of a hotel. Knowing that, the relaxed atmosphere and the French way of life should help you enjoy this hotel as the speed of things are slow. But we knew that and it didn't bother us in the least.

Great place to stay. The views from my room & the pool were spectacular. The staff was very friendly & helpful. I liked the location-easy to walk to the old port. The breakfast buffet was generous -even made me an omelette! I loved the pool-nice towels and chairs poolside.

I stay here every year. It's a small, charming, old fashioned family run place with no riviera decadence. The views are oustanding. The morning breakfast is so simple and delicous. Book a terrace room. Yes the pool is a bit meh. But I don't bother with any swimming pool when the ocean is a 10 minute walk away.
You also have two bus stops nearby. The train is a 15 minute easy walk away.

The pool isn't very big and although there are some sunbeds, which have padded cushions on them, I wouldn't say there were enough for everyone staying in the hotel.
The position that the pool is in I would say that the pool would not have full sun all day long. We arrived at about 5pm and it was in the shade then.
Hello,
Sorry, can't remember! Didn't use it anyway... as there are plenty of nice restaurants in Villefranche, closer to the seashore.
B.
Hello,
Walking with luggage from the Villefranche railway station to the Flore hotel should take about 15-20 minutes..., going up through the uphill streets of an old village with old pavement and many stairs! Consider using local public transportation or, better, a taxi!
Alternately, from Monaco (and from Nice), there are many buses to Villefranche (1 EUR) that would provide a much better solution. The bus stops are about 300 m away from the hotel and it is a horizontal street on the hillside... : )
Good luck! Enjoy your stay!
