Friendly boutique hotel in prime location next to Vence old town. Multi-story parking options nearby and a great base for visiting local sights. Delicious continental breakfast overlooking the lively square.
The Hotel la Victoire is a simple establishment, more a B&B than a hotel (it is not open 24/7), right on the Place du Grande Jardin, home to Vence's outdoor market. My spotlessly clean room was simply furnished, and breakfast was minimal, but both met my needs -- it was pleasantly serviceable.
Very central location, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, shopping; with several inexpensive carparks a short walk away. Quite small en-suite room, but spotlessly clean and very comfortable bed. Lovely view onto the street. Only had breakfast once as we preferred to sit outside at neighbouring cafes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only glitch was that I’d paid through Expedia beforehand and had forgotten that I’d prepaid; the hotel charged me again for the stay. Partly my fault, but it would have been nice for the hotel on checking in to confirm that I’d pre-paid, as most hotels do. No matter, it was refunded within a week to me. For location, cleanliness and comfort, fantastic value for money; we’d stay again.
When we arrived thee was no way to enter the hotel. The phone number on the door was not answered. Thankfully someone eating at the side restaurant told us the code to enter. Our room was hot with no fan for cooling or drowning out the noice of the people partying below early into the morning. Very difficult visit for our first night in France when we were so tired.
The hotel is located in front of a publiic square. There is a farmers market in the square this morning. We have the windows open and can hear the muffled sounds as they set up. It is a very pleasant activity to wake up to. The windows do a very good job of blocking all the noise from the cafes directly below. There are 4 or 5 cafes surrounding the hotel. Its a great location. We are steps away from delicious food, the old town and it's shops. The hotel was closed when we arrived, but we called and the receptionist came by and assisted us. She was pleasant & helpful. Once you check in you are given a code for the door. It is not always opened, which is why you call for assistance. Our room is on the 3rd floor and it is very basic, but also very comfortable. It was clean and met our needs for this quick trip to Vence. One of our bags went missing from our Norwegian flight, but the simple charm of the town & the hotel Victoire has lulled me out of a dark mood. The struggle is real people!…
