The staff were warm and friendly from my telephone call to ask about taking a dog ( no problem), request for a quiet room and quick response to the booking - to the welcome on arrival. It was the very end of the season and the hotel had very few guests, but even so the personnel attention was much appreciated. The honesty bar with coffee, teas, drinks etc. was well stocked and with high quality tea and coffee. The room was light and airy with a balcony looking over the olive groves, large bathroom with super soft towels and lovely both slats ( had to take a bath then). there was a good choice for breakfast and overall. I wish I could have used the lovely pool but the strong Mistral was not conducive for a swim- next time. Overall, a pleasant , short break. my only comment is that the sound proofing between room sis not so good - the sounds of the bathroom and voices next door were very audible. Fortunately , our neighbour guests also went to sleep quite soon, so not too much of an issue- but next time I would ask for a room at the end of the corridor . I left my toilet bag in the hotel and the staff were so kind as to send it back to me - as I said, great service.

So we started out from Alicante on a road trip to Florence. My husband suggested to include St Paul de Vence and it was absolutely worth the visit. I read a lot of reviews before choosing Hotel Les Messugues. We had a one night stay and I wish it could’ve been longer. The hotel is close to St Paul de Vence, just a short 5 min drive, with ample parking near the town. Arrival at the hotel (which is well sign posted en route) is through a private gate and there you find a charming, well maintained property. We had a very warm welcome into the ‘rustic style’ (not old fashioned) reception by Sylvia, a lovely, friendly lady who explained the room and hotel facilities; a dining room for breakfast, overlooking the orchard €16 pp. Sylvia explained their ‘honesty bar’ whereby you serve yourself drinks and then write what you have taken into a book along with your room number (Ice dispenser, hot water too etc). A quaint lounge area with large tv and beautifully upholstered furniture. We were shown to our room and provided with a key and a fob to open the main gate so that we could return, with easy access, after a night out. The room was absolutely spotless and felt fresh. The bed linen was very good quality. Double doors opening onto a quaint mini balcony, you just knew you were in France. The shower was excellent, good pressure and v hot water. TV and safe in the room other than that quite basic but enough. The pool area is so lovely, it is calm and serene, more beautiful than the pictures. In the morning we were welcomed to the breakfast by Baptiste, who was so friendly and informative, explaining our options. Buffet included a choice of quality French cheeses (way better than we had experienced in a town restaurant the night before!) artisan breads, marinated fresh peaches, pineapple, yoghurts, honey, cereal, croissants, ham, cakes... And to make hubby happy and almost impossible to find in boutique hotels, bacon, eggs and sausage (we’re English) I must say I loved the cheeses and the peaches. All in all, what a find! If you’re scouring trip adviser, like I did, to find a hotel close to St Paul de Vence then look no further... and I’m fussy!

A Quaint hotel just a short distance from the beautiful arty village of St Paul De Vence. Full of character, clean and well presented with pool facilities & a pretty little bistro adjoining the main hotel. A strange system in place to obtain drinks whilst staying at the hotel. You have to help yourself and record it in a book .. payable on checkout...

We had been staying in a villa near st Paul de Vence, and needed to prolong our stay in the area because of strikes by ground staff at Barcelona. We have had 2 nights here in a small apartment, and will have our final night in a double room in the hotel. The staff have been extremely helpful, especially with regard to my need for gluten free food - the Bistro Alain Llorca by the pretty swimming pool has served lovely light meals at lunchtime (with gluten free rolls) and an interesting and tasty choice in the evening. It really is a very relaxing place to stay.

We have traveled to France on several occasions, but not to the south. Being a family of four, locating family accommodations in a hotel can be challenging. We found his beautiful, quaint and utterly charming boutique hotel for our first night before heading to the east side of Nice for our stay near the ocean, this one evening was the perfect start to our trip and could not have been more pleased. Other reviews I have read shock me because we enjoyed the most graciously welcoming host, her name was Prune. We were fresh off of a three leg flight and she pointed us to a wonderful restaurant in Saint Paul de Venice; and we were grateful for our spacious and clean family room that fit us perfectly. Our children are 11 and 13, well-traveled and behaved I mention this because it is a very quiet and serene setting; I wish we had honeymooned here! The beds were soft, the charm incredible; the breakfast was delightful, local selections and high quality breakfast items. What more could one want than to find a hidden beautiful hotel on a little vineyard, with simple pleasures and warm hospitality? We will return. Thank you for having us!! The Wilson Family
