Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Great stay for our family of 5 . Really clean and tidy, loads of space, quirky details from its history as a hospital which make it interesting. Really comfy beds, very quiet had a fantatsic night sleep. Shower pressure awesome. The manager was really helpful and friendly and very accomodating when we got a flat tyre and had to stay past the 10am checkout. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a well priced option that isn't just 4 bland walls but are looking for something a bit different

Historic Building and rooms, the building was once a hospital but has been slowly renovated and converted into hotel rooms and a restaurant with photos on the walls showing the renovations. The owner very friendly and allowed us to check in early. The oil heater provided was enough to heat the small room and there was parking outside the unit. Ther are limited tv channels but that's okay as there is a pergola for you to take in the views of Huntly including watching the sunset. The Manor is close to town where there is a supermarket and restaurants and it's only a 30-minute drive to the base shops in Hamilton.

Great refuge from Auckland...quiet, clean and pleasant people. Walk to town and Lake Hakanoa walkway and gardens. Former hospital and maternity annexe tastefully converted. Easy to locate providing spectacular views over Waikato River.

Historic brick building with real charm with panoramic views of the Waikato River, township and countryside. Friendly management and very reasonable room rates. Why would you stay anywhere else in Huntly?

A pleasant surprise to have such wonderful accommodation in Huntly. Had reasonably low expectations but it's a brilliant place to stay. Even though it was old and obviously a hospital 100yrs ago it was spotlessly clean, quiet, great hosts, and an excellent choice.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were very friendly. Room was clean. Had all the necessary amenities we needed. Location was tranquil with lovely views over Huntly. Buildings and grounds are just beautiful. Absolute value for money for our family of 6. Great find. Would love to stay again.

We liked this place. Didn't know what to expect as we were just looking for a place close to dirt bike track and passing through from Wellington.
Its ... quirky. Very friendly staff, great views and reasonable rates.
We recommend it, and would stay again.

We've stayed in 25 different accommodations during the last 4 months and this has been the worst. We booked in good faith through Booking.

First we arrived to damp room that smelt musty and the beds were damp so we mentioned this and the owner came to change rooms. We were then put in a tiny room which seemed ok but for the money- not really acceptable but the payment had already been taken at the booking, what could we do so late in the day?!

We put the electric blanket on for 7 hours to try to get rid of the dampness in this bed and had to sleep with it switched on a low temperature to stop the cold damp feeling. The room smells of damp and made our clothes smell musty, we were so glad we'd only bought overnight bags in and not our suitcases.

Then we went to use the shower which was filthy, the area in the kitchen filthy too, disgracefully so when people are paying to use these rooms. We tried to clean some of it off but it was set like congealed foul goo on the floor between the fridge and unit and would need some strong detergents or heat to remove.

The towels were also damp and had a nasty smell, in all this was getting worse by the minute. We concluded we could survive for one night. We made sure none of our belongings were on the floor and decided to depart early in the morning.

The kettle will not fit under the tap to fill it so you have to make several trips filling a cup as no jug is provided. The water bottle in the fridge will not fit under the tap for refill. There is not proper sink for washing up dishes and utensils provided, just a very hand basin into which the plates hardly fit. No detergent, no cleaning cloths, these have all been provided in earlier accommodations. The provision of utensils is poor and the amenities consist of two tiny bottles of Shampoo and soap

I have taken photos of the filth, and a video so that no mistake can be made that the images were taken here.

To say this hotel is poor is an understatement.
