almost fine location- 39o C and we reached the hotel from Dunkirk for the air-conditioning. They did not disclose the malfunctioning, suggesting that we may keep our windows open. The night was stifling and noisy (we left the windows open). Room adequate. Mini bar undeservedly below par and the drawing room areas nonexistent. Unfortunately the understaffed reception had to overpeform. He suggested that the installation was not designed for such temperatures.

We had really high hopes for this hotel in Lille as we would normally stay out of the city and was looking forward to being so central. Arrival was very easy, we had pre-booked parking and reception quickly pointed us to the garage when we pulled up at the front of the hotel at €16 a night we thought this was reasonable being so close. We had booked the Prestige room which was lovely but the air conditioning was awful, no matter how low you set it nothing changed so can only assume it was manually set by the hotel. We therefore slept really badly with it being so hot and being that we stayed on a Friday and Saturday night it was very noisy so take ear plugs. I wouldn't bother with breakfast, there is a coffee shop serving pastries nearby and would recommend this instead. The option of not having your towels etc. cleaned each night provides you with a 'token' each which we used towards a glass of champagne which was great. Overall a good hotel in a great location but due to the noise and poor air conditioning I wouldn't stay again.

Booking a Best Western, during our recent visit to Lille, France, seemed uncertain, at best. I assumed we'd be in a rather predictable and dull setting - the hotel is every bit as delightful as the city, itself. Friendly staff, beautifully designed and outfitted rooms, great proximity to the historic centre and wonderful restaurant recommendations by the desk staff. Breakfast was another treat and totally unexpected. This place is a mist-go-to, for anyone spending any time in Lille.

A member of Best Western and having stayed at this hotel several times, whether by booking it direct or as part of a larger team, I know this place well but am however very disappointed with its overall value for money. The hotel is centrally located indeed, but is nothing than a 1960s place that’s been refurbished into a somewhat modern place. That’s why it shocked me to see skyrocketing prices (using the pretext of a medical event in town) many times a year. Reception staff is not that friendly and will make keep you in the wait without any problem. The bar closes at 10pm or earlier, whatever your plans are. The breakfast is awful (scrambled eggs made from powder, among other oddities) with ultra poor service. The pinnacle at Best Western Lille Why Hotel is a recent online reservation that I had to cancel unfortunately 48 hours before deadline as I had to get admitted to hospital. First, the Best Western mobile app is a mess and will confuse you with terms and conditions — like you can read cancellation is free of charge and in fact it’s not. Then, even if this was an “act of God”, the hotel receptionist made a point at applying the strictest rule ever and cashing in the full amount prepaid without pity — and being a Best Western patron does not make any difference, does not make them offer a voucher or any creative solution. Going back to this place again: “why”?

We loved this hotel! The rooms are newly decorated, with all the facilities you could want including, specially for the Brits, perhaps, tea making facilities. The machine also makes coffee and there is a fridge with snacks. Staff could not be more helpful offering a no fuss response to our requests. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant offering a keenly priced lunch menu as well as a range of hot and cold snacks in the bar in the evening. Locals eat here. This hotel also has the best environmental policy of any we have visited in the World - you are actually rewarded for being green!
