We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and our expectations of French hotels were surpassed! For some unknown reason we were upgraded to a junior suite which was definitely bigger then the usual "shoebox" rooms I have seen and slept in. The rooms have nice, dark wooden floorboards which is a definite advantage over hotel carpets. The look and feel was kind of Asian fusion, very subtle with some slight style discrepancies.
Rooms were clean, it seemed the cleaning staff really did their job.
Above all we were overwhelmed by the reception staff's friendly attitude and eagerness to help with guests' little problems. I don't think this was because we could communicate in French!

The breakfast buffet was nothing to write home about, but then France is not known for lush breakfast.

Location pretty good, not exactly right in the centre, but all within walking distance and very close to the Garonne.

Definitely our first choice for another stay in Toulouse.

Pleasant hotel with dark wooden floors, comfortable beds and bathrooms. Contemporary design which is a welcome change from the dark oppressive floral wallpapers, ceilings and walls that are so common in France. The hotel does not have its own car park so the nearest paying car park is a good ten minutes drive away round the one way system so not easy if you are on your own in a hire car. Have breakfast in your room as the 'terrace' is literally on the pavement outside. Staff very friendly and helpful, changing dinner reservations for us when we were delayed en route.

Excellent restaurant directly opposite (although there were several people smoking at nearby tables when we went). We only stayed one night but would stay there again. Ideal for a one night stay if you are flying in late on the way to somewhere or want a city centre base. Toulouse is a great city so worth an explore.

We stayed at the Hotel Garonne for three nights in early October. Our room (room 15) was comfortable with lots of storage space but we were constantly hot as the environmental system in this room does not include a/c (!) We could open the window however although as the hotel is directly on a fairly quiet but often used cut-through between two main roads we were subjected to some pretty full-on fumes. Also whilst the bathroom was nice, the shower was not fixed to the wall (hand shower only) which is not ideal. Would suggest requesting Rooms 11 or 12 which are on the ground floor but on the other side of the building away from the street. Also if a shower is important, make sure you request it! We did get a good rate booking directly with the hotel (€145 a night including breakfast (which is served in the restaurant or to your room, except on Mondays when the restaurant is closed)) so is worth checking with them.

We ate at some very nice restaurants in Toulouse although beware that most places are closed on Sundays and Mondays. We had a superb meal at 7 place Saint Sernin - the scallops are divine and the fruit tart superb. We also at Restaurant le 19 (opposite the hotel) and the meal was outstanding. Foie gras and lamb were amazing and the hazelnut dessert exceptional. Last, a little cafe on Rue des Tourneurs just down from Le Paradis Gourmand, was a perfect pit stop on a rainy day and served the most amazing tarte du jour and desserts!

I travel mainly on business and pass through Toulouse regularly. I usually spend a night there at the start of my trip and another on the way back to get an early flight from Blagnac Airport. I always like to try new hotels and have stayed at the Holiday Inn, Sofitel and Crowne Plaza, usually for what I paid at G Hotel. In short then, per $ comparison, I thought G was awful. There is no parking so if you have a car you drop your luggage and then find a public space - fine for drop of when checking in, but you really, on checking out have to carry your luggage to the parking space. Room was tiny, air con insufficient and a reviewer mentioned some lovely view over an inner courtyard - really???. It isn't that I will stop looking for interesting small hotels but on so many occassions, hotels like the G, advertise what in my experience they are not. Even though it had a restaurant, I would still call it ameneties wise, a bed and breakfast.

It's not easy finding a hotel in Toulouse. There were only a few 4 star available so we chose Hotel Garonne based on reviews here plus the fact that it was recommended in conde naste traveller.
The hotels itself is fine - clean and staffed by very friendly people. That's the good part. The location while central is down a small side street which looks a bit dubious but was okay. The main problem we had was that because the hotel is bordered on both sides by streets, there was noise all night long. People leaving local bars / nightclubs until 3am did not make for a sound night sleep. When we complained to the front desk, they said that this was to be expected on a Saturday night - maybe but it would have been nice to know beforehand!!

I had to have emergency dental treatment on the day of my booking and had to unfortunately had to cancel my flights and hotel. All of which could be confirmed.
The hotel wouldn't consider a refund, part refund or even a credit note.
In this day an age a little understanding goes a long way.
I will be visiting Toulouse in the near future but definitely won't be staying here.

Dear Sir, We are sorry that your urgent dental care did not allow you to stay with us, you would certainly have added more than one star, like the many positive comments that precede you. If sharing your resentment via Tripadvisor is your right, we allow ourselves to specify that the context of our business requires us to scrupulously follow the conditions of cancellation. First of all know that we offer many of our customers cancellable reservations until the day of arrival at 18h which is a rare tolerance in the hotel industry. When you booked online, you chose the non-cancellable and non-refundable rate, knowingly, a rate that was discounted under these strict conditions. Regarding the non-refundable rate, we can not change our conditions on a case-by-case basis, we are forced to protect ourselves by these conditions strictly if we want to remain professional and consistent. We do not even talk about travelers who demand and receive refunds from tourist establishments and who receive a second refund of their insurance. Like professional hotels, airlines or railways, we protect ourselves behind these conditions and we encourage customers to book at the standard rate if they want to protect themselves from an unforeseen event. Thank you for your understanding. Armand

I can't stress enough how dreadful and over priced this place is, there is no way this is a four star boutique hotel! The whole place was so dirty, tired/dated and scruffy, with rude staff and an even ruder owner. We had booked four nights, but only stayed one as it was so bad. We arrived to a really scruffy and worn reception, and shown to a room which was so dirty, we didn't think it had been cleaned, the a/c and safe didn't work either. Went back to reception and asked to talk to the manager and was told there would not be one at the hotel for another two days, the girl on reception then offered to come and clean our room, but I asked to be moved to another one. We were then taken up stairs to a different room which was still dirty, the walls were full of scuff marks, there was long dark hair all over the place, in the bath, on the floors and even on the walls, the whole place had not been cleaned properly for ages, with thick dust over the surfaces and floors, the furniture in our room was also marked and stained, with torn wallpaper and skirting boards hanging off the walls. I then had to go out and find another hotel to stay in late at night, and was lucky to find one close by which was both cheaper and beautiful, but we still had to stay one night at Hotel Garonne, I wish I could of left straight away, but the other hotel could not take us for that night. I asked the girl on reception to call the manager, which she did, but they did not answer. As they a/c did not work we could not cool the room to sleep, so as a result of it being so hot we did not sleep. In the morning we could not get out of the place quick enough, the room for one night was 156 Euros, without breakfast, we asked for some kind of discount as we were so unhappy, but were told to come back in two days time when a manager would finally be on site! As we were leaving, the basement of the hotel began flooding and the girl on reception told us she had to go and deal with that! We went back to complain a couple of days later, to be met by the owner who swore at us and told us to get out of his hotel, we were so shocked by the whole experience, I've stayed in some amazing hotels across the world, but this rates as one of the worse by far. Avoid this place at all costs, there are far better and cheaper hotels in Toulouse!

I can’t accept such utterly unfounded and unjustified remarks. Travelers can get a general impression by considering the reviews and ratings obtained for 2 years, this is the only bad customer experience in several hundred reviews. There are many points that haven’t been mentioned in this review which of course only takes into account the opinions of these travelers: - aggressiveness towards all staff - insults and racist remarks towards maintenance staff - intrusion into the back office without staff authorization - photos posted coarsely retouched I personally met those people who refused to shake hands with me during our meeting, I had to face personal insults. In 20 years of business, I can assert that I have never met such travelers whose case is simply psychiatry. I was forced to expel them from my property. Philippe Rouet General manager

Our stay in Hotel Garonne was brief, but very nice. The staff is friendly, rooms are confortable and clean but the it's the location of the hotel that's really great. We didn't have any noise trouble since our room wasn't on the street side. Consider having breakfast at nearby Place Esquirol...

This hotel was a wonderful find. It was recommended by a tourist board in Bordeaux. The people at the front desk were more than hospitable, attending to even small personal details. No request was too much. Part of the quaint hotel is a renowned restaurant. One must book ahead as it is popular throughout the city. The room was most comfortable with luxury amenities. In the circular stairway there is a gorgeous chandelier which I was compelled to photograph. Weekends offer a special rate including a robust continental breakfast served in your room. Very filling and delicious. I highly recommend this special hotel and its employees.
