The beds were comfy enough and I felt rested but my wife had difficulties staying asleep. The walls are thick enough to keep noise out but we found it was the doors and windows that let a lot of noise in. We also found the bathroom to be very tight quarters with little room to move in the shower and my knees hit the wall while on the toilet.
Checking in seemed to be more pleasant for French speakers with the front desk man telling tourists about nearby restaurants to check out. The front desk offered to check us into a room with a larger bed which we were hesitant to accept because we had booked a room with two twin beds pushed together. He had assured us that the bed was bigger but while the bed was indeed bigger than one bed the sleeping surface area was smaller. He seemed to be very reluctant to switch us back to the original room we had booked but did switch us back. The front desk was also very pushy to get us to make a decision to book an airport shuttle with them. It seemed like an ok deal for 21 euros per person but he needed a decision in a few hours to book so we declined. They also offered to store our bags when we checked out so we could enjoy the city more.
During checkout there were three people behind the desk and all three ignored us for some time. They allowed us to store our bags but we had to label and put the bags in the storage closet ourselves. When we went to retrieve our bags they quickly acknowledged us but we had to remove a few suitcases to dig our bags out.
Overall it was an ok stay. I'd recommend the hotel if you're looking to save a bit on hotels, don't mind being a little cramped and don't expect good hospitality.
The room did not at first appear to be unclean however, the shower had a lot of limescale and was dirty. We also put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign and they came in our room and cleaned anyway. The bathroom was quite small but did the job. There was no air con or air flow so it was extremely hot and stuffy even with the curtains closed all day.
Furthermore, the walls were very thin and we could hear peoples conversations in all directions as well as there only being 1 plug socket in the whole room. The pillows were extremely hard and the door also did not lock from the inside. Additionally, there was a small hole in the roof and the long window did not close.
Despite this, it is in a good location with a metro station, restaurants and supermarkets a 2 minute walk away and the staff were very friendly. If you are looking to save money travelling, this is a good option but not if you’re looking for somewhere with a more comfortable experience.
For what we were looking for, as students with a low budget, it was an average experience.
OK, the hotel only has 2 stars and is relatively inexpensive by Paris standards (we paid just over €500 for 3 nights without breakfast). But: there are certain basic rules of the hotel industry, such as that the room is cleaned every day and at least the wet bathroom carpet is replaced. That is not the case here.
The room is tiny, it is difficult to use the toilet in the bathroom if you are over 1.80m tall, there is no power socket in the bathroom, let alone a hair dryer. The shower is so narrow that you cannot turn around in it and so you stick to the disgusting shower curtain.
A few coat hangers serve as a "closet", there are no drawers or anything like that.
The room itself was clean when we moved in, including the mini bathroom. This was cleaned in the late afternoon of the first day, and on the second day the bed was barely made.
I can't give a recommendation, even with the best will in the world.
The staff at the hotel were generally friendly and helpful.
As for our room, it was very compact to say the least, but it was very clean and felt modern, along with the modern bathroom and large walk in shower ( the shower tray was very slippery).
1st But, as a British traveler, there are certain expectations from any hotel & in my 50 years, this is the first hotel I have ever stayed in, anywhere in the world, with NO KETTLE, in the bedroom and no where in the hotel to get a hot or cold drink outside of Breakfast.
2nd But, the hotel website describes an “ internal courtyard “ which some rooms overlook, this needs some imagination ( please see the picture).
3rd But, this is the 1st hotel I have stayed in in over a decade now that did not offer free WiFi, I thought this was a staple of every day life now, certainly across the rest of Europe and Scandinavia.
Breakfast it’s self was basic, continental breakfast with Croissants & Pain au Chocolate available on requests, bread for toast, yogurt, dried fruit & some cereal, not the best continental breakfast choice I’ve ever seen, but it fuelled us up for the day.
All in all it was a nice hotel to put your head down in & the bed was very comfortable, but don’t expect any frills.More
Overall Impression: If I wanted to save money, this is the one, but you get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with it, just very basic and small.
Pros:
Cheap
Great Location
breakfast included
windows open fully
Fairly quite on my side of the building which didn't face the street
Cons: The hotel doesn't have AC. , it was hard to sleep in august.
super small shower, knees against the wall when using the toilet
shower, and toilet is two inches from shower.
shower head wasn't fixed securely, a little hard to shower because of that.
slow wifi
I stayed here for one night while transiting through paris. I just needed a basic place to sleep for the night. If I was staying longer in Paris, I would stay at Hotel 34B around the corner which is lot more expensive and a lot nicer.
The room, although small, suited us perfectly as we only used it to sleep, taking into account that we woke up very early and arrived very late. The service at reception was satisfactory, with the receptionists speaking to us in English and/or our language.
The breakfast was very basic but sufficient: croissants, butter, jam, bread, sliced bread, toast, cake (sometimes), fruit (sometimes), cereal, milk, coffee, tea and juice.
There were some cleanliness issues throughout the hotel, but our room was fine and the bed was made every day, as well as the bath towels were touched (which was not necessary).
I recommend it to anyone looking to visit everything Paris has to offer and looking for a cheap place just to stay overnight.
Sufficient breakfast served in a sort of cave, very pretty
Central area, but being on an internal street, quiet.
Highly recommended
