Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighbourhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.

Location: When we decided to travel to Paris again, “Hotel Magenta 38” came directly in our mind (we stayed there already in July 2017), because it’s perfectly located in the trendy district of St. Martin (2 blocks to the romantic canal), just 5 min to the Main Station Gare

I stayed here during our (Canadian) March Break for 4 nights in March. I had the unique opportunity to see several rooms, in addition to mine, and I can confidently say that the various-sized rooms are clean and sufficient. I stayed in a single room and, while limited in

20 mins walk from the Pompidou, so pretty central. Perhaps not the largest room I've ever seen, but it was modern, clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and friendly and the buffet breakfast offered plenty of choice. Not exactly memorable, but I'd happily stay there

There is no hotel shuttle. There are shuttle services which you can book at at the desk for your departure. As for your arrival there is only the train or cab. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the East Train Station, and only a few more beyond that to the North Station. When I have stayed there a rail strike was in progress (I think the general schedule for those as I understand is Wednesday but don't quote me on that) and so the only option from CDG was cab. On my last visit there (I've stayed in this hotel twice now and am booking another visit in December to the same hotel) there were no shuttle vans available for some reason and so I had to take a cab. The cab fare on my departure was about 50-60 EUR (I can't remember exactly). The cab from the airport to the city can be more expensive especially if you are coming in in the morning as most flights from the US do. The higher cost is due to rush hour traffic. My cab to CDG was cheaper because I leave very early in the morning to avoid rush hour traffic and heading out of the city.I hope this helps you out. This hotel is very nice the elevator can be frustratingly slow. There are a lot of eating options very close. There is a grocery store across the street. I have a portable travel oven and so I shop at the store and cook in my room. There used to be small refrigerators in the rooms but they have all been removed. You can store a few items in the refrigerator at the main desk. The staff are great and speak English probably better than I do as a native speaker. Very sharp people there. I am booking a small conference there in December in the meeting room downstairs. I really like this hotel.

There was available a taxi bus from hotel to cdg airport in lower rates than if you take a taxi directly from the street

"As the location is a busy boulevard, rooms at the back probably quieter."
"Ask for a 'deluxe' room that has working air-con / heating"
"Specify the room size. None have a good view."
"Rooms at the back might be quieter."
"Ask for a room NOT facing the boulevard- it's noisy all day and night and there is an EMT station nearby - constant sirens."
