Detailed Reviews
This hotel is perfect for a short Paris stay for someone who loves Montmartre and does not intend to spend to much time at the hotel ;-)
The design is modern and cozy. Staff is nice and everything is spotless clean. There’s a Nespresso machine on the room, and there’s complimentary tasty French pastry in reception area in the afternoon.
Although I booked a king room (which as they explained is “very large”), it was really small.
It’s not a luxury hotel and except for sleeping (on very comfy bed!) and showering, there’s not much you could do there.
The Montmartre location is perfect though, really in love!

We had a reasonably good 3 nights' stay at Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé.
We checked in early about 2pm and were welcomed with 2 fresh cream filled mini doughnuts. The young gentleman at the reception was always friendly.
The area was nice: Close to Sacre Coeur and lots of restaurants and shops and still on a quiet side street.
The room was tiny and the storage space was minimal. There was no mini fridge. Shower only. There was nowhere to hang the towels except the doors.
The good things about the room were that there was an espresso maker with 2 coffee pods, 2 tea bags and a kettle. There was also a carafe of mineral water on arrival and more was available at the breakfast area at any time of the day. We stayed in room 20 which was a quiet one facing the inner yard. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient.
The bathroom had a shower and a bottle of Nuxe shower gel bolted to the wall.
The breakfast was good quality and cost 19 euros per day per person. We were not especially impressed with the hot selection (that was scrambled eggs, mushrooms and something else which I did not recognize) , but the charcuterie and cheese section was good: There was some ham, turkey, Parma ham, 5-6 different cheeses. The coffee machine was good, the orange juice of high quality, there were 5 kinds of yoghurt, various cereals, fruit, pain au chocolat, croissant, bread, rolls, cold quiche, American style pancakes, and jams. They all got replenished regularly. There was also some cake in the lobby at least on some afternoons.
There was no mini market close to the hotel.
The main drawback was that Wi-Fi was broken for the entire duration of our stay.
Overall our stay was fine, but I am not convinced if this hotel deserves a 4 star rating. I would still stay there again because the location and the staff were nice.

We were given the best room #53, which is super spacious for Paris hotels. The bed was big and comfortable. There are plenty of pillows and thick towels. They have a shampoo/soap combo in the shower, so you’ll need to bring your own conditioner if you need it. The shower pressure is great and temperature consistent. The only drawback is the the shower head is too far back and doesn’t angle, so you need to be very close to the dials or use it as a wand.
Big shout out to Hanafi who checked us in. He was warm, friendly, and had great recommendations. He gave us these delicious puff pastries when we checked in. The hotel offers complimentary French sweets in their lobby. They are so good and disappear quickly.
The location is a five min walk from a Metro stop. It’s another 7 min walk to Montmartre. There are cafes, boulangeries, restaurants (very good ones), supermarkets, wine shops, and more. The location is lively through the day and night. I would stay in this area again in a heartbeat.

This place is small and comparable to the tiny rooms in Hong Kong.
The rooms starts and ends after you see a double bed. The restrooms are quite a shocker with space for a WC being the total area for a toilet.
We had 3 rooms and all were really small.
The basic facilities such as glasses and forks etc weren't available since the guy at the reception didn't know where the 'Breakfast Lady' keeps it. So if you take a dine out, prepare to eat with your hands and use the plastic cups kept the bathroom for drinking wine if any.
The breakfast is chargeable at 18+ Euros/per person and is repetitive. We didn't eat after the 2nd morning.
On hindsight, I would given this place a miss and looked at a better hotel...
Tastefully done place though....That and a decent location were the only saving grace.

Madam, sir, I sincerely regret to read your disappointment, however your testimony surprises me greatly, as it does not correspond to the experience usually lived by our guests. Our rooms are certainly small, but they correspond to Parisian standards and are equipped for your comfort. We are totally transparent about their size and the facilities provided. How unfortunate to have drunk your wine in plastic glasses! We have a wine by the glass service at the reception desk, and we would have been delighted to offer it to you. We also provide cutlery on request. The breakfast buffet does not change daily, however the variety of products served makes it possible to vary the pleasures each morning. Its price is 16€, not 18€. It is justified by the quality of the products and the choice on offer: the local pastries, homemade cakes, cheese and cold cuts... The list is very long and our guests generally find what they are looking for. I hope that our excellent location has allowed you to take full advantage of the capital for the festive season. What a great hotel. I was treated to a 3 night stay by my wife. She upgraded us to room 53 on the fifth floor. Not only was it a cozy (good size) room it also had a balcony where you could see right across Paris to the Eiffel Tower. An amazing view in both day and night.
The room itself was a good size. King size bed. Good shower with hotel supplied shower gels and shampoos, and a large tv. Soundproofing was superb and it never got too hot or cold at night. USB sockets and a little safe are always a welcome addition to any room I stay in.
The hotel itself is located by some great restaurants and bars. A little shop is located just a few doors down for any essentials or snacks you may want.
I’d 100% stay here again. All the staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful.

We arrived to a warm welcome, shown to our lovely room with 2 windows which was so nice lots of light.
Beautiful decor with a nod to the author the hotel is based upon and very comfy beds.
Good blackout curtains and double glazing so you get a great nights sleep.
The bathroom was excellent, clean and plenty of shower gel and such extras.
There was a coffee machine in the room which was really good, nice to have a cup while you are getting ready before heading to breakfast.
Breakfast was very good freshly squeezed orange juice and so many options, including wee fruit pots and yoghurts.
Location is in fairytale Montmartre, just love the area, it’s not on the doorstep of the main attractions, for me I like to be outside of the tourist trap areas and see some of the real Paris, but metros are minutes away but we chose to walk everywhere. Do take time to explore this wonderful arty area though . . . . The 18th District is just delightful ❤️

wonderful hotel right in the heart of Montmartre. easy walk up the hill to Sacré-Cœur,the artist markets and restaurants. Plenty of really good bistros and bars with outside sitting within easy walking distance of the hotel. with the windows shut room is very quiet. Easy walk down the hill and you are in the Moulin rouge area. I stayed in a twin room with my sister and it was very very comfortable. beds very nice slept very well. . decorated so cute and decent size shower. the toilet was in a separate area than the shower which is nice if you have someone in the shower and you need the toilet area. the front desk staff are amazing and go the extra mile in helping out the guests. Huge Shoutout to Hanafi and Julie. They made my stay better than I could have ever thought. In the afternoons they have flavored water and little cakes for the guest for a nice afternoon snack. . Great location, amazing wonderful front desk staff. Only negative would be the wifi is a bit slow. Everything is gets a 10 in my book

Dear Guest, Wow... this complete feedback has delighted the whole team from the reception to the management. It is always very pleasant to discover that our guests slept well, that they felt well received and that they took advantage of their stay to visit and discover the capital. A big thank you for this 5/5 and all these positive points you mention. Hanafi and Julie are very glad to have made your stay better thanks to their availability and their professionalism. There is nothing better than having a good time with your family, I hope you have fully enjoyed the artists' markets, the restaurants, the bistros nearby, but also the Sacré-Coeur, the Moulin Rouge, the museums of Montmartre... There is so much to discover in our mythical district and we will be very happy to see you there if you come back to Paris. Located in charming Montmartre, this hotel is easy to find and conveniently situated near the train station, numerous restaurants, and local attractions. Check-in was smooth, and we were welcomed with delicious cream puffs. Our room was cozy, with street views, and despite some nighttime street noise, it didn't disturb our sleep on the comfortable bed. The highlight was the spacious shower, and the lotion provided smelled amazing. Overall, it was an affordable stay in a beautiful location, just steps away where Van Gogh briefly lived with his brother.
Tip: Before you stay here, read Marcel Ayme's "The Man Who Walked Through Walls". You'll notice the guy on the wall when you're in the lobby and it will make more sense.

Absolutely loved this quirky boutique hotel, stayed 4 nights with my sister. We were lucky to get a room with a balcony, being on the corner we had views of the Eiffel Tower to the left, treated every night after dark to the Tower sparkling, to the right we could see one of the remaining windmills of Montmartre and we could see the top of the Sacre Coeur peeking over the rooftops.
The ròom was spotlessly clean with a coffee machine and safe.
Breakfast was buffet style served between 7 to 10.30am, great selection in a lovely breakfast room.
All the front staff we encountered were welcoming and really helpful.
The hotel is in a perfect area with plenty of good restaurants, shops and bars. A short walk down the hill takes you to the Moulin Rouge area and a walk up the hill you brings you to the Sacre Coeur area, lots of bars, shops, artist square, loads of quaint streets to explore and of course the Sacre Coeur lovely seeing it lit up at night.
Would definitely recommend the hotel and really can't wait to go back there. Had the most amazing time - loved it!!!

We were upgraded to the “apartment” which was accessed on street but very quiet and secure. Nice bedroom and sitting room. Bedding all made up daily and room beautifully presented including vanity packs etc. Staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a great location in Montmartre, close to both Blanche and Abbesses Metro stations. A short walk from the hubbub of Place de Clichy but a much more chilled and authentic atmosphere and still with loads of bars and brasseries to choose from. Close to Sacre Couer and easy to access all the sights of Paris by metro. Will be back.
