I enjoyed my 5 nights at this basic but extremely affordable hotel. Located in Voltaire you are not far from all that Paris has to offer. Catch the M9 and you're 4 stops from st. Michels (Notre Dame, the Lourve etc). I had a single bedroom with shared showers. My bathroom was directly across from my room so it was extremely convenient. The fridge and microwave is a nice touch to the room and makes staying on a budget more attainable as the hotel is also around the corner from a super market. I was on the fourth floor (no elevator but the porter can assist you if need be). The staff are friendly, can speak English if need be (try and talk French if possible). Very comfortable atmosphere and very secure. The tv in the room only plays French local channels but that's kinda a good thing. You're in France! For the price you pay I wouldn't go anywhere else!

The Au Royal Mad Hotel which resides on Rue Sedaine is situated on a small back street not far from the Metro Station Voltaire, about half a block. It is an easy walk from Gare De Lyon Station as well.

Walking is so easy that I found it on the very first try and it's only about a mile from the station.
Exit Gare De Lyon via front door. Find Avenue De Lyon. Follow it to The Bastille, which is a circular intersection. Continue on Avenue De Lyon to Rue Sedaine on your right. Turn right onto Sedaine and walked about three blocks. The sign is the only green hotel sign on the street but it can be easy to miss if you aren't paying close attention. If you reach Avenue Voltaire then you overshot by half a block. Just turn around and walk back to mid block.

Charles DeGalle Aeroporte is easy too. Take the Rossi Bus to L'Opera, a major tourist attraction. Catch Metro 9 a few blocks from Rossi's drop off point and it goes right to Station Voltaire.

The hotel is family owned and operated. It's clean, quiet and friendly. There are no elevators but that's common for a lot of lower price hotels in France.

Another fine point for choosing Au Royal Mad Hotel is its location. On Voltaire there is a store called Kababi that has very low priced but stylish clothes for the budget minded. There are a ton of wonderful restaurants that offer various cuisines within a block's walking distance. The Metro is so close you don't ever need to take a taxi. Oh and Metro Route nine goes direct to several tourist attractions including L'Opera (formerly mentioned), Grande Boulevarde and many more. I didn't have time to explore all the places it went on that single line. Gare De Lyon is not directly on that line but Metro five is only three stops off nine and it took me less than ten minutes to get there on any day.

I think their price is very good at Paris standarts. Great location (very close to Voltaire subway station) Staff is very friendly. Rooms have fridge, microwave and washbasin. If your budget is tight you can bring some food and use them. I stayed in this place three nights. Last day I put my suitcase in the lobby and took it at night and had no problem.

I stayed in this room for 2 nights and in the morning when I had to check out my partner and I woke up with bites all over our bodies that were itchy. When packing up my stuff, I actually saw a bed bug on the pillow that was red because it was full of our blood.

When I went down stairs to notify reception and showed her photos of the bed bug bites and the bed bug, she did not seem concerned and told me she couldn't speak english.

When I contacted the hotel by email saying that I needed to go to the doctor and to dry clean and wash all my clothes they would only refund me for my accommodation. After that, they have stopped responding to countless emails I have sent over the past 2 weeks.

Beside the fact that this building has no elevator and we had to climb small stairs with our luggage in our hands till 6th floor our room had BED BUGS. When we woke up after first night we were full of bites and started to search the bed and found bed bugs. They changed our room (from room 44 to room 27) and guess what... woke up next morning with more bites because that room had bed bugs too. The place looks pretty clean at first sight and is close to metro station, the only good part I could find. My advice: stay away from it. Bad wi-fi.

When I checked out from the hotel on November 19, I asked to leave my suitcase in the lobby until the evening. Then I took it back, came home and saw that my computer was not in the bag! I called to the hotel, but they said that there was no computer at all. It means that some person of the hotel staff stole the computer from my bag. Be careful with this hotel!

Bed bugs in the room, only 2 nights sleep there And my body is full with itchy spots, rather pay a lil more next time than go there again.... The menager of the hotel Was rude And told us that we bring the bugs, but obviously we did not visit any other place And at home we don't have any. So if u want to rest And have a calm vacation don't sleep here And Tell everyone to don't do neither...

Pre-booked 4 nights but wasn't aware shared toilet and bathroom are on separate floor for which there are steep narrow stairs to get to. The share bathroom was grubby. I then checked other reviews which commonly mention bed bugs and paper thin walls. So we asked to cancel our booking on arrival. The manager said he would refund only one night. When we had not received our refund after a few days, we called and the manager said he was waiting for a good review before refunding the one night. What a con. Would gladly lose the money than spend one hour in this place. Motel from hell.

For the price you are paying, this hotel exceeds all expections. rooms are always clean and tidied every day. There's a fridge and microwave, with a supermarket 5 mins away it's really convenient and saves us huge amount of money. We stayed there for 5 nights, totally enjoyed it!

tips:
1. bring ear plugs, can be real noisy with travelers coming back late and setting off early
2. take shower as soon as you are home, to avoid having to use flooded bathrooms

The bathrooms, though are shared and not available on all floors you could choose the rooms on the same level as the bathrooms if you check in early, and they are always clean. Only problem certain inconsiderate travelers leave it flooded after their showers. But you can always use other bathrooms.

Helpful staff that allowed us to check in as early as 11am, no question asked. (we had to wait for the cleaning lady to finish cleaning our room though!)

I really didn’t expect much from the hotel anyway, I did book it because it was cheap and in a good location but I didn’t have high expectations.

The staff were friendly however the walls are extremely thin and you can hear the conversations of anyone in the next room clearly, there was small dried drops of blood on my sheets and the street outside is extremely noisy. For this alone I wouldn’t recommend it as the noise makes it impossible to sleep. The WiFi was also next to useless for the most part as well.

The hotel is local to some excellent restaurants and is in walking distance of almost all of the main attractions.

The hotel is not suitable for people with poor mobility as it has 6 floors with no lift and steep stairs.

Oui, les serviettes sont fournis. De plus, certaine chambre possède un frigo et un micro onde. Attention cependant : l'isolation intérieure, porte d'entrée- n'est pas au top!
