Solo traveller staying in a one bedroom for five days, which was quiet, comfortable and cleaned daily.

It also had air conditioning which was a luxury during the summer months.

Central location within walking distance of the metro and The Louvre.

The hotel is small but it offers all you need for a nice stay in Paris, especially the location, which is excellent (literally 3 mins walk from the Louvre) for visiting the main museums and central area. The room was very clean, small but enough for a single person, the shower quite big cosidering the bathroom's size, the tiny sink was almost cute and the Occitane toileteries a pleasant surprise. Bring earplugs though, because they have the thinnest walls!! definately they should work on soundproofing the rooms; the area is very quiet thus the only noises you hear come from the other rooms.I didn't have the breakfast included in my room but they offer you unlimited access to filtered water and teas/coffes. The staff is very friendly, always with a smile and checking in-out has been smooth and quick. Overall a positive experience, I'll definately come back.

We stayed at Hotel Crayon for 5 days in one nice room. From the first contact on, the staff was great and very supportive and everything went very fast. We were able to deposit our luggages before check-in and after check-out at no extra added cost which really reinforces the 5 starts we gave.

The breakfast was also tasty and had some option to choose from but after having the same food each morning it can get a bit boring. I wish the menu was more diversified and maybe there were vegetables too. Non the less this wasn't a major issues just a suggestion.

Our room was on the 5th floor and I couldn't be happier for the elevator we could easily use instead of the stairs. Be aware that if you are more sensitive to noises you should bring some earplugs. We could hear every movement of our neighbours - which got annoying when it happened in the middle of night when everyone was asleep.

The location is the best you can get in the city and if we ever return to Paris we'll for sure come back to Crayon!

Refurbishment building work on going and not disclosed during the booking. Building work sheets covering the floors everywhere - dust. Central heating down though portable electric heaters were provided. On last day by 9.30am no bread, no croissants no orange juice left. Charged a full breakfast price for a coffee and a boiled egg - no commercial gesture proposed. Broken furnitures in the room. Electrical socket not working.

What we liked:
The comfortable bed and pillows
That we could store our luggage on arrival and departure
The L'Occitaine toiletries
The room and bathroom were clean.
The efficient air conditioning.
The location - very convenient for walking to so many Paris sights, and close to transport options.
The complimentary tea and coffee facilities in the foyer.

What we didn't like:
The small size of the room. We were in a small double and there was barely room for our two small carry-on suitcases. Even by Paris standards the room was minute.
The lighting in the room was terrible - it was like getting dressed in the dark! The bathroom had great lighting but the room itself did not. By mid afternoon on a rainy day, we had to have our phone torches on to see our clothes in the (very small) wardrobe.
The room was very tired and the bedside cabinet looked shabby with split wood and broken fixtures like the plug above it.

In conclusion, if you're only staying for two nights, like we were, the room is fine but any longer and with larger suitcases, it would not be a comfortable experience. You couldn't relax in the room other than lying on the bed, which is fine for sleeping, but not great otherwise.

We choose this property as it was highly recommend my lonely planet. It seemed from the photos to be a cute and quirky hotel in a prime area of Paris, and while it may have been that at one time, I found the room to be quite small and dark.

My main issue is with the fact that for weeks prior to us arriving, and at least for the next 10 days, the hotel is under going major renovations with all theirs rooms. Unlike other hotels, The Crayon has chosen not to list this information on their website or inform their guests prior to arrival. We would have 100% made other arrangements if we knew this was the case. There is no AC in the entire hotel, scaffolding up outside the windows, and construction starting at 7am. The rooms are not fan cooled, so if you were not able to get one of the coveted fans you were out of luck and had a hot, sweaty sleep. The room windows are so close, it isn’t really an option to keep your window open unless you want your neighbours to see you walking around naked.

It is extremely disappointing because these issues, especially since this is our vacation, not an opportunity for the hotel to continue to make money while they renovate. I can handle no AC, but draw the line at constant hammering at 7am on Sunday morning. Truly unacceptable.

Those points aside, the staff are quite nice, the breakfast is decent, the location is great. The double rooms are tiny, tiny for two people and are quite dark with zero natural light. This hotel is a good choice for someone very price conscious, as it’s one step up from a hostel but not on par with other 2 or 3 stars we stayed with during our stay.

The showers are also covered in mold, but that were the least of our worries during our stay.

I was traveling to Paris for the first time on my own and right from the moment I arrived at the Crayon Hotel, I felt extremely welcome and at home. I was greeted warmly and was even provided early access to my room which was very unexpected but appreciated. The room was tight but very comfortable and warm, with everything I needed for my stay. I valued the focus on sustainability and also having access to tea, coffee, and refillable water throughout my stay as well as the communal lounge area downstairs where I could chat with others but also do a little bit of work. The staff were incredibly helpful and the location was just perfect to get around from. There was a wide variety of great restaurants close by. Thank you to the team - I will absolutely come back next time I am in Paris.

Had a cool blue room on the top floor. 6th floor can only be reach by stairs (elevator only goes to the 5th), although this didn’t bother me, it might some. Great location close to the Louvre, and easy access to the metro. So many restaurant options close by and Les Halle across the street to catch the train to the airport made this an excellent location.

This is a super cute hotel in a superb location and the staff was very nice. We were able to walk from the train station and also walk to many of our destinations. The only time we used the Metro was to go to the Eiffel Tower and that was really simple to use. The reason I'm giving it 3/5 stars is that we returned to our hotel room at 9:30pm in complete darkness, we had to use our cell phone lights to see anything. None of the light switches worked and no one was at the front desk to ask for help. There was a sign with a phone number to call for assistance, but when we called the number a message was played and then it clicked off. There was simply no one to help with this issue. Fortunately, we didn't have much to do and went right to bed. My advice is to make sure you know how to use the lights when you first arrive and someone is at the check-in desk to ask for help, if needed. Other than this, the hotel was fabulous. We had the breakfast package and the food was yummy!
