I decided to spend New Year’s in Paris and went ahead, despite the transportation strikes and bad weather. Because my favorite hotel at the time was fully booked I decided to try the Relais Christine which I had passed by many times before on previous visits to the city. Now I clearly have a new favorite Paris retreat.

The hotel’s formidable setting on a quiet street is in marked contrast to the soft interiors and the warm welcome accorded you by the front desk staff. Ophelia and general manager msr. Chomat were particularly helpful whenever a question came up but all of the staff including the room attendant and spa employees seemed to go out of their way to make one feel comfortable. This is a boutique hotel par excellence with luxurious furnishings both in the public areas and your room.

I got a split level deluxe junior suite on the top floor with a skylight that opened on command and had built in shutters you controlled. For anyone not appreciating the split floor arrangement, rooms across the hallway were located on a single level. I loved the split level particularly because of the high ceilings and beautiful curtains that cascaded down into my suite. My room also had a bathtub and large shower and a towel heater, plus motion-senor controlled nightlight in the bathroom. Nice!

Breakfast is served in the cosy public areas on the main floor while the gym and spa facilities, which include a hot-tub and sauna, are located in the cellar-like ground floor. I got a great deep tissue massage during my stay!

The hotel has a great location just two blocks from the Seine, and very easy walking distance to the Louvre and Notre Dame. Directly across the street is a small local cinema and the gourmet Le Christine restaurant is located feet from the hotel entrance. The rue de Buci area is also close by and worth hanging out in, with lots of bars and restaurants to please a range of tastes. I love this part of Paris, and the friendly warm ambiance of the Relais Christine fits in perfectly with the neighborhood. I will definitely be back!

All our staff is always at your disposal to help you have a wonderful stay, and we are happy to promptly answer all your needs. It is a pleasure to read that we all made you feel comfortable and perfectly at ease during your stay. We are happy that you enjoyed your Deluxe Junior Suite on two levels, a very Parisian room experience with high windows and unique skylights under the roof, and that you enjoyed our elegant and luxurious furniture and interior design blending harmoniously with modern in-room features. Thank you for mentioning our copious buffet breakfast served in the lobby, and our 24/7 facilities such as the gym, sauna and jacuzzi. Our Guerlain Spa, nested below magnificent 13th century vaults, is definitely a treat to be experienced, and we are pleased to read that you enjoyed one of our exclusive treatments. Thank you for also mentioning our central location, very much appreciated by our guests to discover the main Parisian attractions, all within walking distance, and to stroll around the lively Saint Germain area. We will be definitely looking forward to welcoming you back again in our "home away from home" and we hope to be your favourite hotel in Paris for your next stops in the capital. I am so glad I stayed at this hotel! We normally stay on the right bank but I wanted to stay on the left bank and explore a new area of Paris. I am so glad we did! The location is perfect for walking around Saint Germain, the Louvre, the Musee d'orsay and Notre Dame areas.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and the pre-arrival service was excellent. Our room was lovely as was the rest of the hotel. We stayed in a suite as we travelled as a family with our 13 year old daughter and she loved the hotel and the location too. I suppose that could be because her favourite crepe restaurant is around the corner on des Arts. My husband did think the mattress was slightly hard but that really didn't bother me - I am sure if we had asked for an additional mattress topper, they would have accommodated our request.

I had a facial with Pauline in the spa and the treatment was excellent! The spa was a Guerlain spa and I left with some beautiful perfume that is only available in France. I also bought a Relais Christine candle because the smell of the hotel was divine!

The breakfast had lots of options and even though there is not a restaurant on site, that isn't a problem because both restaurants on either side of the hotel were delicious -plus there are lots of wonderful and historic restaurants and brasseries in the area. The honesty bar was a nice touch too.

I can't wait to return!!

Dear Guest, Thank you indeed for taking the time to pen such a wonderful review ! It is a real delight to read that you thoroughly enjoyed not only our very central location but also all our services, and that all our staff delivered an excellent experience. All our team is always at your disposal to make your stay a memorable one, and we would have been pleased to add a mattress topper to make our bedding even more comfortable than usual - do not hesitate to share your preferences and needs at any moment, from reservation to check-out, as our reception is open 24/7! Thank you for mentioning the excellent quality of our Guerlain Spa: our Spa manager Pauline is always pleased to let you have a perfectly relaxing moment with one of our exclusive treatments, and to suggest the perfect scents to bring back home. We will be pleased to welcome you back another time for a relaxing and VIP stay in our Left Bank home! Yours Sincerely, Jean-Luc

This is the perfect romantic and secluded hideaway in the heart of Paris. From the attentive staff that park your car and take care of your luggage to the impeccable housekeeping, greeters and staff at the reception, everything will be done to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The common areas are lavishly decorated and the room had an aura of old world charm combined with modern comforts. We took advantage of the complimentary bikes to explore Paris. The only thing that bothered us a bit was the somewhat chaotic breakfast service. This probably had to do with the safety measures taken regarding the Corona virus. Nonetheless the food was of great quality. It is not a place for the budget conscious traveler but really worth the splurge when you don't want to stay in a run of the mill hotel.

Whenever I go to Paris, the 6th is where I want to stay. So you can't beat the location of this hotel. I also like the boutique hotel experience. Honestly, for 700 euros a night, I expect perfection... and maybe I'm spoilt because I've been living in Asia for 20 years. Not acceptable to find hair on the shower math and 2 shampoos and 1 conditioner instead of 1 shampoo, 1 body wash, 1 conditioner. And when I complained to the reception they made it sound like it was normal and a soap bar was the best I could hope for. We booked an additional night because we wanted to be able to check in early morning after a long flight. The room looked like housekeeping hadn't done the final cleaning/check or maybe they let someone use the room for day use and forgot to tidy up after they left. Breakfast on our last day was a mess. Not enough tables, not enough staff. Nobody ever set the table, I had to ask for cutlery and wait forever for coffee. I think you should think of some system to regulate number of people in the breakfast room, if you can't handle all your guests having breakfast at the same time. Either that, or get more staff. Overall I would still recommend this hotel because the room is nice and the location is unbeatable but I feel like the service doesn't match the price tag.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing Relais Christine for your Parisian stay and are pleased that you enjoyed the decoration of our rooms and our unique location. We are sorry to read your experience with us did not completely meet your expectations, and that you were disappointed by housekeeping and by breakfast one day. The elements you mention are not at all characteristic of the Relais Christine, where we put extra care in each detail and where our breakfast buffet is widely praised. Should you accept to give us another chance, we would make sure you have an absolutely perfect stay throughout. Yours sincerely, Jean-Luc Chomat

My husband and I stayed three nights at the Relais Christine, and overall we loved the location and the service, and the breakfast was excellent. This is a sister property to the Ritz Paris, but at a much lower price point. Thankfully, that doesn’t subtract from anything, just shows that the standards are very high here.

We were able to check in early, and we had booked one of the loft rooms. There are pros and cons to this style of room, but overall I did like that the seating area was separate from the sleeping area. The room also had a huge skylight that added a lot of ambience. The furnishings and the details were very nice. Everything was classy and I didn’t really have any complaints about the room. You are in the middle of St Germain des Pres, so the rooms aren’t huge, which maybe is to be expected.

Service during our whole stay was outstanding. They were able to direct us to where to can get a health pass from a pharmacy, and helped us with any of the logistical questions we had.

The breakfast was outstanding, and one of the most varied that I had ever had. It was included in our rate, and they had amazing cheeses and cooked foods and breads/pastries.

The location was also very central to restaurants or just walking around the streets.

I really had no complaints at this hotel and it is a good value relative to other upscale Paris hotels. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest, We thank you bery much for this detailed review of your stay with us. Just to precise, Relais Christine is a sister property of the Saint James Paris in the 16° district, a Relais & Châteaux property nestled in a private garden... Thank you very much for choosing the Relais Christine among the many choices Paris offers. When creating the property 42 years ago, the French family, who still owns it, decided to create a truly upscale and discreetly luxurious boutique hotel. We welcome guests from all over the world looking for a refined and peaceful hideaway in the heart of medieval Paris, with a decor conveying a true sense of place and a professional, caring service. We all look forward to welcoming you back in a near future. Sincerely yours, Jean-Luc Chomat

The stay at Relais Christine is always good, with an ideal location to have a meal around the corner at one of many fabulous places. Being in this quartier saves time and money. This time, our stay was even more fabulous. I was spending my birthday week with my mother and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. The breakfast is a great value, full of delicacies and local fare and a really large cup of cappuccino. The staff is multilingual and very friendly, you’ll find no attitude here. As soon as our greeter noticed I didn’t speak any French, she switched to Spanish and showed us around and made me feel welcome. The spa was a gift from a friend made as a surprise, so I was beyond thrilled to experience this luxurious underground grotto by Guerlain. My massage with Mathilde was relaxing and tranquile. If you’re sharing the cosy room, make sure you like each other, because its tight quarters. I would ask for room 70 as it is the highest story and you have a view of Parisian rooftops. The small fridge is not super cold, and because it has marble countertop and surround, it makes things hot in the cabinet. It was recently renovated and feels very Parisian modern, with cool wallpaper and comfy couches and living spaces that are nicely private. A few feet from Pont Neuf and walking distance of many of the must sees in Paris. I will definitely return.

Relais Christine is a gorgeous boutique hotel in a restored townhouse on a quiet street in a convenient neighborhood. The turndown treats from Angelina were delicious. The hotel is an easy walk across the Seine from the Louvre. The breakfast is outstanding-try to get a room rate that includes breakfast. The hotel has been renovated with excellent taste. Our two rooms had large glass-enclosed showers that were separate from the tubs. One of the concierges recommended an excellent, atmospheric nearby restaurant, Les Editeurs, for dinner on our last night. The rooms are accessed most easily by stairs and there are steps to the breakfast room, which might be an issue for people with mobility issues, although there is an elevator. We enjoyed our stay here and would happily return.

Thank you so much for staying at the Relais Christine and for your kind words! Set in a 17th century mansion built on the remains of a 13th century abbey that can still be admired at our Guerlain spa, the Relais Christine is the ideal compromise between luxury and authenticity, a central location and peace, tradition and romance. We offer accessible rooms and have two elevators to make sure all spaces are wheelchair-accessible. We are very happy to read you enjoyed your stay and hope to have the pleasure of serving you again in a near future. Yours sincerely, Jean-Luc Chomat

We were unsure about this hotel as it came with a caveat when recommended...it looks good, but we haven't stayed there. It was our first time in Paris and we absolutely loved Relais Christine. The staff were more than willing to help and greeted us warmly upon our 11pm arrival on a chilly night. We booked a spacious duplex suite. The bathroom & sitting room on the lower level and bedroom upstairs. A skylight & two large windows overlooking the courtyard, offered plenty of natural light. The hotel itself is intimate with a stylish salon where you can enjoy a drink from the honesty bar in the peaceful surrounds. The breakfast room, off the salon, is comfortable with a small, but well thought out selection of options. Delicious fresh fruit, pastries and hot selection as well as great European breakfast offerings. We found, for a small hotel, there was great variety and the food was fresh & of a high quality. The hotel is centrally located and we walked to all the nearby attractions. Plenty of options for restaurants close by with the famous Blvd St Germain, Cafe de Flore & Relais de L'Entrecôte all only a short walk away. Booking tip for guests with limited mobility: the hotel has one lift servicing guests and staff, this wasn't an issue for us as we used the stairs. Request a room with a walk-in shower, our shower was over the bath and could be tricky climbing in / out of the bath. We would definitely return to this hotel and loved every minute we were in Paris!

This hotel is situated in the 6e arrondissement, perfectly located to discover Paris by foot, bike or electric scooter. The hotel has a very tasteful interior, both in the lobby as in the rooms, and a private courtyard and a private car parking. The breakfast buffet is highly recommended and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Great spa and decent gym area.
