We were extremely pleased with our choice of hotel. It was less than 10 mins walk from Gare du Nord Eurostar station and restaurants nearby and we walked to all the sights from the hotel.
Rooms clean and staff very nice and helpful.
Could leave luggage at hotel on last day which was amazing.
We would stay there again as it's a good find.
Our request for a room on top floor was given to us and we had a great room.
Great location.
Think for the same price, can find a better option, and I will do this next time.
The problem with this hotel and our room is that WE ARE CONFIDENT THAT WE LEFT THERE WITH BEDBUG BITES. We have some experience with these miserable creatures and know how to spot the warning signs. We both had bites that showed up a few days after we left the hotel. We also found small blood stains on the sheets in the mornings. We checked the room and there was no obvious sign of infestation and we were very careful with our clothes. For most of the time we were speculating that there was a problem but on the final day we woke up at 5am to catch and early train and there was a live, large (well-fed-looking) bedbug crawling on the wall right next to the bed. This, of course, makes us very sure that the hotel does have bedbugs.
Please be very careful staying here. It is a shame to have to report this about the hotel, but its the truth. For anyone who does not have experience with these insects, you are lucky. Please believe me that you don't want them hitching a ride home with you.
The hotel staff was exceptional—they were professional, friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. All the front desk staff speaks English very well, which was helpful as we only speak a little French.
The hotel is conveniently close to two metro stations. We usually used the Cadet station when headed to central Paris, but also occasionally used the Poissonnière station. We always felt safe walking between the metro stations and the hotel, even when we were getting back after dark.
The hotel breakfast is very good and well worth the 7€ price per person. On days we had the hotel breakfast we felt we could get by until dinner with only an afternoon snack in between. The breakfast has a nice variety of pastries, breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, juices, coffee, teas, and hot chocolate. We did feel the breakfast would benefit from the addition of fresh fruit.
The rooms are on the smaller size, but are clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern, but our shower stall didn't have a curtain and it was difficult to keep the floor from getting wet. The wi-fi always worked well.
There's a park nearby and many cafes, restaurants, bakeries, fresh produce shops, and small grocery stores within 3 minute walks from the hotel.
We would definitely stay at Residence du Pre again.
Breakfast was plentifull and good. The staff was ok, helpful. There was one receptionist who tried to make us speak French, not English, once he knew that we know a few words.
The best thing about this hotel is the location, near the Opera, you cand just walk up to LaFayette.
