Detailed Reviews
Still currently staying but felt I needed to write a review mid stay to try and get a response from hotel, check in was hard work couldn’t find our booking eventually Alfred (was nice and polite- could teach his colleague a thing or 2!) did and room is nice. Later our key to room stopped working and reception said we shouldn’t be in that room but a different one even though all our stuff was locked in there- eventually they agreed we were in that room and got our key card working. Menu says room service is available until 11pm tried ringing directly at 1040 no one answered phone so reception transferred me for the phone to be put down on me, told reception and they transferred me again to be told at 10.50 rudely closed! I tried explaining it says 11 on menu and the lady was just rude said NO. Not the service I’d expect, she obviously just could not be bothered- unfortunately this is leaving a bad feeling about the hotel and now I’m hungry.

Dear Kangaroomich, It is with great attention that I just read your feedback. I'm sorry that you experienced these two incidents during your time with us. We were victims of a computer error which unfortunately complicated your check-in and the use of your key. We are sincerely sorry and apologize for this error. Your misadventure with room service is regrettable and we are responsible for it. We were fully booked this weekend and there was a very busy late evening at the bar and the staff unfortunately delayed answering the phone. Please consider these events as isolated and accept our sincerest apologies. We hope to have the opportunity to leave you with better memories of our establishment during your next stay with us. Yours sincerely,

This is an excellent hotel. The room (superior double) was very nice and the bed was massive and very comfortable. The room was quiet and well sound proofed (we were on the 5th floor looking out onto the Rue Callaincourt). The room was air conditioned and with the window closed there was no street noise even the dreaded motorcycles/ scooters. The room doors are designed not to slam - never heard a door slam (the curse of hotels) all the time we were there. The shower was excellent - powerful and hot. There was fridge in the room and a kettle so we could make Yorkshire tea (bring own tea bags of course). The breakfast was brilliant; beans and egg and tomato and bacon and sausages in the hot buffet and tons of everything else including cold meats, fruit, croissants, pain au raisin etc etc. The location was excellent with lots of cafes bars and restaurants nearby. The Chinese restaurant in the road next to the hotel (Chez Feng - been there 32 years family owned) serves the best Chinese food I have ever tasted (ever ordered beef with black bean and been asked how you want the beef cooking?). We paid bugger all with a Eurostar deal and we were sorry to leave.

Don't be fooled by the location. This hotel is in an ideal location for getting around Paris, the Metro is about 100m and there is a bus stop at 50m. I would recommend walking up to the Sacre Couer up through the cobbled streets with all the pavement cafe's and shops, alternatively you can get the bus but you will miss quite a lot of the sites and history of Monmatre.
The hotel rooms are clean and plenty big enough. I would suggest you take advantage of the free safe in the room (DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUEABLES IN THE ROOM).
The breakfast is very good with plenty of choice.

After 10 wonderful days in France with my family, we decided to spend 2 nights in Paris on the way back home.
We wanted a hotel that would be easy to get to the A1 and close to Sacre Coeur so we booked Mecure in Montmatre Sacre Coeur. This was a mistake.
Their family room was booked so we got two double rooms, next to each other. However, the rooms were not up to the standards we expected.
1. There were pubic hairs and scalp hairs on the floors of the shower room and toilets of both rooms
2. There was urine on the floor in the toilet of both rooms
3. It was very clear that both toilets were not cleaned with a brush for a while
4. The beds were hard. If you like sleeping on the floor you would love their beds
5. Hair on the bed
6. The safe did not work in one of the rooms
7. The kettle didn’t work in one of the rooms
8. There was a crack on the floor in the shower
9. Blood on the wall
10. Stains on the carpet
11. Towels had a bad odour
In the toilet, there were pubic hairs and urine stains on the floor. There were also hairs on the floor in the shower room and more in the corners.
I called reception to tell them that the toilets and shower needed cleaning. The gentleman at reception said he cannot help me as there were no cleaners in the hotel at the time. He offered to change our room but that would mean as a family, we couldn’t stay in rooms next to each other.
I was ready to leave this hotel, but they had taken full payment at check in and they had no manager on site on a Friday evening.
I was left with no choice but to clean it myself. I asked for disinfectant wipes and gloves but I was offered a cleaning solution and towels to clean the toilet and floors. Yes, towels! Do the cleaners use the same towels they give to guests, to clean the toilets and floors? Although washed (or maybe not) the smell of the towels were horrible.
In one of the shower rooms there was a red spot on the wall just where the towels were hung. I used a wet tissue to wipe it off and I’m certain this was blood.
The worse thing however, was the white smears of bodily fluid found on the underside of the throw on the bed and on the valance.
I cannot recommend this hotel and most certainly not for families.
Glad we didn't include breakfast in our stay - can’t imagine the state of their kitchen.
I have stayed in many Accor hotels before, when on holiday with my family and for business trips, but this one is by far the worse and I will never stay in another Mercure Hotel.
Moulin Rouge is closer to this hotel than Sacre Ceour. Perhaps it should be renamed “Mercure Montmarte Moulin Rouge”.

We just completed a stay at this hotel for one week. All was well enough for what we paid, but the morning we checked out we found out that our car service had canceled our ride due to the ongoing transit strike. We found out at the last minute and went to the front desk for help. We understood that this was in no way the hotel’s fault, but they were quite unhelpful and dismissive of us. One front desk worker simply said “It’s too complicated to get a taxi” and walked away. The other person behind the counter had some advice for us but this hotel is truly not equipped to help their guests especially while this strike is going on. ALSO, when we checked in using our Booking.com reservation, the female desk worker said we were not in the system and walked away. Honestly, you’re better off paying 5 star prices and getting good service. Although the rest of our stay was fine (the hotel has a nice design, great breakfast, basic but sufficient fitness center, and is definitely in a good location), we were ultimately disappointed with the service aspect of this hotel and probably would not stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel for several days with my daughter.
The positive: location and staff at the reception.
The hotel is near place de Clichy, with a metro stop and bus stop at less than a min walking distance. There are many restaurants, fast food joints (Quick, Starbucks) and supermarkets (Carefour) nearby. Also the best street crepe (Creperie Mon Ami) is at 15 min walking distance near the Sacre Coeur. I didn't know at first, but the Moulin Rouge is also at 5 min walking distance. There's even a souvenir store and a castorama (French equivalent to Home Depot) in the same street.
The staff at the reception is very friendly and to my surprise (i haven't been in Paris for more than 15 years!) is speaking English willingly! I remember the old days when Parisians gave you a dirty look when you don't attempt to speak French.
The negative: although the rooms are quite big, they have been worn out. Some paint on the doors and walls/ceiling is peeling. The room we slept in was clean, except for the bathroom (leaking shower and some black stuff on the floor) and separate very small toilet (with a filthy toilet brush).
The tissues and shower soap was not refilled after the room was cleaned, and I had to request at the reception for more.
Also we woke up in the morning from the loud noises of the cleaning staff. Sounded like they dropped a matrass or something. Unfortunately this happened more than once.
The staff in the restaurant during breakfast was snappy and quite loud when cleaning up the tables. I appreciate it also if they don't spray the tables with detergent right next to me while I'm trying to eat breakfast.
The breakfast however was quite good, with bread, danish pastry, eggs, bacon/sausages, beans, tomatoes, charcuterie, yoghurt, fresh juices and good coffee.
For the price I paid (+- 170 euro/night + 20 euro/person/day for breakfast) I was disappointed. The quality is not as bad as Ibis, but i thought Mercure was a lot more luxurious. In this price range, i expected better.
Next visit to Paris i would probably go for Pullman/Movenpick.

Dear, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that you appreciated the convenient location of the Mercure Paris Montmartre, close to Place de Clichy, with easy access to the metro, bus stops, and a variety of local eateries and shops. It’s great to know that our front desk staff made a positive impression during your stay, and that you enjoyed the breakfast offerings despite some issues with the service. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced regarding the condition of the room and the noise from the cleaning staff. Your comments about the room’s wear and tear, bathroom cleanliness, and the refill of amenities have been noted, and we will address these concerns with our housekeeping team to ensure improvements are made. We strive to offer a higher standard of comfort and service, and we regret that this was not reflected in your experience. We hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future, but we understand your decision if you choose to explore other options for your next visit to Paris. From start to finish, our stay here was perfect. Our rooms were spacious and had the most stunning views over the city. The bed was really comfortable and was made every day by housekeeping who also refilled the fridge daily with a range of cold drinks. There was an excellent range of food available for breakfast. The hotel was only a few minutes from Moulin Rouge and the Metro.

The staff were friendly and our superior rooms (which seem to be the standard rooms) were large and very quiet with great black out curtains, fab air con and a useful little fridge.
Travelling from the Gare du Nord by bus, the area seems initially a little "colourful" but we had no problems and the local shops and restaurants were great.
Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice, the outside seating area was slightly marred by the constant wasps buzzing around. But we loved having a drink and watching the tiny birds in the garden. The children enjoyed the table football.
Within sight of the hotel, the Place de Clichy is brilliant for transport links to the whole city, bus and metro within a few mins walk and 30 mins on the bus to the Eiffel Tower. 25 mins walking uphill takes you to the Sacre Coeur, beautiful.
We would definitely return to this hotel

We booked to stay here for my 40th birthday. The hotel has cancelled our reservation due to Covid but refuses to refund my payment. As I have paid for train tickets to London and Eurostar to Paris I will now have to find another hotel but as this large hotel chain continues to hold my £400 I have limited funds so I we are really stuck. It is completely unfair and unreasonable of this hotel. They offer a credit note with a time limit of 18 months but the hotel is not even open to enable this voucher to be used! This means I will be forced to find funds for a further trip to Paris to enable me to use the voucher next year!
The hotel claims this is their cancellation policy but this is in the case of the customer cancellation, rather than the hotel choosing to close and thus being unable to fulfil the contract by providing the goods I have paid for!
This is appalling and such a big hotel chain should treat its customers better!

Lovely hotel near Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur. We stayed with our 7 year old for a long weekend. The breakfast included in the stay was lovely with lots of variety. The room was a good size with a double bed and single sofa bed. Beds were hard but comfy. Love that there is a bath and that the toilet is separate to the bath. The still & sparkling cold water taps on first floor near the terrace bar/restaurant were so handy in the warm weather when you are out seeing sights all day. Great to be able to fill your bottles and have water for the day. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby with a lot of variety. Highly recommend this hotel.

There are 2, maybe 3, local Metro stations within a 3 minute walk. One of the local lines will get you to a national train station to take you to Tours.
I don’t know the cost of a taxi but we used the Paris rail/metro network to get from CDG to the hotel. It is superb and a reasonable cost (sorry but can’t recall exactly how much) You get the train within CDG to Gare du Nord then a quick walk to La Chapelle where another train takes you to Place de Clichy which is a 3 minute walk to the hotel.
