We recently stayed at the Ibis Opera Bastille, 21/07 to 25/07.
I have to say, it was a really pleasant surprise.
The rooms are small, as are the bathrooms, but it's all you need from a city centre hotel. I would just note though, that our friend was doing her hand washing in the bathrooms, and it really is too small for that (though the hotel does have an ironing room on floor 4!). We stayed in the middle of a heatwave (which was also the finale to the Tour de France) and the aircon was pretty decent. Our aircon leaked really badly on day 3, and even though we were told it was fixed, it wasn’t. This was annoying, especially having to move at 9pm at the end of a LONG hot day sightseeing, but to be honest, they did move us, and they did it quickly. If only they had actually fixed it, or moved us, in the morning!
We had B&B, and the breakfast was really decent, and I would recommend this option for the value, and ease of planning your days: fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, preserves, meats and cheeses; your basic continental. Tea / coffee and juices came from machines. During the weekend mornings, it got SUPER busy, and this impacted on availability of clean tables, as well as clean cutlery / glassware etc. I know every hospitality venue is struggling with staff post Covid, but it was, on one morning, quite bad. But out of peak days, no issues at all.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, on the 5 line (orange), and you have 2 stops both literally 5 minutes walk: either Richard Lenoir, or Breguet Sabin. You can easily get from the airport on the RER 2 line (blue) changing at Gard do Nord. The whole journey takes around 60-90 minutes. For tourists, get either a 3 day or 5 day pass from the machines at the airport train station for all zones. This will get you from the airport into town, then all around town on the Metro (or the bus, or the train), and out the other side to Versailles if you wanted…
The immediate locale to the hotel is full of little restaurants and bars. It’s really typically Parisian. On the Saturday morning, there is a proper open air market selling EVERYTHING. There are boulangeries, and patisseries, and in lots of the cafés, lots of local were sat out having their breakfast or a coffee or their dinner them; always a good sign! There is an amazing Carre Four nearby, with all manner of things that Parisians clearly just take for granted, but most other people would think a bit ritzy (I love looking in other countries supermarkets, and am usually disappointed…). It’s a short walk then down to the Place de Revolution (where the Bastille once stood) and the river, and then you could walk along the river into the city centre. Or get the Metro…
So in terms of location, value and amenities, we deffo will return and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
TIP: Get the travel pass. If this is your first time to Paris, be aware: keep that little metro pass safe AND the receipt. Its really annoying that it’s a paper ticket, and small, but there is an electronic record of your purchase (my partner had to change his) so that makes life easier.

Nice modern and clean Ibis chain member near the bastille and the great Sunday Market. Stayed there with friends for a Covid delayed 60th birthday trip. The rooms were small but comfy, quiet and spotlessly clean. The bed was very nice and teh shower worked a treat (only one towel each though?). The lobby and bar area was spacious with good seating, quiet corners and WiFi and charging easily discoverable. Breakfast was to a reasonable standard for a chain, with both indoor and outdoor seating. And the hotel location, being up a ne-way side street, was just a few hundred yards from the Place de la Bastille.... which made it an excellent base for exploring the central area of Paris starting from the East. (and the Metro was at the end of the road).
The only thing hat let the hotel down was the staff in the restaurant - they appeared untrained or semi-trainied, and struggled to 'do' the food service or the bar service in the evenings. (the food was quite good though!)

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights - the room is great and the hotel looks really nice.
It is important for you to know that when we checked in to this hotel we surprised to hear that the room will not be cleaned at all during our stay. (The receptionist told us it's due to covid issue, I can tell I stayed in 3 ibis hotels in the last month and never heard about this "covid issue" before.
As well, the check in at 12, we wanted to store our luggage and travel without suitcases in the city, but we discovered that the storage cost money (and it's also the first time I hear about this).
Ibis is a great chain and I love stay there, but this issues made me think if I want to stay there next time.

We stayed here while in Paris for the 6 Nations rugby match and stopped two nights. The hotel is in a central location so it's easy to walk or catch the Metro to most tourist attractions, there's also a big market just along the road on Sunday which offers some great deals on produce and snack meals. Check in was quick, because there were 3 separate desks in the foyer, and all of the staff spoke English. The room itself was immaculately clean but, as for all Ibis budget hotels, it was fairly small. That said whoever designed it had been able to cleverly fit everything you needed into a tight space - no wardrobes but open hanging space and shelving, a triangular bathroom where everything just seemed to work. We never seemed to feel crowded despite the size of the room. There were no tea/coffee making facilities but there was a large TV and powerful hairdryer. Breakfast was the big disappointment - apart from the croissants and coffee it was very poor, I think we should have gone to a local cafe instead. For dinner we went to Le P'tit Breguet just around the cornr which I can highly recommend.

This is a basic hotel the rooms are very clean and comfortable if compact, plenty of lifts underground car park at reasonable cost is definitely a asset.Couple of minor niggles
1 the towels are very small and if you shower after breakfast you have them all day.
We opted for breakfast which is just above ok but don’t be late on Sunday despite arriving at 09:00 it’s says it runs till 10 there was literally nothing left a few scraps of ham only one sort of cheese no baguette’s only a few misshapen croissants no preserves and the coffe machine was empty.
Whilst I accept all of these things can be asked for it points to a lack of care as I should not have to. The table staff lacked any direction and one young girl simply walked around with a spotlessly clean cloth for 30mins. Shame as I visit ibis a lot and it’s not typical.
I will come back hopefully things will improve I may ask for my Sunday breakfast to be refunded.

Really nice hotel full decorated with hundreds of house plants. Very cosy feeling. When we arrived we were checked in quickly and had to pay around 11 euros tax for 3 nights. We stayed in room 304 next to the lift but it was very quiet and there was no disturbance from the lift.

The room itself was small and simple but had everything you’d need. 2 single beds pushed together but with separate duvet covers. A few hangers in an open wardrobe. A chair and desk. A TV with Chromecast built in so you can watch Netflix/YouTube etc. There was lots of mirrors and plug sockets. The bathroom was again small but fine, with a toilet, sink, shower and hairdryer. The shower leaked a lot so we asked for more towels to put on the floor and they gave us 2 extras which was fine. The hairdryer was powerful enough for my long, thick hair so no need to take your own.

The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, more than my own bed at home and definitely the best in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The beds were made up every day and the room was always clean. The air con worked well and kept the room nice and cold.

The only issue I found was that there was no blinds on the window. This was a bit of an issue on the weekdays because our room was opposite an office block so we couldn’t open the curtains for light without being seen.

We paid for breakfast in our holiday package and paid £3 per person, per day. The breakfast was a buffet style with crepes, croissants, pain au chocolats, madeleines, cheese, ham, toast, cereal, coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice etc.

The hotel has a supermarket next door and lots of nice cafes and restaurants near by. There is a pizza restaurant across the road where the margarita was about 10 euros and very nice. It was much cheaper to eat around the hotel than in some other, more touristy Arrondissements.

There was a huge market on Sunday morning a few minutes walk from the hotel which I would recommend, half food half clothes and other items.

There is a few metro links within 5 minutes walk of the hotel, Bastille being the biggest with the most links.

Overall I would pick an Ibis again to stay in, especially if it had been updated recently.

These can improve the experience a lot with very minor tweaks:
1) More towels can be put in the room.
2) Garbage can be put in the room (there was only in the toilet)
3) Minibar can be added.
4) Slippers can be added

Apart from these, our room was clean and the staff were very friendly.
The room is small but sufficient in my opinion. It is a very reasonable choice if you plan to spend most of your time outside in Paris. In a good location, you can easily reach all of them by metro bus.

Great location, clean and friendly.
Beds super comfy with great duvets. The rooms are small but all you need with plenty of hanging /shelf space. Tv but no kettle.
Bathroom a tight squeeze, but hey, you’re in Paris! Not going to be in your room much.

Hotel breakfast ok, bit of a production line feel, not brilliant quality but plenty of it. Boulangerie nearby has better pastries.

Bar is small but welcoming, with an outside terrace, good range of drinks, but other bars nearby are cheaper during happy hour.

The location is perfect, bastille metro 10 mins walk for line 1, 2 other metro stops within 7 mins for line 5. Loads of bars and restaurants close by, really convenient but still quiet at night as it feels residential around the hotel - we asked for a room over courtyard and it was quiet.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay. The hotel is in a great area with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, supermarkets and a choice of two metro stations. The room is small but adequate for Paris and the price we paid. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was good, buffet style, fruit, cereal, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, bread, pastries, fruit juice and hot drinks. There is also a nice bar. We had a double room on the fifth floor which has recently been renovated. We would definitely return.

An exceptionally disappointing experience. These rooms are below small, in that when two suitcases are brought into the room there is barely room to walk around. There is no wardrobe, or anywhere else, to unpack the suitcases. Two single beds pushed up against each other does not qualify as a twin room.
The bathrooms are smaller than a closet, I am not a big person however showering was an uncomfortable experience. If you are more meaty I suggest you are not going to shower during your visit here.
The check-in practice is a nightmare, as nobody is checked in before 3pm regardless whether rooms are ready. We were part of a group of over 90 and were kept waiting for over an hour. Just on 3pm a coach load of patrons turned up and received priority check-in. Our group were not happy.
The breakfast service is a hit & miss. It is scheduled as 6am to 10am. However, the refilling of the menu is so poor that any time after 7am you could find there is nothing much left. The staff for the most part lacked any personality and any attempt to interact with them was met with a scowl.
I have stayed at a number of Accor properties throughout my travels but this has to be my very worst experience.
