We had a wonderful visit in September, we stayed only 2 nights on our way through, but the staff and hotel were amazing. The breakfast was incredible, we arrived very early on check in day, they accommodated us and fed us the most delicious breakfast! Staff always had great recommendations. We would definitely stay again. Watching the Canal was so fun, and we felt close to everything! You can take a train from the airport almost directly there and staff provided great instruction.

Dear Guests, Thank you so much for your very kind comments about our hotel, its location and our staff :) We are very glad that you have enjoyed our lovely neighbourhood and it is true that it is a small Parisian gem - still growing and ever-changing, but also bustling with life! Hope to welcome you again soon. Best, Chaim and Emilie

My husband and I had very lovely stay at Le Citizen! We stayed in the Junior L room which was spacious, comfortable and had an awesome view right on the canal. We loved watching the boats go through the locks right from our bed.
Check-in was a little awkward as there's no real reception area. It's at the counter in their cafe downstairs. But the staff was friendly and stowed our bags while we waited for our room to be ready.
The included breakfast was incredible. Your choice of freshly cooked meal (we had eggs and bacon) plus pastries, coffee, tea, juice, and more was all included.
Though the traffic can be a little busy and noisy at peak hours, we had no trouble sleeping at night (I'm a very light sleeper) and it really just added to the lively atmosphere of the area. There are so many cafes and shops in walking distance. Metro is a short walk away. Overall I definitely recommend staying at this hotel!

Dear guest, Thank you so much for your review and we appreciate you taking the time to write it! It is great to hear that you enjoyed your room and the view of the Canal, as well as our breakfast! As a small hotel, we do have a slightly "mobile" reception but we make sure you know who to speak to and all of our team members are always at the disposition of the guests if you have any questions or need help. We hope that you will think of us for your future stay :) Best wishes, Emilie

Came here almost 10 years ago with my family and loved it so much that I wanted to return. It isn't quite as nice now and I don't know if I would've splurged knowing this, but we still had a great time.

From the reviews I've read it seems that breakfast keeps changing, so here's what was served in mid-July: coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, croissant or pain de chocolat, yogurt with granola. All superb quality.

The location overlooking the canal is fantastic and absolutely the hotel's most special feature. Very fun to watch boats go by and hang out there at night.

We had two serious issues, though:

1) The wifi didn't work at all in almost 2/3 of our room, and even though we brought it up with the staff multiple times, it wasn't resolved during our 5 day stay.

2) The cleaning staff seemed to use our room as a storage closet and would repeatedly knock on the door wanting to retrieve items like vacuum cleaners and comforters. Once a staff member knocked and, before we could open the door, walked straight into our room. That was of course really uncomfortable and we hope that the management will make changes to allow the doors to be locked from the inside.

I looked at the pictures and read several reviews online before settling on this hotel, for a surprise Paris trip. My Mom & I arrived at the hotel. Upon checking in, our initial room didn't appear anything like the pictures. We were then 'upgraded' to a room on the top floor, 'supposedly,' one of their best rooms. Mind you, 'we,' my Mom & I, traveled from the U.S.A. for this dream birthday trip, so we tried to my the accommodations work. The outside noise was Extremely loud to the point of being unbearable, not to mention, the room was cold as well. There were (2) space heaters that clearly weren't able to adequately heat the room. After a few hours of this horrible situation, we decided to checkout. As I was assisting the Uber driver placing the bags in the trunk, when Mom fell, while existing the hotel. I listed in the notes beforehand, my Mom had a slight issue walking. The entry way has a small incline that is a 'complete tripping hazard' for any individual, let alone, someone with difficulties. The owner, Sophie, refused to refund 'any' of our money back! On my Mom's birthday, her ankle was swollen and we missed an engagement because of it. I would steer clear of this hotel, if you want to enjoy a peaceful rest. I would rate this establishment a zero, if it was an option. HORRIBLE HOTEL!!!

It’s never pleasant to receive and read negative reviews. As a small independent hotel with a boutique, as opposed to a luxury style, although we endeavor, we can not please everyone. With this said we do aim to provide the best possible experience to all guests. In the light of the circumstances, we did the best we could, upgrading you to our top floor suite, sadly it wasn’t enough, we at Le Citizen regret that the hotel did not live up to your expectations. Reviews such as these allow us to learn and improve future experiences. As for the noise, we are located in a lively neighborhood which more often than not is seen as bonus to our guests, however despite our double glazing, some of that liveliness can seep in from time to time, we hope the view of the canal and the 10th can make up for some occasional disturbance. Wishing you and your mother the best for the remainder of your stay in Paris Chaim and the rest of the team at Le Citizen

Le Citizen was a great find! The location can't be beat...located next to the canal with many shopping and dining opportunites nearby...and three Metro stations within walking distance. The staff was friendly, and they served a quick breakfast each morning. The room was tiny, but very light and airy with a fantastic view of the canal and neighborhood...they even had air conditioning.

This is definitely one of my favourite hotels in paris! Coming from someone who has been to paris quite a few times, Le Citizen hotel is a great find for someone traveling with friends or a partner.

The location is exactly what we were looking for: enough quiet and safe during the night, but fun, authentic and lively during the day! It was very nice to meet a lot of locals in the evening as Canal Saint-Martin is apparently a popular hanging out spot. Even though the hotel is a bit far away from all the big tourist attractions (15-30 min by metro), we found this as a plus, since the area was not crammed with tourists and expensive places, but good, reasonably priced local restaurants and shops. I would especially recommend the restaurant Hotel du Nord: great food and live music, right next to the hotel!

The interior of the hotel room was clean but also cozy. It had all the necessities we needed: a fridge, a hairdryer etc. We read a lot about noise complaints in the reviews, but atleast we did not have this problem, with the earplugs we received from the hotel room we slept very well.

Overall the hotel was a nice calm boutique hotel. Affordable, tidy, 24h reception, and welcoming service from staff. Special thanks to Chaim, who was very helpful and friendly to us all throughout our stay. Thank you Le Citizen!

I’ve previously stayed at CitizenM hotels in other European cities and this one didn’t disappoint: clean, functional rooms with air conditioning. The design is carefully thought out, with a simple button to turn off all lights at night within easy reach of the bed.

The staff in Paris are a real plus - super helpful and on the ball.

The communal spaces are also cool - relaxed spaces to catch up on work and enjoy a drink. In particular, loved the view from the 16th floor lounge.

This is a favorite! So nice decorated hotel with few rooms. Situated just next to the St Martin Canal. All rooms have view to the canal and you will see boats sluice. The room was modern and low key stylish, but soon there is time for some minor renovations. A lovely lady checked us in, and nice man checked us out. They were very informative, positive and helpful. The other days the staff was younger boys/students, and you felt like you bothered them by just asking to get your prepaid breakfast or asking about checkout time – not unfriendly and did what they were supposed to do. Breakfast was great with bread, yoghurt with granola, French pastries etc. Will return!

Rooms are on the small side (no space to set up my TRX), but well-designed. Not much lounge space in the room, but the ground floor cafe is a great space to grab a cup of coffee, work on a laptop, or just hangout and watch Parisian life go by on the Quay de Jemmapes. The staff are super kind and helpful. The neighborhood is full of interesting cafes and shops. You’re about a 30 minute walk from the Louvre, the Marais, Les Halles, 20 minutes to the park at Buttes-Chaumond. 15 minute walk to the Gare du Nord. And yet, in spite of its convenient location it never feels as though you’re in the middle of tourist Paris. Instead, you’re amongst French people doing French people things.

The only downside is that it can be somewhat loud on the canal late at night but it never caused me to lose sleep. And the hotel provides earplugs.

Can’t wait to come back!

They will set up a car service from the airport, but we used the Paris Metro and the RER B train when we left to fly out from Chas. DeGaulle. I'm assuming it was far cheaper and it was quick and efficient.
