Stayed here in April on a business trip to Paris, and was very pleased with the ratio of what I got and how much I paid for it. Was very easy to move around with the metro and the buses close by, and there were all the necessary things close by, like the convenience store, a boulangerie, and a couple of restaurants. All in all, I liked the neighbourhood as it felt central/not-comatose-dead without being over-run with tourists. The staff were lovely, and very obliging with our requests for giving out separate receipts and so on.

As for the negatives, though I think the other reviews probably have it covered, but in short: it's a cheap hotel in a nice area of Paris. No, you can't have it all. So the rooms are not that great or romantic, it has a bit of a damp smell to it, and the lift is tiny. I myself didn't really care about any of the above, so I was perfectly happy. However, just in case someone is misled by the name: if you want to have a romantic getaway in Paris with an S.O., yeah, this isn't the place for you. If you don't really care much about where you sleep as long as it's reasonably clean, then go ahead and book here.

I booked them via Booking.com and the booking was wrong, I wanted a 2 people room instead of a 1 individual room. They didn't solve my problem so I had to book another hotel and lose the money of this booking

Location quite handy near Place d'Italie and with easy bus access to Gare de Lyon. Night life quite scarce. Very tiny rooms with no fridge or water cooker. The soap handle in the shower was broken. No air conditioning. I actually felt scary the first night.

Located just off Avenue Gobelins, 100 metres from Les Gobelins Metro, 250 metres from Place d'Italie Metro, close to local shops, restaurants, bars etc., yet quiet and peaceful. Helpful and friendly staff, rooms clean and serviced daily. If travelling by motorcycle as we did, there is choice of free parking very nearby.

Firstly the negatives. Damp in the room; toilet door didn't close let alone lock, leaving a nice sound and odour for everyone else. Mould on the wall by the window; no tea, coffee, iron, or anything you might find as standard elsewhere in the room. Sink gurgled harshly every time anyone flushed their loo on our side of the building; workmen banging and hammering from about 9.30 a.m. and the smallest lift in the world. I hope the fat Americans are reading this because you won't fit in it guys. It is about a half-hours walk from le quartier latin, so, please, no more false advertising saying your 'close' to it because you're not. Now for the positives: The greatest French staff I've met, and I've met a lot. They recognise the inadequacies of the hotel and allow you to use the kettle, etc, although there's no iron! Cleaners are great and relaxed. You're not.kicked out at 11 with "housekeeping". Its on a relatively quiet street and there is a Franprix, Pressing (no iron, remember?) and boulangerie close by. You're juxtaposed between Les Gobelins and Campo Formio metro. The latter good from Gare due Nord and CDG. And most importantly, the wife slept as the bed was firm. Room was always warm. In general, if you're not overly fussy, then this is a relatively cheap and relatively central option. One might think, given recent events in Paris, that the prices of rooms would have dropped to entice the worried, however, if Paris is one thing, its communist:,in other words, ALL the hoteliers keep their prices relatively high and the same, and it wouldn't matter what happens, they never change and thats how they like it. Paris needs a MacDonalds of the hotel world to get these ridiculous prices down. And now with the Euro not worth a pudding and the room tax from last year added to it, I'm not sure I'll be back. Everything is expensive anyway - its Paris, and whilst it remains the most highly visited capital (and country) in the world why would the French care anyway? I think the monopoly of high hotel prices needs to be challenged for the future.
