Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only stayed one night in this charming bijou hotel. Emmanuel gave us a very warm welcome and advice for our evening in St Malo. Well worth the visit and would love to have a longer stay. The hotel is in a convenient and attractive location to reach the ferry and walk to the old town.

We stayed here the night before catching an early ferry back to the UK. The first thing you notice is what a beautiful building it is set behind wrought iron gates that date back to the 18th century. As we have the dog with us they offered us the garden room in the basement. This was more like an apartment and what had probably once been a basement full of garden tools had been transformed into this luxury apartment with room for at least three people to sleep. All of the facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. Our hosts provided the best breakfast we've had for a long time of fresh croissant's bread homemade jam and cakes. The perfect set up for a day on the ferry.

We stayed 2 nights at this charming hotel. We arrived early and our room was not quite ready so we were able to enjoy drinks in the garden. Saint Servan is a lovely quiet location but within walking distance of St Malo centre and the beaches and some fantastic restaurants (great recommendations from the hotel). The room was very pretty and clean & comfortable and the breakfast was amazing, the most delicious breads and cakes, and yoghurts and fruit. Everything was local including bowls of cherries from Helene's parent's garden and homemade rhubarb jam! We were thoroughly looked after and would love to return.

We stayed at the Ascott based on the listing in the Michelin guide, and in this case the recommendation was flawless. You could describe the Ascott as a boutique hotel in a traditional French town house. The decor is immaculate and tasteful, the rooms are spotless - if a little on the bijou side - and, most significantly, the staff are completely charming and warm. Nothing was too much trouble for the young man and lady who greeted us and advised us on the area. The Divine (€100) room's bathroom was a little on the small side, but the Fontainebleau (€139) on the top floor was a little more spacious. The organic breakfast (€10pp supplement) was simple but delicious - we were offered it to be served in our room, the restaurant or garden. The WiFi was a little unreliable, but

I am partial to l'hotel particuliers when I am staying outside of Paris because I find that they have so much history and are just so beautiful. L'Ascott does not disappoint. It's gorgeons on the outside and so charming and cozy on the inside. We got a standard room, and it was just perfect. We had everything we needed with the bonus of a beautiful balcony. The small staff is so sweet (speaks english if needed) and provides excellent service. The breakfast was just perfect, with the best yogurt that I have ever tasted. My husband slept in one morning and they made me a tray to take back to the room with me. They have maintained the original character of the mansion and is gorgeous inside. You are able to walk anywhere you need to from the property and it is very safe on

Having booked a ' superior' room with twin beds we were very disappointed with the size of the room. Situated at the act of the house I found it hard to recognise the word superior. The outside of the hotel was very attractive but the room, compared to others we stayed in for the same price did not measure up. And was there a lounge area ? If so we didn't find it.

We stayed here for one night and were totally charmed by it. It’s a beautiful old house with a winding central staircase and a lovely proprietor who doesn’t speak much English. Exactly what we were looking for! The breakfast was also delicious and plentiful and our room was up in the eaves overlooking the garden. Fairly basic but clean and comfy. Would absolutely go back if we are ever in the area again – and hopefully we will be!

We stayed at this delightful hotel for four nights enjoying our stay immensely. In terms of size it's not large and operates on a room and optional breakfast only. The room we had overlooked the rear garden and although a little small was perfectly functional, comfortable and clean. The garden is also open to residents and in fairness the room size is a function of the original building which seems to have been preserved in terms of character at least, on conversion to a hotel. Parking is limited on site and a word of caution! There is room for six cars at the front of the hotel but access is through the original gate which can be a little tight and impossible for larger vehicles I would suggest. There is, however, street parking as well. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of
