Nestled along the beach, Hôtel Du Palais Biarritz garners praise for its luxurious amenities, including a modern spa and stunning pool with ocean vistas. Guests revel in the spacious, opulent rooms and the hotel's immaculate cleanliness.
The service at this regal retreat is consistently lauded, with staff members recognized for their attentiveness and friendliness. While the on-site dining is considered pricey, travelers feel the overall experience and prime location near local attractions justify the cost.

Detailed Reviews
My wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel in desperate need of some rest and relaxation. Our stay was faultless, from the incredibly warm welcome and tour by Sandra and personal greeting by Mrs Barwell Nassar (we think she's the Director of the hotel).
Our room was spotless, it felt like the first time anyone had stayed in it, the bed linen, the bath, the Guerlain gels and creams, it was faultless. The view was quite extraordinary as it overlooks the beach and sea.
This was our second visit and this time we were struck with how young the team was but equally how brilliant they all were!!! There were no COVID excuses, the staff were extremely friendly, smiley and available for all of our needs. All were brilliantly trained, impeccably dressed and made the stay just perfect. We would like to personally call out Emma, The lady working in the spa, Sandra, Theo (the master gin and tonic maker) and the charming lady who greeted guests at breakfast. Note, the team is also international which didn't go unnoticed, even one of the Room Maids was British!!!!
Talking of breakfast, the made to order dishes were delicious, my favourite being the waffles. The pastries were also some of the best we have ever eaten, even better than some of the 5 star properties we stay at in Switzerland.
I could go on but my wife and I would like to thank all of the staff for this splendid 3 day break and we look forward to visiting again soon.

One of the Grandest and refined hotels to stay at.
We were upgraded to a magnificent suite on the first floor
The room we had was huge with a very modern large bathroom and dressing room etc
The terrace off one of the rooms was enormous.
The public areas were luxurious spacious and comfortable.
Both Reception and Concierge were more than welcoming and at all times very helpful.
Biarritz is a refined town with beautiful buildings built at the turn of the century when it was frequented by Russian Nobility who incidentally built an Orthodox Church as well as a synagogue almost next door!
Both are in use today.

“The Hotel du Palais Biarritz is a beautifully restored palace inside and out. It has a prime location right on the expansive beach yet it is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and sights. The public rooms are elegant yet welcoming. The restaurant may be the most beautiful room in which we have ever had breakfast especially if you are seated at the huge windows overlooking the sea. It is beautiful at sunset too. We did not opt for a sea view deluxe room because our stay was short and we did not expect to spend much time in the room. We were delighted with our choice of a deluxe room with king bed overlooking the hotel entrance court. We had a lovely sunrise view of the town. The room was quite spacious and graciously furnished. Unfortunately our brief stay did not allow us to take advantage of the spa or other hotel amenities as our goal was to get a taste of the Pays Basque. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We could not have asked for better.”

On August 11 at 22:00 at the bar we ordered fried foie gras and we were told that it is impossible and that you can order and eat it only in the Rotunda restaurant. We then booked at table at 19:30 at the restaurant for the 13th of August and were the first ones to arrive at 19:30 sharp.
We ordered the foie gras and waited minimum 30 minutes - all the restaurant managers said that this dish could not be ordered here and only done in the bar, as a result we were forced to move to the bar where we waited exactly an hour until at least something was brought to us. On top of that they moved us 15 meters from the lobby to eat the fried foie gras and then back and forth and wasted 15 minutes arguing with the waiter. Surprised really, as the client is always right but perhaps at Hotel du Palais the waiter is always right.
Food and appetisers have been brought after one hour and a half. Initially we were told at the bar that foie gras could be eaten only at the restaurant, then at the restaurant they said it could only be eaten at the bar?!?! Nonsense.
Due to the above, we were forced to leave the restaurant at 21:00 after an hour and a half of waiting with a very hungry 6 years old child. Because of this we had to go to another restaurant to feed my son.
In addition, we have been charged 400 euros extra at reception compared to the actual bill.
We have been the hotel’s guests for over 8 years!! Never seen anything like this.
On another hand and more positive note, I would also like to mention that on reception there was a lovely lady called Olga, she was extremely helpful and very friendly!
Same goes to the general manager of the hotel, Alessandro Cresta – very professional and of great help.
However, the restaurant and bar service as well as the service by the pool must improve.

+1
Stay in early June for 4 nights and absolutely love it. The hotel is newly refurbished but kept its original grand and historical characters.
As I am a Hyatt globalist, the hotel reception team went extra miles to give me a few suite upgrade options. I really appreciate this as their suite upgrade policy is consistent with other Hyatt brand despite this is a bespoke property under hyatt unbound collection. The staffs were all very polite, extremely attentive and remember all guest names which made the service so personal. I eventually settled with an junior suite with ocean view which directly face to the ocean with a french windows/balcony. Opening the window, you can feel the breeze, have sunbath till late 8pm, and the waves and sound of the ocean went straight to your heart and it was just unforgettable. I also received a lovely fruit plate as welcome amenity with a signed letter.
The breakfast included a buffet section which serves cold and continental breakfast and juices. It has the best view and again face directly to the ocean. The hot food are made to order but with no limit which make it basically high quality a la carte buffet. The breakfast team went extra mile to get me ice latte and cream for pancake. The chef made good hot food with excellent presentation.
The imperial club swimming pool open till 7pm. All staff are polite, would take you to the seat lounge where you want and make the sun bed for you. The lounge seats around swimming pool are all free for guest and front section again face directly to the ocean which give your magnificent view and it also has a small kid pool. The swimming pool are heated to a perfect temperature and it’s like a direct extension of ocean because as its like sea water and a bit salty. It’s not cold and not hot which resembles the sea temperatures.
The food and drinks are similar to any 5 star property, but given the quality and special character of this hotel, it’s not excessive nor ridiculous at all ( 20 euro for an signature cocktail is what you expect) . The hotel also has a Michelin star restaurant with very reasonable price tag , which deserve a try.
This is one of the best aspirational hyatt properties in Europe and the crown jewel of Biarritz. I will definitely come back.

The location of the hotel is amazing, you can walk to everything you need to see in the centre and the outdoor pool is beautiful. Unfortunately I found the rooms not up to expectations, we had booked a two bedroom suite as we were travelling with children. However, we had to shut the two doors between us and the children because otherwise the emergency sign would light up the whole room (and these were self-locking doors). Also if you opened the bedroom door it blocked the bathroom, no this is not what I expect from a 5* hotel! And in the bar, when it wasn't busy, it took 20 mins for someone to come and see if we wanted a drink - again, this is a 5* hotel, I expect better.

Our fourth stay at the hotel and first since the renovation. The hotel has undergone a profound renovation that in my opinion has made it lose the character, charm and personality it had. Period furniture has been replaced with others without any appeal, impressive curtains with material that is apparently of poor quality. The rooms practically remain very similar, the only thing that has been changed are the bathrooms, specifically ours was minimal. You practically couldn't open the shower door without hitting the front door. The televisions are still the old ones because it is inconceivable these days that a 5-star hotel does not have a Smart TV, which makes communication between the television set and the guest's mobile phone or tablet at all times completely impossible. . The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very well soundproofed, but obviously the cache they had before has clearly been lost.
As for the restaurant, in my opinion the new decoration of the lavish room where the dining room is located, detracts greatly from the old one. As far as the staff is concerned, we have to say that they are the best there is in the hotel, pleasant to the smallest detail, but as far as those who work in the dining room are concerned, although they do their best, there is evidently a clear lack of an experienced waiter to bring a little order and style.
In our case, the table had a set of salt, vinegar and oil that looked more like a burger than a luxury restaurant. Nobody took the breadcrumbs from us once we finished the main courses to move on to dessert. In this regard, I was able to observe how the neighbor at my table removed them with his mobile phone, a total absence of amuse-bouche, which in France in a restaurant of this category is absolutely unthinkable. General confusion with the waiters who bring you things that you have not asked for and I want to insist again on the will and kindness of the people who work in the restaurant but obviously they need direction from an expert hand that in the case I mention shines for his absence. I have to highlight that the breakfast has nothing to do with the one before the reform, I remember the carts with cakes and cheeses, and it catches my attention that in a hotel, which boasts of having a master pastry chef at breakfast time alone There is an otherwise very vulgar cheesecake. I have to highlight that having ordered a tea for breakfast, the supposedly silver jug that was brought to me was yellow, obviously it cannot be tolerated in a restaurant of this category for the dishes to be dirty as was the case. In short, the hotel has lost its charm, that is something undeniable, the staff strives to make the guest's stay as pleasant as possible, both in terms of the people who take care of the vehicles, the luggage, the reception and in the dining room, but obviously and above all in the dining room, the hand of a head waiter is missing to give order to these very willing children but logically lacking knowledge due to their age.

Staying in the Hotel du Palais is the only way to appreciate the best of Biarritz. Located on the Grand Plage, this spectacular building provides the full experience from the history, quality of the rooms, spa facility, Michelin star Restaurant, beach and swimming pool.
La Rotonde restaurant was a spectacular and memorable experience in terms of originality, setting by the window of the Salon Imperial overlooking the sea and sunset. The service, knowledge and warmth of the staff was amongst the best I have had in this type of restaurant.
The swimming pool is large and the ability to walk down from the hotel and go straight in the sea to swim was excellent with the spectacular waves on some days.
Le Sunset restaurant by the pool was the only low point with limited choice, poor quality and poor service for a hotel of this standing.
I look forward to returning

The Hotel du Palais Biarritz feels like a palace where you will be treated like royalty. The hotel itself is magnificent. It is a former palace for Emperor Napoleon Iii and his wife Eugenia, but it has been modernized and maintained so it does not feel stuffy. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and well appointed baths with walk in shower and separate bathtub. Our room had French doors which opened onto a balcony overlooking the main plage (beach). The staff, especially in the dinning room, was attentive and friendly. You could not ask for a nicer or better hotel to spend a special occasion. Lastly, the hotel’s location is perfect, right on the beach and within easy walking distance of shopping, the sights and the main part of town. What a wonderful time we had.

We tried to order room service at 22.50 on a Saturday night so not let. We wanted French fries and a sandwich. We were told the kitchen is closed and this was not possible. I asked to speak to the night manager. Apparently there isn’t one - so not sure who is actually in a charge of the hotel. And for this we were being charged almost €1,000 for the night…seriously, a top 5* hotel. Really not good enough.
