Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent choice for a weekend stay in Bordeaux.. location was amazing , you could walk to the center of the city or take the tram , beside the River for magnificent walks or stroll to the Cite du vin

The hotel is attached to a hospitality school with a wonderful team of young aspiring hoteliers to look after you during your stay .

The rooms are wonderfully and thoughtfully designed with amenities that you would normally only find in a 5 star hotel .

Breakfast is a little complicated due to Covid but was still very good .

Definitely can recommend this property for a stay in beautiful Bordeaux.

I always love our stays at this hotel. The staff are friendly & helpful. The rooms are large, comfortable & spotless. The location of the hotel is great for us as we love that area of Bordeaux & it is only a few tram stops from city centre.

We stayed in the deluxe room for several days prior to starting a river cruise. Vatel is just across the boulevard from cruise ship dock and the metro tram line B stop is practically at the door for easy transportation to anything worthwhile in Bordeaux. The hotel and its restaurant is part of a hospitality business school so staff is young but very eager to serve.
The deluxe room (114) is huge with king bed. It has private entrance reached thru the dining room and patio and up a flight of outdoor steps. The dining room was open only for breakfast and lunch when we were there so getting to our room was not a problem.
Management was very responsive to minor plumbing issue we encountered. Breakfast was a typical continental but very good.

We stayed for 5 nights and had a delightfully peaceful time in this small hotel with attentive, but discrete, service. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable, overlooking the courtyard at the rear of the hotel, where we enjoyed breakfast each morning. The location provides easy walking access to the many attractions of Bordeaux. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

The hotel is located a few steps from the tram stop that takes you to the center or to the Cite' du Vin, therefore convenient for visiting the city.
It is also close to the river and the beautiful riverside promenade.
We were greeted with courtesy by the night employee.
Our room decorated in a classic modern style was clean and very spacious. There was a machine for making coffee or tea. The bathroom was clean and with a small courtesy set.
Breakfast, a buffet and not made to order as I had read in some reviews, is served on the ground floor. It's not very varied but satisfying.
The restaurant, which uses interns from a hotel school, was closed due to the Easter holiday period and I find this not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel.
The reception was available to provide us with useful information for visiting the city.
The hotel had booked the taxi for us to get to the hotel from the airport, indicating the price. The taxi driver charged us the night surcharge. The hotel, without our request, kindly refunded us the difference in price.

Hotel Vatel is a modern hotel a few tram stops from the city center. The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms lovely. Plus, there was a full size elevator!! Our main purpose for visiting Bordeaux was to do a wine tour, so we did not do too much exploring in the city. I think there were probably things around the hotel that we did not have time to investigate. We were there two nights and both nights we took the tram to the city center for dinner. The breakfast at the hotel was very good and all of the staff very nice and helpful.

Our Viking cruise reception recommended this hotel when we had to stay overnight. Charming, great location, excellent reception. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant supports a cooking school and our dinners were creative and delicious. We would definitely stay there again, for a longer visit.

Beautiful hotel in a good location, spacious and very clean room. Arrival before noon without problem if room is made. The only downside is the breakfast not very varied with little choice but which is explained by the very limited number of rooms. Tram stop opposite.

The location was nearly perfect - close enough to the old town without being in the center of all the bustle. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The recommendations we were given for nearby restaurants and places to visit were spot-on. The room was clean and the bathroom spacious. The breakfast was in a beautiful space although the food was a typical european breakfast buffet and not outstanding. But who goes to a hotel for the breakfast, anyway? Highly recommended.
