Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
FirstName Bordeaux Hotel garners acclaim for its stellar location, with guests frequently noting the ease of reaching the city center and airport via public transport. The hotel's amenities and modern design contribute to a welcoming atmosphere that guests love, although some have pointed out limited service options. The cleanliness of the premises generally receives high marks, but there have been isolated mentions of mug sanitation issues.
Room comfort and design earn praise, yet a few guests have raised concerns about amenity cleanliness. Service is a standout feature, with staff recognized for their attentiveness, and while the hotel is considered a good value, some visitors have commented on food pricing and breakfast charge transparency.

Detailed Reviews
A mystery - how did this hotel recruit such an extraordinary team of young people? Only in their 20s but confident in talking to guest of all ages, fluent in languages and calmly efficient. They instantly adopt a friendly but respectful approach and happily chat, sort problems, offer local knowledge, and daily go the extra mile. They never rush, take an interest in their guests and try to make everyone feel especially welcome. We were not thrilled by the restaurant so would have given an overall 4 stars, but we were recompensed by one of this team with a smile, a bottle of wine chosen for us based on our preferences, and the immediate reduction on a restaurant item we thought excessive. Anything less than 5 stars would be churlish.
We appreciated the attempts to be as eco as possible without scrimping on comfort. The concrete building is distinctly unattractive but the interior is slightly quirky and the decor interesting. Our room was fairly small but well equipped. We recommend picking one overlooking the trees rather than the somewhat bleak brutal architecture around. We enjoyed sitting on the comfortable bed to relax with a calming view of blue sky and green leaves.
The people in Bordeaux seem to be very friendly. On trams, in cafes and shops and museums, even just in the street, they smile, give way and exchange a pleasant word or two. We are not used to being in a city where cars stop at pedestrian crossings and wave us across! The beautiful buildings and magnificent squares and parks make for a lovely city. We were there at the time of the riots and understand all too well the huge disparity in housing and work and opportunities that exist everywhere. We know that we were privileged to be able to take this holiday and appreciate being made welcome.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in April 2023. It looks to be fairly new so the room, lobby area, restaurant/bar are all kitted out to a great standard. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but did have a drink at the bar after a long day exploring the city.
The hotel is in a great location, right on the edge of the historic city. It’s also super convenient for the airport, with the number one bus stopping just a two minute walk from the hotel.
Staff were really lovely and friendly at every point, from checking in to being at the bar. It all felt quite friendly and informal, but still professional at all times.
Overall, this is a lovely hotel and would definitely stay here again if I’m in Bordeaux again.

We paid slightly more than the basic room (Cocon) rate for the 22m2 (Cadette). The room was very comfortable, modern and well-laid out, with a large bed and excellent TV. Kettle, coffee making facilities and free water were all provided. The shower (no bath) was spacious with plenty of hot water. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, spoke excellent English and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Our early morning flight meant that we arrived at the hotel at around 1100, well before the stated 1500 check-in time. Our room was available so we were checked in right away, which was an unexpected bonus. If the room hadn't been ready, the hotel would have been very happy to look after our bags, which in fact they did when we checked out until we collected them for our evening flight. The hotel is very well situated right next to Tramline A, which conveniently gives direct access to and from the airport (much, much cheaper than a taxi) and easy access to the the rest of the quite excellent Bordeaux public transport system (get the TBM app). The Meriadeck shopping centre, which includes a huge Auchan hypermarket is just over the way. As well as taking advantage of the tremendous Bordeaux food scene, we enjoyed a couple of meals in the hotel's Le Bada restaurant. While the food was of good quality and very tasty, the menu choices were limited, although a daily special was available.

The hotel has modern facilities and a sustainable ecological philosophy. The bar is pleasant to have a drink, with music in tune with the place.
Although the room is quiet and the staff friendly, my conclusion has not been positive; mostly due to the lack of preparation and supervision of the staff.
Even though the 3 nights had been paid for days before our arrival, the lady at check-in did not warn us and also did not understand English when I told her twice that it had already been paid. The welcome could not have been worse because, incidentally, they did not explain to us the existence of a kitchenette on each floor for free use by clients with fruit, some candy, water and lemonade. We found out 24 hours after watching the hotel page on TV.
We found the bathroom small and the shower door uncomfortable to enter (at least in room 225).
There is only one place to hang towels, so the maid used the door on her own to hang them. Unheard of, I have never seen this in a hotel (see photo).
On the second afternoon of our stay we arrived at 7:00 p.m. and the room had not been cleaned. On the day of departure, a receptionist apologized to us, offering us a free day of parking. The funny thing is that we don't leave the car in their parking lot.
There are no excuses when the staff is not prepared or knows the languages to operate in a hotel, nor, worst of all, is supervised by expert staff. It is not worth the about 200 euros per night that I paid.

Spent a night at the hotel this week in the family suite and found the whole experience a delight. The staff were incredibly attentive, we arrived earlier than check and were sent. WhatsApp message when our room was ready which was great. Parking onsite was easy, very spacious car park spaces and a quite steep exit ramp up when you leave to get to street level!!
The suite was really nice, essentially two rooms with interconnecting door, nicely appointed rooms, and very new and fresh. There is a small kitchenette on each floor for complimentary soft drinks and teas/coffees and a cheeky sweet pot too!
Breakfast was good and the staff were really helpful, nothing was too much trouble and would highly recommend the hotel for its staff, rooms and location - easy to walk into the ville, a tram stop is outside and parking a breeze. Architecture is worth a mention as it's a very striking building, brutalist in design and a world away from more standard bland hotels!!

10/10 for everything about FirstName Bordeaux. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished, very relaxed and modern. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully laid out and we had the best night sleep - even asked where they got their beds and pillows from! Had dinner one evening and the food was sublime. There is a tram station close to the hotel and this takes you directly to the airport. Hotel is close to other restaurants and about a ten minute walk to many attractions. Highly recommend. This is a lovely hotel, very fresh and modern. It’s superbly clean and very well presented. There’s a lovely outside terrace where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an early evening drink. All the staff are so helpful and friendly as well as being efficient and professional. I haven’t picked anyone out as they were all excellent. The nearby tram stop makes getting across and around the city very easy and it’s very cheap to use. Very easy to get to this hotel from the airport by tram and only €1.70. If you do stay here do spot the wonderful clock in the lounge area, it’s mesmerising!

I used a mug the day of check in - and the next day, after our room was refreshed, I reached for the upside down mug (indicating it was a new/fresh one), and upon closer inspection, it still had tea stains/smells from the previous day, meaning they do not clean the mugs, and just rinse and put it back. Kind of gross considering I don't know whether they've washed it properly since the last guests at all. I have also fallen ill, which may or may not be due to this.

Although a little far away (15 to 20 minutes from the center on foot) this hotel is simply incredible. From the outside it looks so-so but the interior is great. Everything is atypical and it starts with the welcome. And the huge dog!!! All the people we have had to deal with are incredibly kind, but really nice people who don't force themselves because it's their job.
The bedroom was also incredible with little hidden gadgets such as the induction washer on the bedside table to charge phones or the remote control for the blinds hidden in the closet.
And the must is the kitchenette in the hallway with small snack fridge and......a fresh water tap which also makes sparkling water.
The hotel has direct access to the Meriadeck shopping center and at the foot there is the tram station of the same name which takes you to the center and a change at Porte de Bourgogne for the Saint Jean station.
So for sure, despite its somewhat high price, we will come back.
