Spotlessly clean and spacious room, with a view of Notre Dame, large comfy bed, toiletries in the bathroom, great shower, separate toilet no hand basin ( a guess that must be a French thing as we have stayed in a hotel in Paris which was the same). The panoramic breakfast room on the 7th floor has a fantastic view over the river and when the weather is warm you are able to take your delicious breakfast outside. There is plenty of choice, once you have found it, maybe the staff could have pointed out where everything was.

Located very near the river, within walking distance of restaurants, bars and small specialist shops in the delightful Chartrons district of Bordeaux, also close enough to the tram stop if you don't want to walk. There is an underground secure car park nearby which is quite expensive but worth it for peace of mind. I was a bit worried by some of the reviews about this hotel but I would definitely stay there again

We originally booked 3 nights but due to cancelled flight it became 2. We received notification on the morning that the room we had booked had aircon problems (with expected temperatures up to 40, aircin was essential). On arrival we checked what room we had and, I am not sure if the lady misunderstood or just lied, was told it was a Suite. The "Privilege" label gave it away. Later we asked to confirm this was correct and it was. No offer of a refund was offered, but on pressing a refund was agreed, even though we had asked whether they could just include breakfasts instead of a refund, "not possible", ok so the price of breakfasts was less than the refund? Not good business sense to me, but maybe they do not have the authority. Room was good, aircon worked but struggled with the heat. My daughter did not sleep that well, bed hard and pillows not confortable. My sofa bed was better but the pillows were so small. The provided cot was ok. Breakfasts were really good, great selection, fresh and well cooked. Friendly staff, great roof terrace for breakfast. So though I did not expect the missed night to be refunded I have yet to receive any acknowledgemnet of the refund for the downgrade. Will give it a few more days before taking it up with the agency.

Warm welcome and smooth check in. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
A modern hotel with some quirky items in the reception area and bedrooms
Our standard King Room was spacious and comfortable - it also had a fridge and safe.
The bathroom had a walk in shower had hot water when we needed it. Good size and quality towels.
Plenty of plugs and charging sockets in our bedroom
Breakfast had a good selection of food and drinks. This was served on the top (7th) floor with a view of the city/river.
A couple of minutes walk to CAPC Tram B stop - c10 minutes ride to/from Hotel de Ville

3.5/5 because the hotel is not at the level of a 4 star.

Pros: the staff is very friendly, the room is in line with the expectations made when booking (I had requested a bright room with large window), the bedding is very comfortable. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The tv screen is big, and it’s worth noting! It’s not that common. Washing products (shower gel, milk, shampoo conditioner...) are of good quality.
Also, the location of the hotel is good: possibility to rent bikes on the platforms just in front, lots of good restaurants nearby, 2 steps from the tram and the center of bordeaux.
The Air Conditioner works from the fire of God (almost too much!)

Cons: cleanliness is to be reviewed in the toilet, it is not normal that it is full of pie, it makes a really bad impression ... also, it is regrettable that a bath set is not available (cotton upper / cotton makeup remover) as in most hotels. Too bad the minibar does not offer anything to snack on. Also, since the reservation was made for two people it is surprising that only one bathrobe set was provided in the bathroom. Also, elevators are long to relax .. do not be in a hurry!

Finally the price of breakfast is scandalous! 23€ per PERSON per day? So a couple breakfast costs 46€ even though the neighborhood is full of small cafes that offer delicious pastries. This breakfast package system should not only be revised downwards, but also in its very nature: we are, for example, small eaters and a coffee, croissant and juice is enough for us to start the day. Too bad not to enjoy the hotel because the prices offered are unsuitable.

In conclusion, you can book this property perfectly, but in order not to feel like paying an inadequate price, keep these things in mind.

This is a business hotel mostly serving fairs and big events in the area but if someone needs to be close to the docks, the Cite du Vin or the cruise terminal, this is actually a rather perfect base. Very well equipped, it is great value for money and the rooftop where the breakfast is served, offers some of the best views in Bordeaux. It is very unfortunate that the terrace is currently closed for the evening hours, it would be a lovely spot to enjoy a cocktail or a glass of Bordeaux wine.

Firstly do not be fooled like I was by the Indigo web page (which avoids sharing actual pictures of the hotel). This hotel is the old Mercure which was shabby when they had it. The exterior resembles an 1980's office building with glass frontage. My heart actually sank when I realised where I had booked. My room (one of the suites), was located on the sixth floor, mostly business meeting rooms. The room was at best average but the windows had no ability to let air circulate, combine this with a very poor AC, resulted in greenhouse like temperature's in March, in summer it would be unbearable. The room itself was €340.00 per night had no towels, combined with pathetic AC and an overall aesthetic from the 70's was not good value. It was clearly squeezed onto the business floor to extract (gouge) suckers like me. The corridors to the room were poorly maintained with insufficient lighting, I would not be happy for any female co-workers to book there and in fact have instructed the HR team to delist the hotel.
The breakfast was frankly a disgrace, no food left at 08:30, poor staff, lack of care and very poor service, it was shocking.
On departure I spoke with the manager and shared my thoughts and concerns, they offered me a free breakfast at €23.00.
I'm not a serial reviewer or complainer but honestly, if you have another option please follow it, Bordeaux is one of my favourite cities, vibrant and full of adventures it deserves hotels far better than this one.

Stayed here for a few nights in august to start of September and it was amazing, such a great location 20 second or so walk from the entrance of the hotel to the trams so extremely useful. Staff were amazing, room was great too with a lovely view of the river and old architecture. Also the perk of having breakfast on the rooftop bar/restaurant was brilliant. Will be staying here again. 5 stars!

Disappointing Stay

Stayed at the Mercure Mondiale Centre-Ville Bordeaux hotel.

We had chosen this hotel for its highly acclaimed; rooftop bar, breakfast area and views across the city. We were extremely disappointed to discover upon arrival that these amenities were temporarily closed for refurbishment and further upset that the hotel failed or let alone attempt to update their website or contact us or any other guests prior to arrival..

Adding to our disappointment was the noticeable strong aroma of fresh paint that spread throughout the hotel. The strong paint smell made it challenging for a restful sleep. Would have been comforting had the hotel taken sufficient measures to mitigate the impact of the paint odor on guests comfort.

The newly renovated rooms were also another letdown. The ambiance was dark, dim and creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a basement rather than a welcoming accommodation. The craftsmanship appeared very poor, with noticeable signs of rushed workmanship. Am not even sure why they missed the toilet roll holder and mirror left on the floor

While I acknowledge that hotel renovations are a necessary part of maintaining quality standards; effective communication and minimizing disruptions are paramount. Unfortunately, the Mercure hotel fell short on all counts in thay regard. I do hope that the management will take this feedback constructively and make improvements to their communication strategies and service quality going forward…

Additionally, we did send an email to HQ on the above, but yet to receive any response or acknowledgement from their end. This lack of communication further compounded the frustration and disappointment…

I must mention that the hotel staff members were polite and helpful throughout our stay, which was a silver lining amidst the overall underwhelming poor experience…

As the temperature climbed in Bordeaux, I was subjected to 2 miserable nights sleep in a hot, stuffy exceptionally noisy room and this was after paying for an upgrade to a privilege room No 422.
On arrival the air conditioning was not working, I called reception to report the fault and they assured me it would be repaired. I reminded another receptionist as I left the hotel for dinner and again I was assured it would be fixed. On my return the air con had not been repaired. That night I could not sleep as it was unbearably hot and if the window was opened there was the continuous sound of heavy plant running.
At 9.10 am there was a knock at the door and an unannounced air con engineer arrives and changes the a/c filter, for 3 or 4 minutes the a/c worked, but on returning in the afternoon the a/c has stopped again. 2 more assurances were provided that it would be repaired failed and another miserable hot stuffy night with next to no sleep ensued.
I complained about my experience at check out and was introduced to the manager who told me there were no alternative rooms as the hotel was full. Lie!! My friend had arrived that day and had been provided a room with a/c. She also advised me that she could not offer financial compensation as I had booked via Expedia. Which I don't comprehend.
Finally she offered extra points if I joined the Mecure loyalty scheme. I advised her that I certainly was not going to join and in fact after this dreadful experience I would never stay in the Citi Mondail hotel or any other Mercure hotel ever again.
I am 70 years old and have travelled extensively in Europe and the US and in all that time I have never experiences such dreadful sleeping conditions and totally appalling customer service.
Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Large hotel, beautiful room but with a lot of information and decoration, almost no space to put your things. With a kettle and minibar, as well as water fountains on every floor and bottles available in the rooms to fill with water. Genius and sustainable!
Quality amenities and very good bathroom.
Breakfast varied and correct, in a super pleasant environment but nothing particularly unforgettable.
It's not super centralized: it's about 900m from the center on foot or, if you have a transport pass, there's a station just a few meters away, meaning it's easy to get around.
