The area around Bordeaux Gare Saint-Jean might not be the most attractive part of the city, but it is a convenient place, if one travels by train or uses the Express bus to the airport. In any case there are plenty of restaurants in the area and there are frequent trams from here to the city center (we got return tickets by tram from the hotel, which are included in the price of a superior room, just like the free use of the minibar).
The hotel is all modern inside, but located in a typical Bordeaux 18th century building. With the friendly staff at reception check-in is easy. Downstairs are also a dining hall, where breakfast gets served between 7-10.30am with a quite rich choice at the buffet, even with 'canelés de Bordeaux' as well as scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon.
The rooms, also the superior rooms, are really small, but we soon found out that everything is so cleverly arranged that we still managed to store all our belongings. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night, so we had a good sleep. All works well in the bathroom with toiletries by the French company Algotherm. There is also a narrow balcony with no seating. Bottled water was offered daily in the room, not just at the beginning as elsewhere.
It was all in all a pleasant stay here.

Hotel is convenient for the main station and we were travelling by train. Reception helpful. Room was tiny with very little space to move around. Very small toilet cubicle and the rest of the bathroom semi-open plan to the bedroom. Might be suitable for a business person staying alone but not for a couple.
Everything clean and comfy though.
Housekeeping totally remade the room the first night, the second night they made the bed but didn't even empty the bins.
Tiny 'mini bar' more of a mini cupboard as it didn't provide any cooling. But the free mineral water provided on two out of three nights was welcome.
Surprisingly good range of restaurants outside the station where we had breakfast some days.
10-15 minutes walk to St Michel square where there is a good choice of restaurants and bars. About 30 minutes into town. Although it would have been easy enough to take one of the many trams if we'd wanted to.

Madam, Sir, Thank you for sharing your experience, I am delighted that you have appreciated the excellent location of our hotel, ideal for the success of your trip to Bordeaux. Our staff love to discuss with our guests, offer advice on visits and itineraries or share anecdotes about our hotel. We are located in a former 18th century mansion and our rooms have been optimized to fit this historical building while offering you the necessary comfort. Regarding the bathroom, we have two types: those that are open to the room and others that are closed. Most of our guests appreciate this originality, but we are aware that preferences can vary considerably from one person to another. For your next stay, please let us know your wishes. We are always keen to offer you a room that is 100% in line with your expectations. Marjorie Delamare, Hotel Manager Best Western Plus Gare Saint Jean **** +33 (0)5.56.91.72.16

Friendly and helpful staff. There was a generous sized modern room with all conveniences. In the mornings, the breakfast was particularly well stocked and delicious. It is located close to the main railway station and the tram route into the main centre of Bordeaux.

I was quoted no more than €10 for a bottle of cava with room service breakfast. I was charged on checkout at €58. I have emails to prove this see below. The hotel refused to refund the difference and tried to say the emails were not correct there was three emails discussing the bottle!!
You cannot mistake what is written on an email even booking.com are shocked at the hotels denials and refusal of refund
Hi,
We have a room service breakfast, It will cost 12 euros per person.
For the bottle of cava, it is possible and it will cost less of 10 euros.
To go to the airport and return, there is a bus (bus 1), it will cost 1.70 euros per trip and you have also a direct bus, it will cost 16 euros for going and return.
Kind regards.

Dear Madam, We remember you well. I would like to point out that your request was perfectly understood before your arrival, but it was at the reception that the confusion occurred. We did mention champagne instead of cava, but we gave you this new information and you did not contradict us. It was at this point that there was a misunderstanding in the final choice of the bottle, and we apologize again. Furthermore, we are surprised that you gave us such a harsh and hurtful 1/10 when you had a great stay. You had enjoyed a breakfast in your room with VIP service: bottle, rose petals, balloons and a staff at your service even when you asked for assistance. At no time when you saw the bottle of champagne did you indicate that there was a mistake, so we thought that everything was perfect. When you left, we explained all this to you, everything seemed to be settled and understood. It was only afterwards that you complained to Booking.com, instead of talking to us. We regret that you have retained this single point, and we have indeed not proceeded with the refund since you have accepted and drunk the bottle. It is a pity to end this on this wrong note, when you had liked everything in the hotel. We would have liked so much to satisfy you and make this stay an unforgettable moment. My husband and I spent 3 nights here on our recent trip. We traveled by train and the hotel was very easy to find from Gare St. Jean. The room was small and the bathroom was strangely configured. The toilet was in its own room/ closet. The sink was in the middle and the shower was next to the sink. Thankfully the shower stall had a closing door that kept most of the water in. This was our third hotel in France and the first time we had a door on the shower!! We did not eat breakfast at the hotel because its not worth the extra money for it. We visited the Carrefour grocery store a couple of blocks over and got breakfast items to eat in our room. Bordeaux has a wonderful tram system and the hotel is between two stations for the C and D lines making it very easy to see the city. Some peop!e may be put off by the area this hotel is in such as being sketchy or dodgy but we did not feel unsafe. Also the air conditioning in our room worked very well as it was quite warm during our stay.

A few metres from Gare St Jean, this is an excellent hotel Staff very welcoming and helpful, all with excellent English ( a plus for us !). Room was nicely furnished and compact. Comfortable bed. Quiet a/c which was important as there is a fair amount of traffic noise that required closed windows.
Breakfast, included in our rate, was excellent. Food is available all day although we had only breakfast. Nearby restaurants exceeded expectations.
Would stay here again without question

We stayed here for one night to break our journey. It’s very close to the rail station (2 minutes’ walk) so would be excellent for rail travellers. If you’re driving, there’s a great secure garage, though you have to keep your eyes peeled for it as the signage isn’t great. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the staff were lovely and breakfast was excellent! Can really recommend this hotel for a short stopover.

Stayed here for 5 nights in July, Staff are lovely and looked after us well. you can buy tram tickets here and also light meals.
Breakfast had very good choice and gluten free breads for my daughter.
Rooms are very comfortable. They are compact and bathroom is part of bedroom, but perfect for a few nights stay as we only slept and showered in room.
We used the trains on a few trips and it was great to be so close. Also the airport shuttle has a good timetable to Gare saint Jean.
At night we always tried to be back close to 10pm, as the area around the train station was a bit rough with some very dodgy individuals. But hotel is safe and has 24 hour reception and hotel doors are locked in the evening.
Rooms cleaned daily, although some days it was hit and miss to standard.
I would definately stay again,

I stayed there last winter for a night because I took the latest train to Bordeaux. I booked the hotel with the name of Best Western Bordeaux Gare Saint-Jean, and when I got there, there's only one Best Western in walking range and it is called Best Western Royal Saint Jean. I walked in and asked them if I booked the right hotel and they say 'Yes'.
So, I think the answer to your question is 'Yes'.
But to be sure, you can check google map to see if there are other hotel with the almost same name.
Dear,
Yes we have an elevator in our hotel.
