Hotel staff are very friendly, helpful, polite and accommodating.
Hotel reception and bar area clean, bright and welcoming.
Approx. 15 min walk into the centre so not badly placed but there are other hotels which are more central, but the walk was not an issue for us.
Breakfast excellent choice and nicely presented.
However, the rooms are very small - we travelled as 2 friends and wanted a twin room which we didnt get. The room was very hot and the air con is not very effective but we did visit in July and had over 30 degree heat for the weekend - which was fabulous but made it difficult to sleep as no air.
Very few amenities in the bathroom - simply hand wash and shower get and we had travelled with hand luggage only so was a little disappointed as there is normally at least shampoo/conditioner and maybe a small body lotion
Safe free.
Only one bottle of water in the fridge the entire weekend and the paper cups for the tea/coffee not replaced after the first night. You can ask for water and cups at reception and also replenish your own tea/coffee at the breakfast buffett.
Overall not a bad stay and we spent very little time in the room but they are tight for space and missing some of the added benefits you would expect.
Best point very nice staff.

Staff very helpful and adhering to Covid-19 rules. Hotel was clean with all necessary means to keep Covid at bay! Meals, ie dinner/breakfast were taken in room. We had to collect dinner when telephoned by staff but breakfast was delivered to room at specified time. It was all very efficient and friendly. Would recommend hotel to friends for visit to Bordeaux as its very central for walking to City Centre and commerce. Obviously even more so in non-Covid times. Our second stay at hotel for visits to Prefecture which is 3 min. walk away.

We arrived very late, reception were very nice and friendly, the bar was unfortunately closed, so we went straight to our room and went to bed. In the morning we noticed that the room was very large, but sparsely furnished. Not a drawer to be found, or shelves, or a desk, oh and why when you book a room for two people is there only one chair? Also, the room was very dark and dingy, overlooking what was a concrete jungle. Breakfast was good, normal continental and cooked items.
On exploring, the hotel is not in a very salubrious location, there is a huge concrete shopping mall opposite, and mostly what looked like social housing, and generally quite run down, and certainly not in the Centre Ville. There was a tram close by, which went to the cathedral, the river, oh and the airport, for €1.80 per trip, that was a life saver for us as my husband is not able to walk very well. There’s no real restaurant, just an eating area by the bar. I certainly wouldn’t call it a 4 star hotel.
The staff at the hotel were nice and helpful.

Nothing good to say about this hotel. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel, but the images of the rooms don't portray how very basic, even an Ibis has a better spec & 1/2 the price.
I was absolutely gutted to have been given such a basic room for the money we paid. We spoke to the front desk to explain our disappointment & ask if there was a better room, but were bluntly told no as this was the room we booked and as we booked through Booking.com it couldn’t be changed.
The bed was incredibly hard, there is no tea and coffee making facilities, nor is there any toiletries or mini bar, all of which one would expect from a 4 * hotel. The mini bar is much needed when the hotel bar closes at 10pm or 11pm, regardless of being a resident or not. We returned to the hotel at 11.05pm, only to be told the bar was closed.

We arrived for breakfast at 9.40am, only to find a few scraps of scrambled egg, 1 sausage left and a few pieces of overcooked bacon, all were only just lukewarm. We were told on arrival that breakfast was about to finish, so to be quick. Breakfast was allegedly from 7am to 10am, but at 9.50am staff were clearing the food away, despite us & other clients still at the buffet counters plating our food. I’ve never ever experienced this rudeness in a hotel before. One couple turned up for breakfast just before 10am & were told it was too late.
To say I regret booking this very basic hotel is an understatement, particularly when could have saved a lot of money by booking an Ibis

Parking in the local Meriadeck centre car park meant a mazy walk to the
hotel which was not easy with luggage and we didn't find the lifts on
arrival so lots of narrow stairs, so suggest you drop off your bags at the
hotel before parking.

Admittedly, we should have done more research as Centre Ville in the hotel
name is very misleading as was certainly not in the heart of the town as was
located in a commercial area near a shopping centre so disappointing for us.

We had requested rooms next to each other and received a message to say this
would be arranged, but on arrival we were on totally different floors - we
were offered a change of room the next morning, but not really worth it for
one night - you would think bookings made together with the same name would
be assigned rooms together/nearby or at least on the same floor?

Worse showers I have ever had in a hotel stay - we had over the bath showers
in both our rooms with very low water pressure so not a good shower
experience and certainly not what I would expect for a 4* rated hotel.

Little things matter so stained chairs in reception do not give a good
impression and could be easily rectified with a little care.

We turned to the hotel on Saturday night and although people were at the
bar, when we asked at Reception if it was open were told very bluntly that
the bar was closed with no apology which is not what we have encountered in
other hotels.

Overall, think this hotel's 4* rating is questionable (maybe based more on the conference facilities they offer?) as we have stayed in many Mercure hotels previously but this one did not live up to its name for us so would look at other options should we return to Bordeaux.

As a footnote and certainly, not something the hotel can be responsible for, but it is not a pleasant experience having to dodge human excrement on the path from some unfortunate folk taking shelter around the shopping centre, so we obviously found an alternative route.

Thank you for this very complete and detailed feedback. We are sincerely sorry that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations. Our hotel is located in the Mériadeck business district, 5 minutes walk from Place Gambetta and 10 minutes walk from the city hall which is in the heart of Bordeaux. A tram stop is also located 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The public parking you mention does not belong to our hotel but we regret that you encountered difficulties reaching our establishment. We have added signage to best guide our customers and we plan to send an email before their stay to provide precise information on this subject. For the rest of your experience, please accept our apologies. The department heads concerned have been informed of your remarks and will take the necessary measures. We hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust and serve you better during your next stay in Bordeaux. Best regards,

We stayed 3 nights in Bordeaux as part of 12 weeks in Europe. We were upgraded to a larger room with a view over other buildings but at least it was a view. Our room was ok with a fridge that only kept things cool and tea bags that no one has ever heard of before, please Hotels some people have more than one coffee per day so leave a little more with some milk. Location was great with parking next door and staff were very helpful with a supermarket around one corner and a Laundromat around another corner, all in all a very good Hotel

We really appreciated the welcome in this hotel: around a table with a drink! It changes from a welcome to an impersonal counter…..
Valuable recommendations were also given to us with a plan (restaurants, visits, etc.)
The hotel is very well placed for exploring the city center on foot.
The room was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent
The car park is right next to the hotel and can be accessed from inside the hotel (without going out) with a fair price
We enjoyed our stay (4 nights)
In short, a hotel to recommend which changes from the standardized standards of Mercure

This hotel is not my usual choice for Bordeaux, but was a last minute booking. As I expected, it was very much a bland chain more frequented by business people - but you get what you pay for, which was a clean, spacious and well appointed room. A little restaurant which served a reasonable if limited choice dinner, drinks and smacks. Despite being close to the centre, it was just not close enough and walking to and from dinner in the centre at night it was too quiet for me, being in a commercial setting, and as an older single woman I did not feel that safe. Luckily I had a companion on this trip but I would not book again, preferring to choose accommodation in a busier area.

Stayed for one night and chose this location as it was handy for tram A, which we needed to go to a concert venue.
Very easy walking distance to Place Gambetta and many bars and restaurants.
Room was excellent and bed very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The immediate surrounding area may look a bit off putting, but it’s a very short walk to the prettier part of Bordeaux.
We booked Sunday brunch in the Sans Pression restaurant. Huge selection of freshly made, local produce and a very wide choice of food. Excellent.
The only improvement I would suggest is soft-close room doors, as there was a lot of door banging early in the morning.
Overall, a very positive experience and would definitely stay here again.
