This hostel has great facilities, it is modern and clean and the bar area is really nice, at arrival there was a dj playing and great atmosphere. Well located, it is easy to get there by bus from the airport and to get tram to city centre.
Our big no here is customer care. Unfortunately we had an unpleasant situation in our room (3 girls travelling together and we booked beds in a 6 female bedroom) with an unknown guest that was acting weirdly, occupying all of the lockers, had loads of personal stuff spread across the bedroom and was wrongly occupying one of the beds booked for us. We have reported the situation as we were not feeling safe and our stuff were in risk as well, as no lockers were free. Staff got one of us a private bedroom for no extra as they couldn't change de bedding and clean in the evening but the other 2 had to stay in the bedroom in this situation, all that was done was emptying our lockers for us to be able to use, but no cleaning. They said that as it was weekend couldn't do anything else... I mean, it is a hostel, it's expected to have full services available to find solutions for problems the may arise on a weekend right? Initially they didn't even know who this person was! We could not buy breakfast one of the days in the morning as this area was being privately used. No warning was provided on this beforehand.
Conclusion: Great facilities, bad customer service. Only recommend staying here if in private room, other than that, there looking elsewhere as if any issue occurs you will not have a solution.

Room cleaned just once for all your stay.
The reception/lobby is great. Nice energy and friendly staff! Nice food and drinks.
We didn't have breakfast there (spite having a very good presentation) 'couse is greater to have it in the city. :)
Bus and a 10/10min train stop nearby (100mt) (buy a 7-day card at the airport.. you'll need it)
Perfect just to sleep & go :)
There is a construction site nearby (Fev 2020). They start making noise at 7.30am. It's better if you can stay for the weekend, or you can (like us), open your eyes and go out to have breakfast at 8:30am in the city :)

First of all, if you can, try and choose a room farther away from the reception. We stayed at the 131st and we had a bit of trouble sleeping in the first night (February 13th). There was a pre-valentines' day party.. and we were terribly tired from a >24h traveling and walking day.. Went to bed at 23h and the music was still on-fire! :D At 2am, one of the guys from the staff was making noise recycling bottles. Not cool..
Because it was a weekday, in the next day, at 7:30am we started to ear noise from a construction site next to the hotel. Didn't sleep so well in the 1st night.. but then it was ok during weekend :).
But overall, it is a very nice place to stay. Totally worth it. :)

Hello Guilherme, Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion following your stay at Eklo, it will be very useful for future travelers. The hotel is located in the eco-district Bastide Niel in Bordeaux which is still under construction but unfortunately it is not within our jurisdiction... We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our establishment. We look forward to seeing you again in one of our hotels: in Bordeaux, Lille or Clermont-Ferrand. Have a nice day, The Eklo Team

This place achieves what it sets out to do on the tin: it is a cross between a hostel and a hotel. It is very cheap and basic. The beds are smaller than a standard single but they are surprisingly comfortable. The towel and bed linen were good quality. The room and en-suite were spotlessly clean. The lobby is bright and airy and the food we sampled (beef carpaccio with chips) was delicious and reasonably priced at 12 euro. The hotel is located in the quieter area of Bastide which is a pleasant 15 minute walk away from Saint Pierre, on the other side of the river across the stone bridge.
My only criticism is that the room is perhaps too small for a twin. (The bathroom door opens into the head of one of the beds .) And as the walls were painted a dark blue/grey it conjured up the image of a prison cell. But I would stay here again if I was looking for a budget break.

There were no luggage room at this place. They recommended us go to the train station at the other side of time but we figured out that the hotel at the other side of the street had this service for a fee. Badly informed staff.

The room was practically a small sauna. No fan, no AC, room on first floor with window and door opening strait toward the street. Didn’t feel good to go to sleep with open windows towards the street. Couldn’t sleep very much. The room was clean and the bar okay. Wouldn’t recommend this place, even if it was very cheap.

Me, my husband and our two children stayed at Elko Bordeaux on May 31st. We were meant to stay for another night but had to check out in the morning as there was a construction site on the hotel grounds/next to the hotel and the work started at 6am!!! We then had to find somewhere else to stay last minute and pay a lot more. It was never communicated to us on booking.com before booking that the hotel was next to a construction site. When we informed the hotel reception that we were checking out because of the noise they agreed to issue a refund for both nights which said would take up to 3 days to be processed through booking.com. They also apologise that higher management didn't communicate this on their website and on booking sites. There were many unhappy clients there also checking out. They never issued a refund, I emailed them and also called booking.com 3 times and booking.com said the hotel needed to refund booking.com in order for booking.com to refund us. Nearly a year on and we never received our money back.

I've traveled in more than 40 countries and this stay is the 3rd place in the worth hotel I've ever stay.
Friday at 6 am, some delivery was so noisy that wake me up, but the manager offered me an expresso and told me that they know!!
The biggest noisy thing is the doors (rooms & floor level) and they are really very noisy when shut down even if you try to make it softly!
Not enough staff and have poor training, I had to help the poor guy to set up the breakfast buffet 2 times (Saturday & Sunday am) as it was missing a lot of items (knife, forks, spoon, butter, glasses for the juice, eggs keepers......
Hot water & tea had coffee smell as they mix pots. I had to wait 30 min to get croissants & "pain au chocolat"
On Saturday night, bar was close at 10.40 pm, instead of 11pm as written on the wall, the bartender was not friendly at all, he said to me that "I can close when I want" but he was friendly on Thursday night when I had diner and told us to give him good comments, but I won't as you can read!!!
On Sunday am no hot water for the shower.
I dont know that comments will be publish on your guest review but you need to take some action, I want to inform you that I will publish on trip advisor.
I hope that will change in the futur for your next guest.
Best regards.

The concept is nice and but a lake of staff & poor training make this hotel

Great room, very relaxing and very dark, great comfy bed and shower, near to supermarket, trams and buses stop outside the location. Really nice and welcoming staff. It is very pretty in the night when all the lights are on in the pub area, very cool.

Catastrophic. I'm really not a fan of writing reviews, especially negative ones, but I'll have to force myself. Above all, for the positive points, the hotel is quite pretty, trendy, with a very young and smiling team, in line with the other Eklo. Unfortunately, being young is not enough in the hotel industry for a quality or simply satisfactory service. As soon as we arrived, there was confusion surrounding our reservation, it was nowhere to be found despite my reservation voucher. The team leader intervened, told us that the staff would manage and that we simply had to pay the tourist tax. Cool, we take the opportunity to take the late check out option (€8) to sleep well. A few minutes later, we were told that our ad had finally been cancelled, by a site other than that of our reservation. Strange, no email or refund notified. Then it gets worse at night. The room building faces the alley, but is accessible for anyone who simply wants to climb over a small hedge. Not very secure... The rooms are not insulated, you can hear every door slam in the building. A possibly tipsy guest tries to enter our room for several minutes. A little scared at the time, because it could very well have been someone from outside the hotel. A commotion ensues for a long hour. Barely managed to fall asleep again, when the cleaning staff then came knocking on our door three times, then the hotel staff between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to check that we had left (despite our paid option which allowed us to stay until 1 p.m.). I also received three calls with messages in the morning from the hotel. I don't know if they ever check their room software, or simply communicate within the team, but this is the first time I've seen such blunders within a hotel team. Anyway, we left with big dark circles and 100€ less. The staff, apart from offering us a small coffee for the road, did not even offer reimbursement for this late check out option. I nevertheless perhaps recommend this hotel for backpackers who don't care much about resting, but for all others who just want to rest normally, it is probably better to go to the hotels opposite, where security/calm/professionalism prevail (I imagine, it couldn't be worse) over a young and smiling team.

we arrived late by car ( 100 metres away was closest parking, a bit dodgy looking but fine in morning ) the hotel is surrounded by graffiti endorsed building site hoardings on 3 sides , not very welcoming but should be done by 2023

You check in at a bar , with civilised young student drinkers , was annoyed that had to pay a city tax of 1.80 , no issue to pay, had cash , but they insisted on card.. I explained that my foreign- registered card would be hit by a minimum fee so can they take cash .. but No, the guy insisted , so they win, and you are angry

the room ( # 150 ) was not great, we were 4 and had to use the sofa bed , which was unmade , no sheets , and a faeces mark on the mattress... great , then the shower was useless , the glass door - so clear an adult banged their head on it - would not shut fully and water seeped out , and into the bedroom, damaging a suitcase, the room being so small we could not see the water escaping into the bedroom, under the shower room door. the toilet fan was dust encrusted , not been cleaned

the only positive was breakfast , kids loved it, fresh, good , reasonable

could do better

I've never had such a poor stay in a hostel. When I came, the receptionist gave me a bed that was already occupied, so I went back there and she gave me another one, but to the person behind me she gave the exact same bed. So when we discovered this in the room, we had to go back to the reception and the receptionist told us she didn't know what to do, that she can't do anything now (without saying sorry for the incovenience).
The room was dirty and a bottle of alcohol was standing in the middle of it. One of the toilets in our room was full of poo and paper, and when I tried to flush it it didn't work, so I went again to the reception and again she told me, she can't do anything about it now. She really didn't seem to care and was rather annoyed. The next day the toilet was still not fixed, so I returned to ask again, because the whole room stank because of it. They told me that they would fix it soon, but when I checked out the other day it still wasn't fixed. I was not taken seriously. Under my bed was an empty pill packaging. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, I really had an unpleasant stay. At least I was offered a glass of orange juice when I complained (for about the 5th time) at the reception, when there was someone else there for the first time.
