Detailed Reviews
Chose this hotel for its proximity to the railway station, and glad we did. It’s convenient to everything if you’re happy to walk a little. The room was small but spotless, the breakfasts and pizzas were great and the staff were always smiling and helpful. Loved the outside deck!

This hotel is very near the train station for exploring the Bordeaux area by train and it is a short tram ride into town.We had a twin room at the rear that was clean, comfortable and very quiet. We did not have the breakfast at 11 Euro each.We found this hotel ideal for our three night stay and good value for money.

Near the Central Station (Gare St. Jean - 5 min walk) and near the city center (5 min by tram or 10-15 min walking). It's quiet, the rooms are clean and big, and the staff very helpful. 24 hour reception, but you have to ring the bell to open the door. 24 hour bar.

We had a great stay. The staff are so friendly and helpful, we wish we could have stayed longer. Breakfast was excellent, huge choice and lots of it. Room was very nice and quiet and it was cleaned everyday! Will definitely go back and thoroughly recommend.

Although this hotel is not exactly in 'Bordeaux Centre' as its name suggests, it is close to the main Gare St Jean - down a calm street three mins walk away - and within very easy striking distance of the wonderful new public transport system with trams every six minutes. These whisk you downtown within 5 or 10 mins along the picturesque newly-renovated banks of the River Garonne. Hotel is modern, stylish, very clean, comfortable for the price - nicely-tiled and spacious-enough en suite with large decent shower, plenty of nice towels, comfortable beds, built-in desk and good lighting, attractive sleek grey with bright-green accents decor. Free internet access; just pick up the code from a pile at the front desk. Breakfasts a little pricey at 9 Euro for a reasonable buffet, although the mini croissants were spoiled by a sweet, sticky topping (for our money, coffee and a more-traditional croissant amid the faded grandeur of the Terminus opposite the Gare St Jean or a breakfast special from Paul on the outside of the Gare were better value). Front-desk staff are pleasant and helpful, and speak excellent English, should your French be fragile. The reception/bar/breakfast area is not huge, but is very stylish, almost hip, with a cool outside patio area at the back of the hotel where you can eat breakfast or have a drink. There is a secure underground carpark (9 Euro a night?), which is worth the price as parking in the neighbourhood is paying anyway and, although it seemed perfectly safe to us four girls (and we walked all over, even late at night), the area of the station is perhaps a little dodgy around the edges in the wee hours of the morning. We wouldn't necessarily recommend the restaurants opposite the station: although they are decent enough - with inexpensive prix-fixe menus - there are so many more better restaurants to try within a short, fun tramride away (for a treat, don't miss La Tupina - you could even walk there from the hotel, or take the tram). There is also a large Carrefour supermarket right behind the hotel - down a little side street - that turns out a surprisingly decent roast chicken should you just fancy a quiet night in. And don't forget to pick up a bottle of the excellent local Bordeaux while you're about it.

Just a few minutes walk from Bordeaux railway station, and amongst several other large chain hotels, the Campanile is a three star hotel with very modern rooms.
We were impressed by the friendly greetings, the strict security stopping strangers from getting in, and in our case the absolute quietness in our room overlooking the car park even with the window open.
We love the walk-in shower, the large built-in desk and storage areas, with jug and tea/coffee, and strong wifi (albeit annoying with its re-signing every 6 hours).
We are here over a weekend, so the place is almost deserted unlike weekdays when we couldn't get a room as it is full of business people.
For this very reason I figured they switched off the aircon mid Friday afternoon, but the weather at present is perfect for leaving the window open anyway.
We are here three nights, and really enjoy having several wonderful brasseries to eat and drink just up the road, as is the tram stop, airport bus or a pleasant 30 minute stroll following the tram tracks into town for the more energetic.
We have stayed previously in the very centre of town but this is a better choice.

This hotel is very close to Bordeaux train station which was one of my main reasons for choosing it, however I was pleasantly surprised.
In France usually the area near the station can be quite dodgy but it was fine. Only 2 minutes walk from the station, the tram stop and a tourist information office.
It was very modern, clean and tidy and was perfect for the one night I stayed there. Staff were extremely helpful, although English wasn't a strong point. When I arrived before my room was ready, I was offered coffee and a seat in the bar area.
The room was clean, with tea and coffee and air conditioning. The bed was comfortable with lovely fresh linen.
The breakfast (9 euros extra) was a buffet style but was extensive. Plenty of choice - cereals, breads, croissants, fruit, cheese, yogurt etc, and the chance to eat outside on the lovely little terrace at the back.
It's only been given a 2 star rating by the local tourist council but it was definitely better than some of the supposed 4 star B&Bs I've stayed in in the UK!

We have just returned from a brief visit to Bordeaux, a beautiful city. The architecture is stunning and there is much to see. The city has excellent public transport which is also cheap, though rather crowded at times. It was very easy to take a bus from the airport to the railway station for 1.70 euros from where it was only a short walk to our Campanile hotel
The staff at the hotel were very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel itself is quite basic but very clean and excellent value for money. The breakfast in the morning was ideal for setting one up for a day's sightseeing. By combining walking with using public transport, it was very easy to get around the city. The hotel was an ideal base to see Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a bustling and busy city. The only slight problem we had, which did not detract from our short holiday, was that there were quite a number of vociferous people in the road outside in the early hours of the morning. This may well have been as a consequence of being there on Friday and Saturday nights.
No meals, other than breakfast, were taken in the hotel. However, there are many restaurants, catering for all cuisines available close by, which added to the enjoyment of the stay
