Detailed Reviews
This is the best apartment we have stayed in for all our travel adventures. The building stands out for the smartness of the exterior and the cleanliness which belies the heritage: this is what it would have looked like when it was built.
The owners have taken great care with their tasteful but visionary renovation, remaining faithful to the era but with every mod-con included.
We stayed in Leopard d'Or on the first floor, and the theme of the golden leopard is maintained throughout: furnishings, lighting, drapes, prints.
The separate bedroom has a really comfy queen sized bed with good pillows, two bedside lights each, and it's own TV.
An en suite bathroom with large shower, dual heads, basin and vanity also has an adjustable heated towel rail. The towels were large but light and fluffy.
There is a separate toilet near the kitchen and lounge which also contains a modern washer/dryer.
The galley kitchen has a full compliment of crockery, cutlery and cookware, with a 4 burner cooktop and oven, AEG dishwasher and under-counter fridge. The fridge is stocked with some free soft drinks and basic jam and butter for breaky.
The Netspresso machine comes with a supply of capsules. There is also a wine fridge with a selection of labels at a modest cost.
The piece de resistance is the sitting and dining room which overlooks Place du Parlement through 2 Windows. Each has a pair of windows, so absolutely no noise penetrates the peace of this wonderful space. But open the windows, and you immediately become part of the life of Bordeaux.
The apartment is air conditioned, and is serviced every day. With only 3 apartments in the block, and the owner available by email and phone, her consierge service is excellent.
The only brickbat is a lack of a lift, but the quality and ambience of this heritage building means that is a very minor matter. A price well worth paying.
We loved it, and will come back just so we can stay in Leopard d'Or again.

Four of us stayed here for three nights over New Year and very much enjoyed the space, and the comfortable beds and rooms. It was all well presented and with modern amenities. It was a good place to explore Bordeaux from and we were glad to stay there.
We were on the top floor. It was quite a walk up carrying luggage or shopping. However, the email had let us know there was no lift, so that is fine. There would be some however who would find those stairs difficult when carrying luggage.
We also had a few glitches. Neither the safe nor internet worked when we arrived but the lady who was cleaning rang the owner for directions and fixed them in half an hour or so. More of a concern was the electronic locks on the door which would not open when we arrived (after leaving our bags earlier) from shopping with groceries. Fortunately that same lady was there then, told us that that was unusual, and spent about 20 minutes trying to manipulate the door before getting it open.
It was fortunate that the lady was there when we arrived although we did have a number to call (and she then gave us her personal number in case it happened again.) So it didn't upset our stay, and we still would recommend the very comfortable apartment if you are fine with stairs, but it may be even better if there was a better lock system. Anyway, what a good location to be in.

+1
As previous reviewers have said, these are exquisite apartments. Just three, we stayed in the Ile aux Oiseaux apartment on the second level. Decor style is gorgeous and of the highest quality. The outlook is over the lovely Place du Parlement, with a location that couldn’t be more central and with the double glazing you can’t hear a sound. We arrived by train into the main station, jumped on the tram, got off at the Bourse and voila the apartment was just a couple of minutes away. Everything you need is provided - albeit in a space efficient way (the positioning of the washing machine is quite something). The tiny kitchen has all the most modern conveniences - fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso, but I didn’t feel like messing it up by actually cooking. When we ate in, we made use of the many takeaway options available at very close range, eg pizza and Guy & Son hamburgers which were delicious. It’s the perfect mix of apartment and hotel with a daily maid service to freshen the apartment up while you’re out. Finally our host Alice was lovely - she even helped us carry our bags up the stairs which given her tiny stature was quite something. If she wasn’t on site, she was just a phone call away and helped us with our taxi to the station when we thought the trams may not have been running. I would return to Villa Réale in Bordeaux in a heartbeat but suspect once word gets around it will be very difficult to get a booking. It made our stay in Bordeaux really special.

This is a superb accommodation in the very center of Bordeaux. We had a 2 BR and a 1 BR unit. Although they can accommodate 6 and 4 people respectively (ie w use of the sofa bed), they are more ideally suited for 4 and 3 people. The location is as good as it gets and
Completely obviates the need for a car. The apartments are luxuriously appointed with excellent toiletries, Nespresso, high end refrigerator etc and the owner/manager Alice is absolutely wonderful. When there was a reception problem with one of the TVs during the World Cup, She personally cycled from her place 20 min away to the apartment and helped fix the issue. And all with a super Nice and helpful disposition. So, in summary, even if you are a regular 5 Star hotel client, I strongly recommend that you try to book early and stay at the Villa Reale. One word of caution: there are no elevators so the top floor is not ideal for those with a problem going up
The stairs or carrying suitcases. Otherwise A+ all around.
