Getting to the hotel from the Airport is super easy as the bus drops you right next to the hotel, which was welcoming given it was 39c when we arrived!!
Also next to the hotel is a shopping mall with a large supermarket, so easy to stock up on breakfast essentials for a 4 night stay, as well as a nice bottle of wine (or two)
The apartment was specious and clean but the decor is dire!! Its so bland and soulless, however the bed was comfy and the shower was decent. The AC was just about ok on the lowest setting at full blast during the heatwave, but I would have liked it a little colder.
Front desk staff were friendly and nice to deal with.
The hotel was easy to access from the airport – take the A Tram right outside the airport and get off at the Gambetta Tram stop. The hotel is just on the other side of the shopping complex, less than a five minute walk away.
Arriving at 9am, we were told that our room would not be ready until 3pm. Staff at reception were helpful but their English limited, depending on who was on duty. We are bilingual so this did not affect us but other guests struggled to be understood. After storing our bags, we headed out to explore.
Once we checked in, we were informed that we were ungraded to a larger room. Our room was well appointed and functional, although I found it odd that the toilet was located outside the bathroom, on the other side of the room, without any hand washing area.
The kitchen area was well equipped, but we only prepared our breakfasts and snacks. My husband did partake in the in house breakfast buffet which he found under whelming, the food was cold, selection limited and an altogether poor value for 14E.
The area is surrounded by numerous restaurants of all different price points and there is a large supermarket in the mall right down the street.
The bed was comfortable as was our sleep. Our room faced a small square. There is a screen that separates the sleeping area from the living/kitchen area should your partner wish to stay up.
Our bathroom had a shower that was separate from the tub. My major complaint that only one towel was provided per person and you had to pay extra to have them changed or your room cleaned.
Most days we just explored Bordeaux on foot which was easy to do. The hotel is very well located. The trams were affordable and easily accessed. We also went to St. Emilion one day to explore and visit a few wineries. As an aside, entrance to museums is free on the first Sunday of each month, but generally. Most stores were closed on Sundays, or operated under reduced hours.
Laundry facilities were available on the first floor, but during our entire visit, the dryer did not work - tokens can be purchased at the front desk. One elevator was also out of order during our stay and the TV only has one English BBC news station.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and recommend this hotel.
The location was great, I can go to all the sights on foot and there are supermarket and a lot of restaurants around the corner.
There’s no noise from outside when the windows are closed even we are facing the road and plaza.
Will go back again, we enjoyed the stay a lot.
I contacted Aparthotel Adagio Bordeaux Center Gambetta right away on October 19 at 20:38 and asked to not charge us for the first two nights. The property responded that «Unfortunately, we are unable to refund your booking ». And all my subsequent requests for a refund were denied.
"Good location but beware of hidden charges! Rates initially seem good value initially but worked out more expensive than comparable hotels."Read full review
