Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Situated in the heart of the city, the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel is lauded for its prime location and tranquil ambiance despite its central setting. While guests appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and clean rooms, some find the accommodations outdated and cramped, with heating problems and a lack of power outlets.
The amenities receive mixed reviews; visitors commend the attentive staff but are often frustrated by the unreliable Wi-Fi. Service quality seems to fluctuate, and many guests feel the hotel falls short of providing good value for the cost.

Detailed Reviews
Convenient central location. Parking is £20 a day on top of the hotel booking, I researched and booked my parking through a 3rd party app which cost me £14.90 per day and it turns out to be in the hotel car park anyway. Surely customer s should be given the cheaper option? This was a negative.
Reception, checked in at 11.30 great really liked this early check in and late check out option. There was an issue with my room where I was apparently sharing with a complete stranger, however this was sorted quickly. As I am a member of this hotel chain I also got some complimentary drinks plus points! The staff member did not explain where breakfast was etc, however luckily I had all the details emailed to me.
Room city view 22th floor, just what we needed, ironing board, hairdryer, towels, shampoo, tea and coffee making facilities also air con. Not the best decorated but I kinda like vintage.
Bed was super comfortable, pillows and duvet clean and fluffy. Great night sleep, no noise from the trams etc below. Great view of the city and the fountains.
Bar area, friendly we had two beers however didn't stay for more as it was quite metallic in taste. However prices where reasonable for city area.
Breakfast buffet style, crystal, cooked, continental, juices, hot drink, pastries, porridge and yogurt fresh fruit available. They offered a bloody Mary stand and a freshly made smoothie. We wasn't told where to sit so we unknowingly sat at table that had not been set up for breakfast so was confused when we couldn't find cutlery, rude member of staff when we requested cutlery. Coffee cups were dirty, smoothie was warm and tasted off, hot breakfast bacon and sausages not great, sausages still pink, hash browns not crispy and soaker in foal tasting oil. Porridge was nice with multiple toppings on offer. So a bit of a mixed bag, was expecting more due to the large selection on offer but was disappointed. This could be improved with just a few tweaks.
Overall a good stay, I would stay again.

We arrived saturday afternoon and was greated by a lovely man on the door who give us directed us to the reception. Check in was pleasant and very informative. We booked hotel with myhotel.com so we got breakfast and a bottle off wine in the deal and for £79 for night for didnt think was bad compared to the hotel prices. We was on floor 9 room 921 which had the views. The room wasnt that big but had everything u need, hairdryer iron ironing board, shampoo 1 bar of small soap and shower gel. Room was clean, tv didnt work but we didnt watch it so wasnt bothered. Think they need tuning in. Wifi worked in room. Windows need updating as was full of black mould behind the screen. Didnt expect to beable to here music from outside on the 9th floor but u can. Air conditiong/heating worked well. We had the breakfast on the sunday and couldnt fault 1 thing about that it was lovely and plenty to choose from. Only thing I'd say is update yr coffee machines. Folk these days drink lattes espressos cappuccino not just black coffee but everything else was good. Cleaning ladies were pleasant enough and young lad on door on way out was very polite and wished us a nice day. We didnt use the carpark as it would of worked out at £20 and we actually found 1 across the road not 5 mins walk away for £3.60 for 24hrs. Think you should sort them prices out really but we will definitely return and thanks for a pleasant stay.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Stayed at this hotel for a conference, the location is dodgy and not great to go out walking at night with lots of drunks and homeless hanging around the front door. The rooms are dated and basic, the air con is old and windows don't open.
The conference room was in a similar condition with peeling paper on the walls and damaged tables. Our conference was supposed to include mid morning and afternoon refreshments with a buffet lunch. The lunch was just two options and not ready on time and the afternoon refreshments were missed all together.
The positive is that it is close to the main train stations and shopping centre and there are lots of restaurants and bars close by if you dare step out at night.

Hubby and I are Accor members and always choose to stay at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel when visiting Manchester.
As we had already checked in online check in was quick and easy and the receptionist very helpful and friendly. We were going to see a band at a venue we had never been too before. The receptionist when asked very kindly found out the quickest route to get to the venue from the hotel giving us transport means and times. Our room wallet with cards and free welcome drinks vouchers (as Gold Status Accor members) was already for collection.
Our room which was on the 5th floor was very spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The bed was of a good size with lovely bouncy pillows and a good night's sleep was had on it. It was a pleasure to find that our amenity gift had been remembered and placed in the room and was thoroughly enjoyed. The bathroom was of a good size, ample lighting, clean and modern. The shower was powerful and with plenty of hot water. The towels were clean, pleased that they were of a good size and the usual Mercure toiletries provided.
A meal was had in the restaurant / bar area which has lovely views of Piccadilly Gardens below. Our meals had were delicious, served I am pleased to say on warm plates, good sized portions and nicely presented. All drinks are reasonably priced for a central to the city hotel. A good selection of wine can be had and nice to get a bottle of wine served in an ice bucket and not a cooler sleeve. All the bar staff and our waitress were friendly, helpful, smartly dressed and courteous all of the time. Our few hours spent here before heading out for our gig was thoroughly enjoyable, the whole bar area also had a lovely atmosphere.
After a good night's sleep we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. A great selection of fruit, yoghurts, pastries, meats, cheeses and of course a Full English can be had. Our table was cleared by a very chatty and helpful young man who approached us many times to make sure everything was ok.
Check out was quick and easy and done by a friendly, polite and smartly dressed receptionist called Nathan. Our Invoice was emailed to us and we were wished a safe journey home.
A big shout out to all the staff and team who we encountered during our stay these being Jake, Sam, Abbie, Alex H, Lydia and Nathan. You all helped to make our stay the pleasant one that it was!
The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel is a 10 minute walk away from the train station with nearby tram stops. The restaurant has great views of Piccadilly Gardens and is nearby to many bars, restaurants and other venues such as The Arena and The Printworks. We can highly recommend staying here or even just popping in for a drink or a bite to eat and we are looking forward to our stay here on the 12th of March and our stays booked for later in the year.

This hotel needs a total refurb. We originally booked a double room but when we went to the room the bath was scratched and dirty so we were upgraded to an executive room which although more spacious it did not appease our bath concerns. The executive room had not been cleaned with crisps left on the bed, the cups and spoons had crusty residue left on them and the miniatures provided were half used. During the night there was a fire alarm in which we had to evacuate and we could find no information in the room as to where the emergency meeting point was and there was no staff to direct you as to where it is. Eventually we were gathered in the right location and after an hour out in the freezing cold we were allowed back in to climb back up to the 10th floor via the stairs where our key card no longer worked so we had to repeat the journey back to the reception and back to our room again. In the morning we had no hot water and so we were upgraded to a suite which having stayed in suites at other hotel brands this was of poor quality. Again it was more spacious but all very tired with hardly any plugs requiring me to unplug the TV to have a socket to use to charge my phone. As well as constant issues with our key card and lock on the door making access difficult. Although the staff did their best to ease our stay by upgrading us and providing us with 1 complimentary drink this hotel can not justify charging what it does for what it is providing.

Arrived on Saturday afternoon prior to watching The Script at the MEN Arena later that evening. We were given room 930 on the 9th floor and after a straightforward checkin hopped into the lift up to our room. The first thing I noticed was the door to the room had so much play in it that it could easily have been forced, as once opened it was apparent that the door casing and lock keep were both loose. The next thing I noticed was it was bitterly cold in there and the third thing that I noticed was the bits of paper and sweet wrappers on the floor. A good start, having still been at the room door. Pillows on the bed were rock hard, the secondary double glazing was full of condensation, draughty and dirty and on the whole the room was exceedingly tired and somewhat dated. Bathroom toiletries consisted of a couple of glasses, and a small bar of of soap. No shampoo, no shower gel etc. There were cracks in tiles , holes where fixtures had once been, and grotty floor and bath surfaces. Tea and Coffee tray was below the safe by the front door, however there was no power point there and the kettle had to be carried over to the tv sideboard. Once we had unpacked we headed off down to the Level 3 bar for a drink. I ordered a Gordons Pink Gin from the drinks menu and a Stella . Suprised to hear they had "ran out" of Gordons Gin, and instead had to settle for another brand. This was served in a straight tumbler, and when asked if they had a Gin glass I was told that they hadnt got any of them in either! Over charged for drinks and had to ask for the overcharge to be corrected too.
On the plus side, breakfast the next day was very enjoyable, and food was fresh, piping hot and with a large selection of cereal, continental, fresh fruit and traditional English breakfast on offer it didn't disappoint. To sum up without being too harsh, the hotel clearly has the potential to receive better reviews, but dated rooms with little evidence of proper maintenance in them, means a four star rating is an insult to those genuine four star establishments that demonstrate pride in their rooms, maintain them regardless of cost, and put the guest rather than the profit first.

We just had 1 night in this hotel. Sam from reception was very kind to give us a room before check-in time for no extra charge. Was a really nice gesture.
Other than that, the hotel is very well located, right in the centre of Manchester, with good access to public transportation, pubs, restaurants, etc. Also train station to London is just 10 minutes walk.
However bear in mind to leave the room at least 15 minutes before check out time, as the hotel might block your key card with all your stuff inside. It happened to us.
Room cleaning can be better, especially in the bathroom but anyway the price, the view from the room and location definitely will compensate.

The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.
What can we say?! Beautiful Hotel, lovely staff, a blessed relief after the English version of the Bermuda Triangle that is the Manchester one-way system.
Greated by the effervescent Sam on the front desk. Such a Gent! He advised us on booking online to save us money, upgraded us to a better deal and even gifted us a free drink each as way of a Welcome.
We were then gently guided to the bar and left in the capable hands of Stephen, our chatty host who supplied us with comfy seats for our weary bones and cool beer to sate our thirst. A lovely man who made us feel immediately at home. Room was clean and comfortable with huge bed, the only construcrive critisms we could honestly make is that thw heating made some strange banging, bath slightly rusty in some areas and could do with a way of washing down the bath between uses specially with two sharing, but that's minor, lots of complimentaries such as tea, coffee and many soaps and even a tooth brush but please don't both forget your brush you might have to share as there is only one, with all these minor things We could still get used to this!

Was taken here for a birthday treat by a friend , tempted by the bottomless bubbles and afternoon tea!
We were not disappointed, All the staff we came across, concierge, waitresses and bar staff were extremely welcoming and smiley throughout. It was a shame there wasn't more people in the restaurant to give it more atmosphere, however it was 3pm on a Thursday afternoon.
The sandwiches were crust less and fresh, good selection, including a coronation chicken wrap which a nice touch. Lovely homemade scones with clotted cream and strawberry, certainly didnt skimp on the portions. Then a mixtures of different bite size pastries. The most important bit was the prosecco, the staff ensured we were topped up , when prompted - they did say they were short staffed that day, in the end they brought us a bottle over and said, help our selves.
Beautiful view over Piccadilly Gardens
Would we revisit? yes we would, have already recommended it to friends.
Thank you to Stephen and Abbie for their table service

Lovely homemade scones with clotted cream and strawberry, certainly didnt skimp on the portions. Then a mixtures of different bite size pastries. The most important bit was the prosecco, the staff ensured we were topped up , when prompted - they did say they were short staffed that day, in the end they brought us a bottle over and said, help our selves.
Beautiful view over Piccadilly Gardens
Would we revisit? yes we would, have already recommended it to friends.
Thank you to Stephen and Abbie for their table service

I’ve really missed being able to travel, so this quick break was our first trip and we were so looking forward to it! Generally things were fine. However, the bar/restaurant area is still closed, a shame as that’s a big selling point of this hotel. Breakfast consists of a bag left outside your door at £5 each, not fantastic value but better than nothing. Be clear about what you want as they misunderstood my order for breakfast. Perspex screens put up at reception but still a warm welcome. Generally staff were friendly and helpful. Room service currently available only from 5pm to 10pm. Parking however still £20 a night! It is right in the centre of Manchester though. You will require confidence to navigate your way to and from the hotel through Manchester’s tricky roads, with lots of one-ways and bus only lanes.
Overall rooms here are small and a little bit dated, but have good views and the hotel is very well situated. Once it fully gets going again, it will be a better proposition. It’s a little weird at present but that’s the world we’re living in. The prices currently are fair - around £65 a night for the room which is as low as I’ve seen it in the past.

Dear sfuhere, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It's interesting to hear about your experience and I understand how different things are at the moment. Trust us when we say, it's all new to us as well. Unfortunately, due to the situation with Covid-19 we have been able to reopen but with some limited services, at this time it does include the restaurant and bar being closed, but hopefully not for much longer. We have to assess the situation on a regular basis and decide upon what is best for our guests at the time. It's great to hear that the staff were friendly and I have passed your other comments on to the relevant departments. It would be lovely to welcome you back in the future and let's hope things get back to normal as soon as possible so that we can have all our offerings open for our guests. Rest assured we are constantly working on it. Kind Regards
