Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the Charingworth Manor yesterday and I have to say it was a huge disappointment. Positives were - food was good and the hotel was clean and tidy. Negatives were hotel is extremely dated especially the swimming pool changing rooms. The worse thing above all was the suite that we had specially booked, this was a huge disappointment especially the shower which was unsafe to be honest. It was so small it was basically unusable. Whilst showering you either kept opening the door or knocking off the shower products off of the shower caddy. This type of bathroom is really not what you expect from a suite. The communication by the hotel was also poor. I telephoned from the room and was told this was the best room they had and further to that I specially emailed the manager

Dear Y8656XZdamiah, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I am, of course, sincerely sorry to read your disappointment. It is always good to receive feedback from our guests, particularly those who highlight areas where we have failed to meet our usual high standards, I understand from my colleagues that an alternative room was offered, and it was your preference to stay where you were originally, as you rightly mentioned, we were fully committed with limited availability. These shortcomings do not reflect the true spirit of Charingworth Manor and, I would like to offer you my most sincere apologies for the experience you have had I hope we have an opportunity to redeem ourselves to you. With renewed apologies Martin

Couples weekend break. This is a beautiful Cotswold Manor House hotel in a lovely setting. The hotel is only small, and whilst it’s not the most luxurious it is full of character. Staff and service was excellent from start to finish, always attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Dinner in the evening was very good, with a reasonable variety of options. Would not hesitate in recommending a stay here and can’t wait to re-visit during the summer.

I have visited Charingworth half a dozen times over the last few years and it has been my families go to place for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries etc, but sadly no more my recent visit will be my last. We had booked an all in deal of dinner bed and breakfast which included a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were shown our room along with our wine and ice bucket but we’re then informed in no uncertain terms that we could only drink it in our room or off the premises, how petty is that. The meal in the restaurant was ok but nothing special and upon requesting the dessert menu were told that this would be an extra £11, this on the top of the £12 for a g&t. The next morning we were told that a 10% charge had been added to our bill for

Dear Jeff A, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, It is always good to receive feedback from our guests, particularly those which highlight areas where we have failed to meet our usual high standards, with which we can continually strive to achieve the consistency expected of us at all times and are fully committed to providing each and every one of our guests with the highest level of service and product that they have every right to expect and it was certainly not our intention to disappoint you in any way. We do email our guests before their arrival where we advise of our 10% service and that it is discretionary. I would like to offer you my most sincere apologies for the experience you have had I hope we have an opportunity to redeem ourselves to you. With renewed apologies Martin

Terrific country house hotel - the building is from the 15th century, with that beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone, in acres of gardens and fields. Even on an icy December day it was lovely walking all around. The hotel was very comfortable, and warm; we had an upgrade to a suite which was very welcomed, service was great, and the evening meal ( 2 courses included on our deal) was excellent. Although the building is old (no lift) it's been well maintained, the room was very good, and I'd disagree with the reviews saying it is in need of refurbishment. Nice bar, two lounges with log fires, and a large swimming pool which was almost too warm. Location is also very good, just a few minutes from Chipping Camden and Moreton-in-marsh, and 30 minutes to Stratford on Avon; we

Lovely, traditional hotel…which surpassed our expectations. Excellent housekeeping standards, delicious food (evening meal & breakfast), well cooked and served with care, outstanding pool and gym. It is so rare to find all this in one establishment. We were on a 3 night special break, which was excellent value for money. Thanks to the team for achieving this.

We went for afternoon tea today and it was lovely. Nice, fresh sandwiches and warm scones and tea. Very comfortable surroundings. What we did like was the nice warm sausage roll rounded the tea off nicely as some afternoon teas do not have a protein contingent.

Food/Service good. Bedroom adequate. Bathroom toiletries below par - nothing matched in terms of brand or quality. Having spent £269 per night DB&B, being asked to pay an additional £3.50 for a few scabby nuts in a ramekin dish (with already over priced pre dinner drinks), and moreover £16 for 3 meagre pieces of cheese, half a dozen crackers, 4 matchstick pieces of celery and a few grapes is exorbitant by anyone’s standards. Moreover, having emailed the hotel with observations and comments the ultimate insult is to be ignored without so much as an acknowledgment. Would not recommend & will certainly not return

We have stayed at Charringworth Manor four times now, and it is a favorite. The charm of the location, comfort of the rooms and quality of the food aside, Dan and his team go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. We'll be back.

A wonderful two night break - the staff generally are lovely but Chris deserves a special mention for his lovely manner and general desire to make everything perfect. The food was exceptional - my husband has a strict gluten free diet which I had noted on the booking - the team could not have been more accommodating with the least fuss. He was automatically given a gluten free menu at both breakfast and dinner (so much choice including a sensational gf sticky toffee pudding) and when we ordered coffee after dinner the waiter explained which petit fours were safe without prompting - it really allowed him to feel taken care of and enjoy his holiday. We were particularly impressed with the pool area which was very tidy and clean. Any requests were met with warmth and a clear

Stayed the weekend here for a birthday treat. It is a beautiful property in a wonderful setting. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was delicious and the staff were polite and friendly. I would wholeheartedly recommend it, however, if I was to make one small piece of constructive criticism....we stayed in a room with a private hot tub, the cover of the tub was old and worn and needs a bit of physical exertion to remove and replace as I think the mechanism is broken. I'm not sure an elderly person could
