Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport offers a convenient stay for those traveling through Gatwick, with its location near the terminals frequently lauded by guests. While some travelers appreciate the value and discounts provided, others are critical of the room sizes and prices. The staff earns praise for their helpfulness, and guests enjoy perks like fast-track security passes.
Although the rooms are recognized for their cleanliness and comfortable beds, the compactness and wet room design draw mixed reviews. The hotel's atmosphere is modern and stylish, yet some find it dark and the rooms too small, with noise levels occasionally causing concern.

We decided to stay at the airport for practicality, I chose Bloc Gatwick and what a wonderful surprise to rest. Helpful staff, a room with a bed and a large TV at the foot of the bed where we spent the afternoon relaxing and watching, a comfortable bathroom, we were presented with 2 bottles of water. On the floor there was a coffee machine, cappuccino, hot chocolate and tea at no additional cost. Airport restaurants have a discount when you present your hotel key. I want to emphasize that I booked the one without a window and I had no problems whatsoever, even though I was inside the airport there was no noise whatsoever. I loved the experience and will repeat it in the future.

What a great location, bang in the middle of Gatwick Airport South Terminal with reception desk on the 3rd (departures/security) floor but you can also take the lift up from the 2nd (arrivals/check in departure floor).
Receptionists very friendly and helpful. Tell you about control panel, about discount at terminal restaurants/cafes, tell you where your room is and also give you the fast track security card. In fact, all staff including the cleaners were friendly.
I had a double room with no view. Not sure whether to describe it as a very small room or a large pod! But of you're only staying for a night or two, it is perfectly survivable. Panel worked fine, TV control worked fine, air-conditioning/heating worked and so did the internet wifi.
Shower foam and sink soap was filled up, the room was very clean, ample towels, very comfortable bed and even a hair dryer. The shower/toilet is basically a wet room. Not a separate shower unit, the water ends up all over the floor and on the toilet. But the pressure was good and it was hot.
Along the corridor is a coffee machine room. Cappuccino, flat white, americano, macchiato, espresso, hot chocolate, tea bags etc. Good choice and it tasted fine. (much better than having the usual Nescafe sachets and kettle in your room!)
Overall, the rooms are small and in terms of pricing maybe double the price of a Travelodge on one of their cheaper nights, but it's all about the location and when the beds are comfy and the facilities are good, the staff are bright and helpful; that's good for me.
Would I return? Yes, definitely.

Good Afternoon, thanks so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your stay at Bloc Hotel. We're thrilled to hear that you found our location superb, right in the heart of Gatwick Airport's South Terminal, and that our Reception team was friendly and helpful. It’s great to know that you appreciated the convenience of the control panel, fast track security card, and the variety of coffee options available in the hot drinks room. I’m glad to hear you found your double room clean and equipped with all the essentials, even if you felt it was a bit small. We have many other more spacious room types should you want to try one of those on your next stay. While the wet room design can sometimes create a bit of a splash, it's encouraging to hear that the pressure and temperature worked well for you. We appreciate your understanding regarding our pricing and value the comfort and service we provide. Thank you for your kind words about our team and facilities; it truly makes a difference to us all to receive such positive feedback. The biggest compliment is that you'll be back to stay in the future and we look forward to welcoming you then. With warmest wishes Sarah Guest Relations

We had booked a room at Bloc previously and found a standard room to be 'Ok for a night' - they were fairly small, quite basic though clean and warm - so perfectly serviceable for a night prior to an early flight. This time we opted for a post booking upgrage to a VIP room (an extra £50). I have to say you get a lot more for your money and the upgrade was well worth the outlay. Warm, dry, well appointed, a very comfortable bed, panoramic corner windows giving great views of the bustling taxi area but with none of the noise. A bathroom with shower and plenty of storage space. A comfortable and relaxing stay with simple check-in and check-out and priority security passes thrown in too. So what stopped this being a five? - A couple of things - some musty smell in the external corridor (could have been some damp or cleaning chemicals) - didn't impact on the room but wasn't great to walk through. Also no functioning plug in the bathroom sink (a pet hate) rendering it unusable without some temporary improvisation as to a plug. Top tip - go for the VIP room when booking or wait for the offer on a standard booking (subject to availability) and take the upgrade. Well worth it.

Hi there Thank you for your detailed feedback. It’s great to hear that your experience with the VIP room was much improved and well worth the upgrade. The added comfort and features, such as the panoramic corner windows and priority security passes, certainly enhanced your stay. While you found the room warm, dry, and well-appointed with a comfortable bed and ample storage space, it’s clear that the musty smell in the external corridor and the non-functioning plug in the bathroom sink were issues that affected your overall experience. We appreciate your understanding that these didn’t impact your room directly but still acknowledge their presence. There are comments we will certainly take on board. We’re pleased that your stay was a good start to your holiday and that you found the VIP room to be a worthwhile upgrade. It’s helpful to know that our guests benefit from such features. Best wishes, Jade Guest Relations

After a very stressful day the Bloc hotel saved the day by giving us three rooms on one of the busiest days of the year. The bed is very large and sooo comfy. Lots of space for luggage, tea and coffee machine but also free hotel drinks machines on certain floors. Room was very clean. Bathroom is very snug but clean and shower powerful. I would say leave the shower til last as once it’s used the floor is wet to stand on to use the sink or toilet. Or pop towels down to soak up the water.
The hotel is right outside security for departures which has a giraffe, Wetherspoons, WHS and down stairs an M&S. if staying night before lots of food choices and if you’ve missed any bits. With this hotel they also give you complimentary premium security. If you need to check in baggage, the gates are just down the lift so very easy.
If I had to stay at Gatwick the night before a flight I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here.

Magical views for children- It would be a 5 Star easily where it not for the silly wet room....
I booked this hotel for ease because it is the only one actually in the airport. I also booked it to get my toddler excited because I knew the airport runway views would be a wonderful magical start to her holiday and it was! The room is all lit up a little bit like a spaceship that's what she called it. So it served its purposed My daughter loved it.
The beds were really really comfy and the whole room was Just stylish.
The young lad on check in (Monday the 8th January evening) was so funny And friendly - Great person to have on a front desk. I wish all hotels had someone like him.
The 20% wetherspoons discount was a bonus because that's where we were going to eat it anyway.
The free drinks room was a nice touch as well. I enjoyed having a hot chocolate before bed.
For an airport hotel it would be a five star airport hotel were it not for two things.
Firstly, mamma needs her coffee at the best of times, especially when getting up at the crack of dawn for a plane. Our coffee machine was broken and I would appreciate that having been checked and replaced before. I appreciate that the night porter came to try and investigate, but by then we were already checking out.
Secondly wet rooms for the love of God Why? These are a wonderful idea for those who are physically challenged or for people in their later years. But how have they found their way into regular hotel rooms? And why? I was travelling with my ex partner and co-parent with our daughter, So we basically just had to turn our backs as the other got changed Because the bathroom was soaking wet. At least we had been there done that and seen it, I often travel with my dad in a twin room, And in that situation one of us would have had to go out the hotel room physically. Plus my toddler kept going in now with her tights on and getting all wet. You don't really want soggy toilet paper and a dirty bathroom floor because The person who is ready already goes back into the bathroom with their outdoor shoes on and messes it up. Can hotels pls stop with this trend for wet rooms please? It would also be nice to have carpet on the floor instead of the weird squishy plastic thing they had. But I guess that is because that's its an airport hotel and there's lots of suitcases coming in and out.
However, This hotel is swish, funky, trendy, convenient with fun staff and magical views, So silly Wet room aside, I Absolutely recommend it!
Apologies for any typos from the voice to text software, It's the only way I can get anything done. If I could voice note this entire thing I would...

Hi Ted Lasso T, Thank you so much for taking the time to write/voice to text such a detailed review - we really appreciate it. I'm glad you and your family loved our stylish rooms, designed in every way to make the stay prior to a flight as efficient as possible. The comfy beds are a big part of that so I'm really pleased those were one of the highlights of your stay. I'm also really pleased that you enjoyed the food and beverage offerings we have here - we've worked hard to partner with our local restaurants to provide the best value for money options for our guests. I've passed your feedback on to the maintenance team regarding your coffee machine. We do run a 24 hour team who are able to fix any ad hoc requests, whenever they arise. Our wet rooms are designed to dry quickly, providing a large shower space suitable to fit our monsoon drench showers whilst also operating as a standard bathroom space. If you did need to use the bathroom before the floor has dried, do use our large towels to accelerate the drying process- more can be requested from Reception whenever you need. Overall, I am so thrilled you enjoyed your stay and I do hope we are able to welcome you and your family back on your next trip out of Gatwick. With warm wishes, The Guest Relations Team

The room is small, with the bed attached to the wall. But considering what it's for, it's perfect. And you can't hear a noise. It is clean and the bed and pillow super comfortable. The bathroom is small, with the shower on the same bathroom floor, no shower tray. The location is perfect, you leave and the security check is already in. And if you book on their website, they give you a fast track to pass control without queues. In the App you have discounts for restaurants before control and some after control.

You need somewhere convenient to stay at Gatwick Airport, this is the place. We arrived by train, walking to the hotel with luggage was no problem. Easy peasy!
The spotlessly clean podlike rooms are small but provide all you need, very comfortable at prices to suit all. We had a room with a window but if you wish to go cheaper, there are windowless options. We had a full sized bed, if you wish for bunks which again are cheaper, that’s also available. There are no restaurants facilities but as a guest of Bloc, you get a discount at the nearby eateries. Fasttrack / priority security is immediately next to the hotel and if you have an early flight the next morning, you can check your bags in with BA the night before. Your flight has to leave before 1300. It was a great experience, we thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the Bloc hotel.

For convenience, your can't find a better place to stay than Bloc for Gatwick.
The rooms are comfortable and clean and generally extremely quiet with good sound insulation. Unlike the Premier Inn nearby, you don't get much noise from other guests passing your room.
The 'wet room' style bathroom really isn't an issue:
Place your wash bags on the shelf above the sink - if they get wet there then ask yourself, are you having a shower or performing a circus act?
When you have your shower, place a towel outside the door, walk in and out at your leisure, then put your shoes and socks on once you've finished in the bathroom, this prevents wet footwear.
There's a large void underneath the double beds in the Vista rooms, definitely big enough for two suitcases.
If you're looking for luxury, or you're hard of thinking, then probably book elsewhere but if you're looking for a clean, functional and convenient stay, this is definitely the best you'll get in the area.

What a wonderful, well-informed review. You make many sensible points that we try and communicate but aren't always successful, the wet rom getting wet being the main one! Our aim is to be the most convenient, simple place to stay at Gatwick, offering comfort and a quiet place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the busy terminal. When we hear we've succeeded we couldn't be happier. It'll be a treat to be able to welcome you back to Bloc again before too long. All best wishes Sarah

A few things to note about your stay: Bring footwear for the bathroom (like sandals) because the shower, toilet, and sink are one unit. If you shower, everything gets drenched, so you'll need some footwear. Your feet will get wet after you've showered if you re-enter to use the toilet. Be aware that you receive numerous discounts for restaurants in Gatwick, so DON'T eat before you accept these to save yourself some money. I got excited by the Smart Room system, but it didn't work. On the plus side, the location is perfect and the room nice and quiet and the bed is great.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed our convenient location, quiet room, and comfortable bed. Not everyone loves our wet room as it will get thoroughly wet during a shower. It should dry quickly afterwards but if you want to use the facilities again before that happens, we suggest you put your used towel down on the floor to avoid your feet getting wet. Many apologies for the issues you had using the link that we sent you for the lift and the room functions. Embracing modern technology has been important to us but it's obviously got to work effectively for our guests. I've already passed you comments back to the IT department and they'll take immediate action to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. I hope this won't put you off from returning to stay with us at Bloc as we'd love the opportunity to welcome you back. Best wishes, Katie

This was an annovernight stay since my flight was early the next morning. My room had bunk beds and was very small, I can't imagine staying there for more than 1 night. The bathroom is an all in one, no separate shower so the floor and walls get wet when you shower. The bed was comfortable but the walls were thin. Since my room was located on th 7th floor just after the elevator, I could hear everyone talk or pass by. All in all, it was ok for 1 night. At check in I did receive a fast track pass through immigration and a list of restaurants where I could get 10%-20% off meals.

Hi Will, thank you for sharing your experience. It’s great to hear the bed was comfortable, and you made the most of the fast track pass and restaurant discounts during your stay. I understand the compact size of the bunk bed room may not be ideal for longer stays, and the wet room design can is novel and can take a bit of getting used to. We have plenty of other room types which are more spacious and some have a different bathroom layout. You might like to take a look at a VIP room for example for a really different, luxury experience. I also appreciate your feedback on the noise—being close to the elevator can sometimes lead to extra sound, and we’ll keep this in mind for future room assignments. Sound-proofing is an absolute priority at Bloc. We’d love to welcome you back for another short stay when your travel plans bring you to Gatwick. Best wishes, Sarah
