While Holiday Inn Express Swindon City Centre receives accolades for its cleanliness, with numerous travelers commending the immaculate rooms and diligent staff, the hotel's amenities and services provoke a mixed response. Some guests have called out the clean rooms and satisfactory breakfast, yet others lament over malfunctioning amenities, limited parking, and at times, slow service.

Hotel is well situated & close to shopping complex, car park is close and signs visual to show where hotel is! Due to covid-19 obviously a few changes , but really 1 lift working for the size of your hotel (unfortunately it’s is an old lift and frustrating you have to swipe your card every time ) check in was smooth lots of questions but fully explained! Breakfast is included but not worth the drama ! Told us this was freshly made at chosen time when checking in as you have to choose a time between 7/10am ! Collected at designated time ! And take your food out or to your room upon eating it Found that the bap was cold and the muffin was still frozen! Second day didn’t take up there offer and decided to go to local costa. The room it’s self is outdated (located on floor 4, but signs are in your face saying we’re going under a refurbishment) only seems the lobby and hallways are being done not the standard of holiday inn I am use to ! ,the room bathroom shelf on toilet was broken , didn’t realise this was like this until I found my phone on the floor smashed! It’s not even attached but looking from distance seems it’s straight ! Clearly not ...upon checkout a housekeeper assisted us we told them of this but she didn’t seem bothered what had happened with the shelf nor my phone ! Booking.com or third party’s should make the customer aware that two payments are taken upon checkin - 1 is for duration of stay and the other apparently is for damages pre authorisation- clearly who goes to a hotel to damage a room ? Least your being honest I suppose, but on checkout no mention of returning the £10.00 nor did I get a VAT RECEIPT , this was probably because non receptionist was checking me out of the hotel ! Please keep your standards! Would return if was ever in the area

Stayed for one night in a family room (2 adults, 2 children) in Swindon whilst visiting family who live nearby so the hotel is perfect for us an anyone who wants easy access to the Swindon shops, entertainment and the outlet village is only 15min walk. No parking at the hotel though but plenty of pay car parks with 5mins walk. Be aware the hotel has been going through building/remodelling works and some work still needs to be done. This is reflected in some of the decor and quality of work. However the room was a great size of the four of us with king-size bed and sofa bed and still room to move. Buffet breakfast included was good with plenty of choice. It's included in the price so this is not Michelin quality but still not bad and everyone enjoyed it. Have stayed here a few times now and would be happy to stay again. Not the sort of hotel to spend the day in. It's a room for the night close to the mainline station.

My family stayed for 2 nights at this hotel for the August bank holiday and this is by far the worst experience we've had for a Holiday Inn. I can understand it is a express but for a big company the customer service shouldn't lack. The building may have gone/going through renovation but this shouldn't affect the efficiency of the personnel/staff. The room itself was OK, enough room for a family of 4. I asked for an extra pillow as my wife needed an extra one for comfort as she is heavily pregnant and apparently there was no spare pillow at all. For such a big chain you don't have an extra pillow?
Breakfast was a shamble, a ticklist was given for either bacon or sausage bap a drink and a fruit. Come morning, the queue for breakfast was almost going out of the building. Empty paper bags lined up empty on the counter. It took at least 1h30m to get the bap. The contents was a cold as ice bacon/sausage bap and the orange juice was a smart price carton drink diluted with 75% water. It was essentially water with orange colouring. I think there may only have been one kitchen staff prepping breakfast for a fully booked hotel. The receptionist filled in as additional kitchen staff and one of them just filled a pint cup with 1/4 orange juice and filled it up with water. Lady stick to doing the recption, are you trying to save the company by topping up the drink with water when it's already a smart price juice?
Didn't bother to get the breakfast on the 2nd morning. Opted to eat out instead.
Major improvements needed.

I arrived yesterday at the Holiday Inn Express, Swindon for a one night stay as a stop gap due to plans the following day.
Upon arrival there was no-one on reception, eventually a woman appeared to check me in who was completely incapable. She gave me a key card and after getting to the fourth floor it didn’t work. I called reception from my phone she offered no apology I was just told to come down and get a new one.
Trekking back to reception she handed me a new card with no apology or explanation as to why the card didn’t work. Then my boyfriend arrived an hour later he was also given a key that did not work. Clearly at this point there were issues with room keys.
At 3 o’clock in the morning we were woken by two men entering the room, it was absolutely terrifying. They had been drinking and said they had also been assigned the room and given a key. After some discussion they left the room.
When we raised this in the morning the woman behind the desk was obviously aware of the situation but had we not mentioned anything I believe she would have just let this serious incident go by unacknowledged.
I said that I wanted a refund as a bare minimum but, although she was a manager, she said she was unable to do that and needed to escalate to another manager! I was informed that I would be given a full explanation as to what had happened tomorrow.
We will await the response of management but just an apology is not going to cut it. My boyfriend and I have both travelled independently and we are used to budget accommodation such as hostels but we have never experienced such a breach of security before. Regardless of the price the safety and welfare of the visitors should be paramount, especially in times of Covid.
The situation has been very distressing and the handling by management has been poor to say the least. This has made me feel very uneasy about staying in a hotel alone in future. This could have all been a very different story if the men had not been able to be reasoned with.
If you are thinking of staying here alone please keep this into consideration.

Firstly, I must add the caveat that I didn't book this, usually I avoid Holiday Inn Express like the plague, but it was booked on my behalf.
Due to renovation there was no parking, so having finally found the darkest car park in the world at the railway station, I paid 10 quid to park and traipsed around to the hotel.
It took ages to check in, and as there was only one lift, anyone with a heavy case heading for a higher floor was out of luck.
The room was boiling when I walked in, whilst the shower had been set to freezing cold. I should also give a special mention to the world's smallest shower head.
The bed was OK and I had a reasonable sleep, but breakfast was nothing short of appalling. A few slices of cheap, rubbery bacon, a pot of awful-looking scrambled eggs and some overcooked sausages.
Seriously, try anywhere other than this place.

This is a great value for money stay. With the price you pay, you get a pleasant and comfortable room, perfectly functional for a night or two, with an excellent breakfast included as part of the price.
All of the staff we came across were very friendly and were keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay. This was except for one gentleman working in the kitchen at breakfast time who publicly scolded his colleague working in the breakfast area for trying to make guests’ experiences better (and causing him more work). This was unfortunate to see happen in public.
We had a problem with our room in the evening, with the toilet not flushing. This was quickly resolved by the team and we were moved to another room, with apologies. There was nothing more that could have been done and the issue was dealt with professionally and well.
I’d recommend staying here for a night or two for anyone. Great value and a consistent stay.

We stayed here as part of a coach party with National Holidays. The Hotel was extremely clean and all the staff we encountered were amazingly friendly even though at times they were very busy.
Check in was efficient and we were in our room in no time. Room, although small, had all we needed for a comfortable stay.
Breakfast was good - with continental, fresh fruit, and a full English if required. You could help yourself to hot drinks.
I enjoyed the evening meal on our first night (Pate, Veg Lasagna, Sponge cream cake) it filled a gap and we have to understand the hotel will be on a tight budget with National Holidays so didn’t expect too much.
As these holidays are so inexpensive we always budget in a nice meal out and so enjoyed a meal on our second day in the wonderful city of Bath - so cant comment on the hotel evening meal on the second night.
There is not much going on in Swindon Centre. We did visit the local Wetherspoons which is 5 mins from the hotel as are a few other bars and shops. The area seemed in need of some investment - however the hotel is smart and modern.
Overall a great stay at a clean and friendly hotel

It was such a poor experience and left me completely shocked
A lot of things didnt work
1. Firstly the lifts were not working and we had to seven flights of stairs to get to our room
2. The airconditioning was leaking and there was continuous water dropping in the room
3. There were no tissues in the bathroom and the previous box that had 2 tissues was not replaced
4. The kettle was not working
5. The remote for the TV was not working
6. The shower was broken so half the water was leaking through the shower pipe
7. The iron's steam function was not working and it ruined my dress with all the water that came out
I also complained and the only thing they were able to fix was the TV remote and they offered me another room which was one floor higher and with my dodgy knee I had to decline as there was no lift. Everytime we had to get out we had to climb 7 floors as the room was on the 5th floor but you have to climb a few flights before you get to the first floor. With so many issues in the room the room should have been put out of service. These basic hotels already offer very few services and if they cant get them right then its appalling that they are in operation

Firstly this hotel advertises parking on site, that is not true case. You need to park in the local train station car park at £9:40 per day . The city is an absolute dump and and one of the worst I’ve ever had the misfortune to stay in. The rooms are clean and basic but the food is poor. £12 for a burger and chips and had better from the travelling fair grounds. Would I stay in this hotel again, no, would I recommend this hotel, no. (Actually tried to book another hotel prior to check in )
