Detailed Reviews
A visit to this hotel this afternoon, left me wondering about the Spa/Pool facilities. The afternoon tea was fabulous! Really loved those Chocolate Brownies with a fresh Raspberry on top. Service was excellent too, friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble, the same with the Spa/Gym team.
The Jacuzzi was and the Spa facilities Included. out of service.Say no more!
We visited on a Groupon Afternoon Tea voucher with a glass of Prosecco each
The showers were a hit and miss. It was either very hot, or very cold and nothing refreshing, as they trickled out at the best.
The edge of the pool is very slippery, there should be anti slip mats around that pool. I was prewarned by someone in the changing rooms before entering. The pool ladders are loose, I got stuck in the rungs whilst getting in on one and nearly snapped my leg off. Good Job I can swim, or I'd have panicked and most probably drowned before anyone would have noticed me. Big sign at one of the pool about jumping, running and dive bombing the pool. Along with signs about "no children." Whilst there I witnessed a Grandmother with her Grandaughter who was very little, encouraging her to jump into the pool in the very shallow end, then catching sight of the sign, so moved her to the 1.45mtr deep at the other end of the pool.
The pool is very shallow, my Fiance banged his knees on the bottom of the pool.
The good thing is though, the pool is nice and warm, so perfect for people with joint or physical injuries.
Classes in the pool are very early morning or late afternoon/evening time.T here is no Sauna, but a Finnish Sauna in both changing rooms. This was lovely and hot, where I cooked really well in there. Most probably the highlight of the Spa. The Gym is tiny but no one seemed to use the state of the art equipment whilst we were there. Not for me with a dodgy heart.
Car Parking is free, you must register the Registration number on the computer screen in Reception to evade getting fined and toed off.
Food on the Restaurant menu was basic, but it was expensive. There are plenty of other eateries around this hotel and not that far away.Overall it was good but the Spa let it down, due to lack of Amenities and slippery floors & loose pool ladders.

Response from IHGService, Guest Relations Manager at Holiday Inn Swindon, an IHG hotel
Responded 1 Apr 2020
Hi radicol2001, Thank you for choosing our hotel during your visit to Swindon! We pride ourselves on delivering an enjoyable hotel experience and it seems that there are lapses that made an impact on your experience. Our Spa and pool amenities should have been the highlights of your stay and I'm sorry to hear your disappointment due to the slippery floors and loose pool ladders. I shared your experience to our hotel management. Trust that all you've highlighted that we need to work on will be looked into, so better service will be sorted out. We value the opportunity you've given us. I hope you'll come to visit us again and show you our commitment to providing an exceptional experience. All the best, Jomar M. Case Manager IHGService

I stayed at this hotel recently for a couple of nights whilst in Swindon for work, and was very impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful, parking is free, and there is a leisure club and swimming pool for the guests to use. Breakfast and evening meal were both nice, and the room service was swift and good value. There's a little M&S food just a couple of minutes away for snacks, or you can buy them in reception.
The room was warm, and I couldn't adjust the temperature as it's centrally set, but by opening the window I soon got it to cool off.
My only negative comment would be that on the morning I left, I noticed that the cleaners had propped a number of fire doors, which was a tad unsettling.
I would definitely stay here again though - it's head and shoulders above the Holiday Inn Express in the town centre!

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review of your time staying with us. I was delighted to read that you enjoyed all aspects of our hotel and team, great news! I will of course be speaking to my Housekeeping team regarding the fire doors as this is obviously not allowed and thank you for bringing it to my attention. I very much look forward to welcoming you to stay with us again in the near future. Matt

Comfortable, basic and very clean double room taken for a week end stay. The bed was particularly comfortable and there were a selection of pillows. Complimentary tea and coffee available. Shower room was small but adequate. I liked the eco friendly soap and shower gel dispensers meaning no throw away silly little plastic bottles. We didn't try the breakfast which was extra but menu looked varied.
Ideal location for quick access to the M4 and also the rest of Swindon. Good leisure facilities available if you want. Rooms are well sound proofed as we had a family with children next to us but didn't hear a thing.
Room a little bit tired in the way of furnishings / net curtains but overall excellent value for money and would stay again
Our dog also felt very much at home here!

We stayed here for a night on the way south for a funeral in Hampshire and we wanted to spend time visiting a couple of locations on the journey. We were allocated a really quiet room at the end of a corridor and away from busy roads and the beds were very comfortable, so we had a really good night's sleep. We choose twin bedded rooms as we prefer that in hotels and the room was plenty big enough, which is not always the case in twin rooms. The bathroom was in excellent condition and appeared fairly new. This is a full Holiday Inn and not a Holiday Inn Express as mentioned by a previous reviewer.
We ate in the restaurant also had breakfast the next morning which is a full English breakfast as normal, though the chef needs to serve that to you when you go up to the counter, rather than the normal self service in Holiday Inns. At both meals the service and food was very good. The restaurant was quiet, but not totally deserted.
The main plus for this hotel though is that in these covid times we felt totally safe as the hotel was spotless and they were obviously following very good procedures during the pandemic. We have stayed in three other English hotels this summer/autumn and we could not say that of all the others sadly. There were fewer staff than normal as there were far fewer residents in the hotel on the Friday night we stayed (16th Oct), but there was no shortage of staff to perform the necessary duties. Cindy, who was on reception and also seemed to keep an eye on the hotel in general, was a really good member of staff who is a great asset to the hotel. She was extremely friendly as well as being very efficient with her duties. Anything we asked her for (e.g. an extra sheet) was delivered to our room immediately.
We stayed a week in the area of the funeral to take a short tourist break and had intended to travel home in one day, but decided to break our journey again in this hotel the following Friday and our experiences were just as good and Cindy was also on duty that week. The hotel in a good location to break our journey as there is plenty to do/see in the Wiltshire area and further south. Stonehenge is within easy reach and Avebury even nearer and a good place to visit. Going on that route also gave us chance to stop off at Salisbury and the new Forest, rather than taking our normal route via the A34 and the M3, which can be very busy and monotonous.
We will definitely stay at this hotel again, perhaps for a longer stay as we felt there were other things to see/do within east travelling distance.

My husband and I were having a lovely short stay at this hotel until the rude swim coach lady started screaming at me not to take photos of my husband in the jacuzzi even though there was no signage visible at the premises saying “no photos allowed”. Fortunately this did not ruined our Babymoon for us because we had a really great time visiting Oxford and Bath.
The bedroom was nice and big, but the bathroom was really small with hardly any room for 2 people in it and be able to open the door. Also we did not have enough shower gel/shampoo for our stay, we informed the hotel reception about this, they did not come to the bedroom to refill the dispenser in the bathroom, we were given samples instead. We then run out and had to ask again for more shower gel/shampo.
When having breakfast we did not like the staff serving the coffee, we asked for hot milk and the lady said she would get us hot milk but was too busy at the moment it would take 10min?? We had to ask twice for more coffee because they said they were busy, we understand covid restrictions but it would have been much easier to have a coffee machine with hand sanitiser available and people would serve themselves.

Stayed here overnight on a road trip. Beds comfy, bathroom modern only with shower (seems to be low on pressure) clean new carpets. Good view of some trees and some rusty shipping containers . Outside looks like it needs a spruce up. Harry on reception needs a mention. Really outstanding member of staff. Badge said in training, training for what, superman?! Really patient and hardworking. Gather there were some staff shortages but he really did an excellent job of being a super manager. Hotel was fully booked. Gym, pool and jacuzzi working, but sauna not. Brenda the woman who runs the pool is fab, hilarious and fun person. Also the breakfast we had was being replenished at 10.15 by a somewhat tired chef, maybe they got shortages in kitchen also. Really lovely girl working in the breakfast area with a pony tail doing the coffees, had a vibe and some jokes with her. Food offering was good. Apart from the pot they put the scrambled egg in, that needs tossing out. Coffee was great. Room bigger than average for a standard. The house prosecco is nice. Good job Harry!!!

Stayed here for 3 nights last week with our dog. It was £179 for the 3 nights including breakfast which we thought was a great deal. Had a very pleasant stay. Do not be put off by the dated exterior, the hotel is lovely and modern inside. Couldn’t fault the breakfast it was great.
Recommend to anyone wanting to stay with their dog, the bar area is dog friendly so you can eat breakfast, dinner etc here, lots of grass areas outside of the hotel to let them do their business haha and also a lovely country park across the road for walks. There was a £10 charge per night for our dog to stay (on top of the £179) which we thought was reasonable.
If we ever return to the area we would definitely stay again.

Staff polite and helpful.
Bedroom was very clean and appeared to have had a renovation, however it was quite black & mouldy around the windows - please clean or renew windows., The bathroom was very clean and indeed also very small, hardly any room for one person. The hanging soap I found difficult to use but fortunately, as an experienced traveller, had brought my own soap. Plenty of tea/coffee etc in the room. Breakfast had a decent selection and the quality of cooked breakfast was good. I do appreciate with Covid etc that items had to be wrapped up for individual use. The downside was that i felt the Dinning Room had a "canteen" feel about it.

We visited this hotel on a coach holiday and asked for a ground floor room due to my wife's mobility problems this was granted. The room was clean with comfortable twin beds as requested and the small bathroom had a nice walk in shower. The menu was restricted, as we expected, but provided perfectly acceptable choice of meat, fish and veggie mains. Choice of starters and sweets was also perfectly acceptable. Breakfast again had a more than adequate choice of dishes available.
The staff were perfectly pleasant and dealt promptly with a TV problem.
Minor niggles - as we are both in our eighties handrails in the shower would have been a good addition. The TV menu took some sorting out, the channel numbers did not correspond with any system I have used before!
We did not like the bar prices and I resent the attempt to put American sized tips on bar service! In fact we walked to the filling station at the entrance and bought four cans of lager for less than the price of one can of Guinness at the bar!
