Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went to The Churchill for the first time for a family birthday celebration, the rooms were perfectly appointed and we were greeted by the lovely Hannah on reception who we remembered from The Bear in Hungerford. Onto the pub where we were greeted at the door and seated efficiently and safely by a lovely young lady ( I didn’t get her name, Kate I think) we had lovely food and the manageress had a chat with us too and she was very personable Anna was her name. I highly recommend this beautiful place.

We had just a one night stay here and it was absolutely great. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was surprisingly quiet, even the cows in the field didn’t wake us up early.

The food was great in the evening and the breakfast in the morning was varied and plenty for my hungry family.

The WiFi in the restaurant is very patchy and led to problems with us paying our bill. That said, the hotel WiFi was very reliable.

The staff were very polite and helpful.

The hotel room had everything we needed and was like new.

Room Tip: There is a cheeky soft play for the children whilst you’re waiting for your food. Very clever idea!

I recently stayed at the Churchill on my way to Dorset travelling from the Midlands and had a pleasant stay encouraging me to write this review.
The room was to an exceptional standard and the receptionist was very pleasant and accommodating, We also had dinner in the restaurant across the car park as it was separate from the accommodation and although the meals were sub standard one team member Karen stood out and rectified the situation.
Thank you Karen for making us welcome and avoiding an unpleasant evening. Hope to see you again and keep up the good work.

My sister and I visit family in the area several times a year, and have usually stayed at the Premier Inn for convenience, but as its standard has been steadily sinking,we decided we were worth better,so decided to give the Churchill a try. I can't tell you how happy we are that we did,for not a great deal of difference in price you get a very different experience. On arrival the place smells lovely, the staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very clean and welcoming and the walk in shower was wonderful,I could have stayed under the monsoon head all day. We also had breakfast twice and lunch once in the pub/restaurant next door which was hot, freshly cooked and delicious, served by yet more friendly staff. All in all a very positive experience, one which we are looking forward to repeating frequently,we have definitely found our new home from home.

Stayed one night on business. Located out of town and close to the M4. The car park was almost full but the hotel was very quiet (apart from an elephant upstairs, but that's not the hotels fault). Blackout curtains and lack of lights to rear of hotel meant total darkness in the room at night. Mattress relatively hard. A/C very powerful as room was ice cold when I arrived, it was 30'c outside.
Wifi via SkyWifi set up. New hotel and it shows with very clean decor, no mold, unstained carpets etc. Pleasant staff. Pub next door provides chain type varied menu. Recommended.

Just returned home following an overnight stay here. Very very impressed with the standard of the hotel. Large car park, staff friendly and the rooms were fantastic. This place has been built to a high standard and feels very classy. Literally no noise during the night guaranteed a great nights sleep. The pub next door serves great food at very reasonable prices. Overall I would say this is the best place I have stayed this year and I can’t wait to go back.

My family and I (there was 5 of us) came in for a meal earlier this month and were mostly served by a lovely young lady named Jodie. Jodie was incredibly attentive, friendly, polite and actually showed an interest in chatting to us which was really nice to see. She was so lovely. The cheesy garlic bread starters and Hunters chicken were absolutely gorgeous to eat, and I later on stayed in the hotel by myself and thought the room was very cosy with a gorgeous view from the window. All round 5 stars, looking forward to seeing you again!!

Myself and the wife stopped off here yesterday for a meal and we were so glad we did because it was absolutely delicious. Our lovely server Hazel was very friendly and pleasant . They had a special of two dinners and two drinks for £20 but with selected drinks only so we went for that but said we’d have different drinks which we would pay for separately but unfortunately Hazel didn’t explain that unless we took the drinks as well as the meal we couldn’t have that deal so ended up paying nearly 3 times the price of what we thought it was going to be but never mind as it was absolutely lovely and would definitely recommend it .

When away on business this is a convenient stopover - warm, friendly and nicely furnished. Pub / restaurant next door provides all the amenities to enable you to park the car and relax, only a short walk from your hotel room. Greta overnight stay.
