Delta Hotels Swindon garners praise for its immaculate cleanliness and prime location that's a stone's throw from the city center and the M4. The atmosphere of the hotel is often described as modern and comfortable, with spacious rooms that, while generally clean and cozy, have received some criticism for being slightly dated and occasionally noisy. While the amenities including a gym, pool, and sauna are satisfactory, guests have noted they can feel crowded.
The service is generally well-regarded, although some guests experienced inconsistencies. Travelers advise that the hotel's value proposition is less compelling, citing high prices for food and beverages.

Detailed Reviews
Can I just say to start that the Marriott hotels are one of our favourite hotels to stay at wherever we are going. The hotels cleanliness, hygiene, outlay, rooms and overall hotel stay was up to high standards as always. The staff are so professional and helpful and cannot do enough for you, but I can’t help feeling so sorry for them in these current circumstances. They are trying so hard to maintain the hotels reputation in this horrible environment just now but unfortunately the way things are just now the up keep of the restaurant and facilities has had to be limited which affects your overall stay. One of the things we loved about the Marriott was breakfast, a little more expensive than a lot of other places to include this but was always worth it, unfortunately this time with very few bookings into the hotel, with the strict table service and overall COVID situation, they have had to limit their menu and Me and my husband didn’t like the experience of this at all. I think we need to try and help hotels like this when we can to maintain their upkeep of remaining open and I know we will definitely be booking back into the Marriott hotels but I don’t think I would pay for breakfast/meals again until things become more normal when that time comes. Sad times just now.

Response from Alexandra Vasilescu, Guest Services / Front Office at Delta Hotels Swindon
Responded 30 Sept 2020
Dear Trv20, Thank you for taking the time to write your Tripadvisor review following your recent stay here at the Swindon Marriott Hotel. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring you have a fantastic stay and we truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us so that we may continue to strive to deliver exceptional service. We were pleased to read that you felt safe during your stay with us. Here at the hotel, we are taking our guests' and associates' safety very seriously. It was wonderful to read that you were well looked after by our staff in the hotel. This lovely feedback has been shared in our daily interdepartmental meeting so that the associates can be recognised for their hard work. Thank you very much! I was disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your breakfast and you found the menu to be limited. At this current time, we are operating with a reduced menu in order to be able to provide a quicker service whilst we are keeping our guests and associates safe. Please rest assured your comments have been passed onto our Food & Beverage Manager. Once again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to leave us with your valuable feedback. I much hope we will get the opportunity to welcome you through our doors once again in the near future to demonstrate how we have made improvements based on your feedback. Warm regards, Alex

Pros - Booked with points as the rates were reasonable. Plus paid extra points for a room upgrade and felt it was worth it as I did like the larger room with a sofa and coffee table. Huge TV. Bathroom was quite small but everything worked. Also, service requests by phone (e.g. ice bucket) were completed promptly.
Outside it is a short 15 minute walk up the hill to a selection of shops and a lively bar/restaurant scene so it's not quite as isolated as we first thought. This was useful as you currently need to ring and make a reservation in advance to eat at the hotel.
Cons -
Check in was not seamless : I was asked to pay cash for my room upgrade which I had already paid with points. Fortunately, on this occasion I had printed everything out so I had paper proof with me. The receptionist took a copy so they could investigate further but it was a big negative that their booking systems did not work properly and I was glad I had the paper with me.
In the room the air conditioning machine was an old fashioned big box (built into the external wall), very noisy and hard to control.
Overall - this hotel is quite uninviting and soulless (COVID to blame no doubt). I imagine that given it's location it's normally very busy with business customers so perhaps that doesn't matter. So this Marriott is more of a 'place to sleep' business option than a 'must visit' hotel. I doubt I will be back in a hurry.

We visited for 2 nights, being titanium members, we were upgraded to a suite using our suite nights. We were very grateful for this, however… we were attending for a wedding, we booked an early check,
we arrived 30 minutes later than expected and were told on arrival that our room wouldn’t be available for a further 30 minutes. We would have expected a call to let us know as you’d expect that someone would request an early check in for a reason. HOWEVER, when pressed, the front desk supplied a separate room for us to change. Not ideal but appreciated.
When we got back from the wedding and checked in properly, the room was lovely and we had a lovely welcome gift and and written note. The personal aspect was gratefully received.
The next day, televisions in the rooms weren’t working, having a 2 year old daughter, we were sadly looking forward to cuddling up and watching rubbish tv. We called reception and no alternative was offered except for that “this is an ongoing issue with the whole hotel so you aren’t alone”. However… the internet was great and we could easily stream in HD to our personal devices. The rest of the room was brilliant and the service and attention paid to our room was immaculate.
We went to breakfast (the first morning only)…. Firstly, we were expecting it to be included as titanium members, we were informed that it wasn’t and we needed to pay £16ish for each breakfast. Being with other guests of the wedding, we didn’t want to make a scene, as well as the embarrassment to ourselves if we were wrong so agreed. Upon receipt of the ‘breakfast’, we were utterly disappointed, I made a comment to the waitress and she nervous/embarrassed giggled it off and disappeared. We approached the desk about the price vs quality of this ‘breakfast’ where we were offered 30% off if we weren’t happy. I asked whether they were happy to serve it (along with a photo), and I was told that she wasn’t and that after she’d seen what we were served, she’d ordered the trays to be refreshed. I offered to pay full price but required a price that she’d have been happy to pay…. The breakfast was then free.
We were utterly embarrassed by being served this, being expected to either eat or refuse a meal that someone in charge thought was substandard and then challenged about the fact we weren’t happy to pay for it.
I’d love feedback please.
Points to note: not telling a customer that a room won’t be ready for their check in time and disregarding a customer wanting to enjoy their room are quite bad.
Customer service when face to face and room requests/personal touches were great!
Breakfast and customer service at breakfast was horrendous.
Please please please imagine paying £16 for the attached picture.

I booked a suite here to stay with my girlfriend for a relaxing mid week break at your “spa hotel”. Firstly, the cast iron restaurant was “fully booked” on our first night so had no choice but to eat out, despite when we looked in to the restaurant there were many tables left. The service was absolutely shocking in the cast iron last night - £160 for the meal and had to ask twice for cutlery, was seated in the bar as the main restaurant was shut, had kids running around us and had to ask for wine glasses to be cleaned. All waiters (bar two young adults) seemed uninterested and frankly unfamiliar with the job. The small pool this evening at 19:30 was filled with kids and people playing games and meant we could not have a swim in your “spa”. The room cleaners not only clean the rooms every other day - they broke our phone charger and told us they would reimburse us! This hotel is unorganized, understaffed, poorly managed and not worth the money. We came here with an open mind and looking to just relax - yet we have found it unsettling, chaotic and very displeasing. Having had a chat with some local members, we are aware we are not the only people with this experience.

We booked to stay here via booking.com for a girls weekend away. We booked lots of activities to do whilst in Swindon. However, 4 days before we were supposed to arrive I had a message through booking.com to say the hotel had cancelled my stay. I phoned the hotel and spoke to a receptionist who informed me that it was booking.com who had cancelled my stay, and they were fully booked for the weekend so I was unlikely to get my room back. Obviously this was not what I wanted to hear! After speaking to booking.com they found that the hotel was actually closed due to covid so they had cancelled my stay. I then called back the hotel to ask why they had not told me the hotel was actually closed and the next receptionist didn’t even know it was closed! The spa attached was still open with whom we booked appointments so we had to then cancel these, as well as all other activities we’d booked for the weekend.
Overall very poor communication, still no formal cancellation notice from the hotel or apology. Very confusing mixed messages from everyone. I will not be booking to come here again.

Just spent 2 night there in a tired looking room. There were a lot of people staying there with young children who were allowed to roam and play in the corridors. The receptionists whose grasp of English was just adequate were not particularly competent and we had to keep asking for towels. The food was nice although it would be great to get back to a more thorough menu.

Worst breakfast I've ever seen and I have stayed in this hotel many times. Service ok'ish with really polite staff who seem to be stuck with some archaic rules they are expected to follow. No Bar service after 11.00 unless you deposit £50 and even then you can only chose between spirits or bottled beer. So we ate breakfast off site and we ate our meals off site which defeated the idea of us all staying in a hotel we thought we knew. Never again

Had a one night stay with my daughter. There was ample parking. The reception we received was excellent. The room was clean and had a lot of space. We had a double bed each, which were clean, fresh and so comfortable, there were plenty of pillows and we could turn on the air con at a temperature that suited us. Breakfast was excellent. All tasted fresh and looked lovely. Again the staff were friendly and very respectful. Overall a great place to stay.

The hotel booked was booked mainly because of the leisure facilities.
The communication was sent prior to the day before check in that swimming pool operations is from 10:00- 5:45 PM.
A group of us booked the rooms and had breaksfast very early to ensure that we can hit the pool and then for day experiences outside.
Several families made way to the pool at 10:00. When we reached they told us that the pool is closed for classes until 11 AM.
Had they told us this before we could have better planned the day. Very disappointing and either of the departments put the blame on each other that the communication was passed between the club and the reception. Guests missed out on the experience and better part of the day ruined!

there was no formal code, we went smart casual
hope this helps
I am so sorry I cannot remember because I was on the second floor. There may be but it would be best if you gave the hotel a ring and they will be able to tell you straight away. There are lifts to all floors and all facilities, ie. Bar, Restaurant and leisure facilities are all on the ground floor.
Hello,
Thanks for your message.
We do apologise for the delay in response. The hotel was closed due to Covid-19 however since Friday 25th September, we are back open now.
Should there be anything else you would like to know please do not hesitate to contact us.
