Three suggested improvements - the ability to check in a guest in less than 10 minutes at 22:00 (the key card not be coded to the room), buy more normal tea bags so you don't run out at breakfast (Earl Grey is not the same) and have a quiet word with the builders that are regular weekly guests about their VERY LOUD swearing at breakfast. Good points - rooms are fine for a night and it's close to the station.

The hotel has just reopened after a nearly three-year hiatus when it was being utilised for other purposes and thereafter receiving an extensive refurbishment of the whole property.

The communal areas are very welcoming, and the restaurant and bar space is a relaxing area to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat, in this domain I would normally expect to locate a reception desk yet this hotel does not have one, instead you are booked in at the bar or in the middle of the entranceway on a mobile phone.

The team are all welcoming and for me continued to strive to make sure that my stay was the finest that I could experience through efficiency and professionalism.

Taking the lift to the second floor and via well-maintained and clean corridors the standard double rooms I resided in were very compact, the smallest Ibis Budget room that I have stayed in; just big enough for one person yet very restricted for two.

The bed is pushed into a corner of the room and only accessible from one side making it difficult for two people to access comfortably, with the person sleeping against the wall being unable to leave or enter the bed without disturbing the second person in the bed.

The space issue with the bed is a shame given that the memory foam mattress which is topped with a nice duvet and pillows encased in crisp white clean linen made for a relaxed lie-down.

The room has one padded chair which is an upgrade from the normal hard plastic cube present in most Ibis Budget rooms yet one of the major issues in this particular Ibis Budget was that there was no flat surface, a desk or the like, in which you could place a laptop meaning it was challenging and awkward to work in the room, ladies would have nowhere to place makeup, hair curlers, etc.

The room has a large smart television yet disappointingly it was missing around half of the normal free view channels available in the UK, as for the Wi-Fi this was as good as it gets in a hotel, free, speedy and easy to connect to yet nowhere to rest a laptop other than the bed it is difficult to use.

Unlike most of the Ibis Budget, the bathrooms were completely separate from the bedroom, no shower and sink in the bedroom space in this Ibis Budget, as there is a full en-suite bathroom also compact yet some would say, including myself, it is perfectly formed, decorated and spotlessly clean with a powerful shower, fluffy towels and foamy shower gel.

The rooms do not have any kettles for making a hot drink and they are not available for loan from reception like most of the Ibis Budget hotels in the UK; anyway, there is nowhere to place the kettle other than the floor.

The location is also a double-edged sword being convenient yet also it is very noisy and would make some nervous about their safety.

The hotel is convenient for the town centre with the shopping and attractions offered, it is also within a short distance of the town's railway station and bus station (closing imminently), yet with a very noisy late opening nightclub and Wetherspoons bar adjacent to the hotel you will experience noise into the early hours, especially at the weekends. Also, walking back to the hotel can be intimidating given that the hotel is located in an area of the town that is in requirement of regeneration with most of the shops closed and the area being rundown.

Breakfast was a limited eat as much as you like buffet, the only hot items being rashers of bacon and American-style pancakes cooked by a self-service machine, the rest of the offering is high-quality ingredients presented well.

Overall this is an Ibis Budget that is a little different than the majority in the UK, and in summary, I am not sure that the positives outweigh the negatives here however the hotel normally offers good value for money.

hotel is OK, budget is in its name so I didn't expect much. But a ripped duvet cover is a punch below the belt line. What do they tell room service? If you see ripped duvet covers don't bother to throw it away, keep using until it disintegrates? Not sure...

Hard to review a place that you have not stepped inside but here goes.
Travelling down to Swindon for the air tattoo this July I booked the Ibis budget in Swindon last August.
All was well I received not one but 2 confirmation e mails. Two days before travelling I received another e Mail saying how much they were looking forward to seeing us.
After a very long 500mile trip from Scotland we arrived at the Ibis budget around 8pm. We were unable to gain access and after a bit of a wait we approached by a few Asian guys who appeared out of the hotel. They seemed a bit intimidating and asked what we wanted. I showed them my confirmation letter and they really were not interested and said this hotel is shut. I showed them my confirmation e Mail and they eventually said they would fetch someone but we had to wait on the street and not enter the building. A youngish woman finally showed up and said the hotel is shut, your name is not on my list (whatever that meant!) and said its airshow weekend you probably won't find anywhere else, I can't help you. Goodbye.
Left us out on the street.
Fortunately my partner managed to find us an out of town hotel (at nearly 3 times the price of our Ibis price) This of course involved taxis out and in of town every day at more expense.
I have tried to contact Ibis but this is really difficult, so it would be nice if they responded to this review.
I can't describe our anger at being left out on the street in a strange town at 8pm on a Friday evening, and not a very nice bit of town at that!
Ibis, you have not heard the last of this.

Great budget hotel!

Exceptionally friendly staff very chilled out. Understood my Sunday morning foot injuries allowed me to have breakfast with no footwear on. (You all are so friendly and I'm grateful)

Breakfast is gorgeous, You can make a bacon sandwich (perfect after a night of drinking and included)

You do miss the luxuries of a non budget hotel but for a night or 2 will be fine.

Plenty of takeaways close by and staff knowledgeable about the local area.

Parking very easy £9 on the private carpark for 24hrs very close to the hotel. (There is a height restriction)

Very local to the town centre for a night out.

Bed is comfy, breakfast is nice and simple.

Genuinely cheap and cheerful

Where do we start? It was such a terrible experience. The advertisement about parking is misleading; it's not free and costs £9. The lift was out of order, so we had to walk up to the 5th floor. The stairs, lift area, and room all had a bad odor. Overall, it was such a terrible experience—avoid this place!

Superb budget hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, comfortable with modern decor. The breakfast is a substantial continental buffet, no complaints. All round excellent value for money and in convenient location for both town centre and retail outlet.

I made a booking for a stay on the 16th September, when I arrived at the hotel there was a sign on the door to report to the Holiday Inn Express reception, when I did I was told that IBIS had cancelled my reservation 2 days before due to a block booking to accommodate refugees

I've no issue with the need to block book the hotel but I did not get informed my room had been cancelled until I arrived, I was then offered a room in the Holiday Inn Express for double the price and I have still haven't received a refund for my booking - shocking service

I've emailed but no response and Accor Hotels who own the IBIS aren't helping, they keep pointing me back to the Swindon hotel which is effectively closed

(Not just me, the same happened to a work colleague)
