Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So this was like staying in a motel. I could hear every creak and movement from the people that were above me and next door to me. I awoke to what I thought was someone trying to open my door one of the nights, but put it down to just hearing everything the neighbours did. Although it really uneased me.

The room and bathroom were very good size and there were tea making facilities although the kettle was far too large to fit into the sink so I had to fill it up with a cup, not the end of the world. The milk pots supplied must have been old as there was little bits floating in my tea and the mugs themselves were all stained/dirty. Kettle itself needs a clean or replacing as limescale was evident in the tea too. Waste bin bag had also been tied but not removed.

The room was very dated. There was a chair with a large stain on it. There was some sort of plaster or bandage underneath one of the twin beds. The mattresses were old and springy, like what you'd find in a hostel. The curtain was hanging off its rail so it didn't completely cover the window which was directly on street level looking out at the car park. I was placed into a disabled room (which is fine) however the shower itself had a mounted rail that was covered in what looked like yellow/green slime and the grout between the tiles was covered in black (presumably mould).

All in all a bit grim and would likely not come back to stay.

We booked last minute at 11am for 1.30pm on a sunday and said we were looking to come for a roast. Little disappointed when we got here to be told there was none left and we should pre order, which would have been helpful when booking. However the food and service was absolutely amazing and cannot fault the food or the price.

Known locally as "The Crown at Stratton" is a pub/travel inn aiming for the oldy worldy decor with reclaimed wood panels etc, however it's looking a little dark & jaded. We stopped here for late lunch. My wife a Southern Chicken wrap with chips which was OK apart from for some reason they chargrilled the tortilla wrap, which left it tasting like burnt bread. I opted for the Macaroni Cheese, with the chicken and Mushroom option. Unfortunately it wasn't like any Mac & Cheese I'd had before. In addition to the melted cheddar cheese topping it was filled with more Mozzarella than Macaroni plus the chicken and mushrooms. Sorry but it was all a bit too much for me.

I stayed for two weeks whilst on business. The price for a single room and double was the same, so they gave me a double taking into account how long I was staying with them. The room was nice and spacious, plenty of storage space. Everything seemed recently refurbished in the last few years.

The staff were very friendly and always willing to help: they made me a packed lunch instead of breakfast because I requested it, they let my girlfriend stay over for a weekend with no hassle at all. They even changed the wifi for me so I could have more bandwidth to do my online tutoring.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and comfortably furnished with everything you could need (basic toiletries, tea and coffee, TV and trouser press). Bed was firm and pillows were good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room rates are very good compared to other hotels in the area so it’s a great value option. I will happily stay again.

Horrible staff
It’s a nice pub but whoever owns the place seriously needs to sack the manager and bar staff. It used to be a great pub. Sadly no more. I won’t be returning.
A rude bar/ indifferent lady at the bar charging £4.50 for a double espresso.
No thanks

The room we stayed in was pretty grim!
The window had no catch so we couldn't open it unless we left it to swing in the wind.
The blind, once we pulled it down would not go back up and we had to attach the curtains to the hooks in order to pull them.
The bed was very uncomfortable
The bathroom had lots of ground in grime, scum around the bath, bottom of toilet bowl very brown.
The external door to the rooms was never locked when we entered, not very secure..
Sorry but we won't be returning

Bloody Brilliant Stay. This was the second time we have been here. Since last year it has been redecorated to a very high standard. Breakfast is spot on and tasty. Evening meals were delicious I had fish and chips which was really good as was the steak!
Lovely character pub and will definitely be back I’d give it 10/10 .

Great meal, reasonable price, good service.
Arrvied on a whim. Most tables were reserved but 'squeezed' us in.
Order was taken quickly. Menu had a good selection. Was a delay getting the food but it was worth the wait. Had the sizzlers and enjoyed every bite. Decent price.
Overall a good experience and will be coming back to sample the specials.

by all the positive reviews. Most of the staff were more interested in popping out for a fag than anything serving customers. The bar maid just about managed to stay on the polite side of surly and the food was awful. Perhaps we chose a bad night to go in.

When the waitress asked about my meal (I had left a lot of it), I told her it was poor. She spoke to the manageress who offered free drinks or dessert via the waitress. At no point did she talk to us or inquire about the problem. So, for the record; if the menu states "literally a pint of prawns", then it should be a pint, not three quarters, the prawns were small flavourless and soggy, they were so full of water you could suspect that they had just been defrosted under running water. The fish pie lacked seasoning and was dry and stodgey, there was plenty of fish however, a pinch of fresh parsley would have gone a long way. The vegetables accompanying were grey and boring, the broccoli should not have made it into the kitchen let alone onto the plate, the clue is in the colour, yellow is bad. There was an error with my order and it was sent back to the kitchen, I was dreading a grilled plaice being left under a hot light to dry out while some chips were cooked, but I needn't have worried as it came back cold. This allowed the grease on the leeks to congeal and the oily substence which may or may not have been hollandaise to turn into a puddle of gloop. The plaice was the smallest I have seen and should really have been allowed to play in the sea until it had reached maturity and developed some degree of flavour.

The beer was good, and the waitresses that served us were pleasant.
