Nestled near scenic nature walks and the sea, Arklow Bay Hotel is commended for its spotless cleanliness and an array of amenities including a leisure center and children's activities. While some guests feel the rooms could use an update and better soundproofing, many travelers find the hotel's location ideal, just a convenient journey from Dublin. The staff's friendliness and professionalism often receive high marks, though opinions are mixed on value and the atmosphere, with the bar's live music being a highlight for some.

Myself, sister and my two children (11&7)booked the family deal through the website. 2 night stay with a 3 course meal and trip to the cinema. The staff were all lovely, especially joanna on reception, she was very friendly and you felt like nothing was too much for her. The meal we had was excellent,I'd highly recommend the chicken wings. On looking at the menu it was expensive so the value that we got in the deal we booked was well worth it. The waitress Robyn that served us was lovely, she was friendly, attentive and very accommodating. The breakfast was nice, a bit frustrating going for one table to another especially regarding toast but that's with regulations in place, maybe when ordering tea or coffee you could order your toast too. The Manager greeted us for breakfast on the second morning and he was full of chat interacting with the kids, checking everybody had what they needed. The leisure centre was located just across the carpark, the kids really enjoyed the pool, with covid restrictions everything was run smoothly they provide you with towels there's only a certain amount of people in at a time so it's never packed. The pool was a bit cold though but we soon got use to it. The nature walk around the hotel is lovely and the decking overlooking the pond. The only criticism I'd have is the room we stayed in, first every room is supposed to have a seal on it to state that it's been cleaned and nobody else has entered since, we seen the stickers on the other doors, ours didn't have but the room wasn't dirty so I didn't have a big issue with this, it was however small now in ordinary circumstances pre covid you would just shower and sleep in your room but now your spending more time in it you do need some space and anyone with kids will know how much space kids take up or how they want to play with their toys on the floor etc. With 2 adults and 2 children I felt at times it was claustrophobic. There was also a big stain on one of the light shades beside the bed, not a big deal but it just didn't look great, the fold out bed only had a blanket on it and there was no extra pillows or blankets in the wardrobe which I think would be off benefit incase they were needed. We had to ask for extra toiletries as there was only 3 left in the bathroom and for 2 nights and 4 people it wasn't enough but joanna gave us more straight away so it wasn't an issue. It was a lovely little break away and the staff are a credit to the hotel.

Great location close to the sea and with a wildlife lake perfect for a 20~30 minute circular walk. There is also an outdoor garden with a coffee stall.

The rooms are on the small size, though not cramped. There is no air conditioning, so I would have appreciated there being a fan in the room. The bathroom was OK, but again without wow factor e.g. the shower was a fixed shower head over the bath with a shower curtain. There was a desk in the room with adjacent sockets, but poor lighting made it difficult to work in the evening.

The evening meal in the bar was served promptly and the food was attractively served. Breakfast offered a good choice with quality ingredients.

Overall, the best thing about the hotel is its location. With some thought, the average rooms could be transformed into something that fits the aspiration to be a four star hotel.

We stayed in the Arklow bay hotel recently we were unsure of what to expect with Covid 19 restrictions.
On arrival we noticed full hand sanitisation stations dotted around the hotel, the staff all wore masks even the fully vaccinated.
At dinner in the Bar area there was "lots of room to enjoy a drink and our meals too".
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, all the staff were so friendly and attentive to our needs as a family looking after drinks and all food was brought to our table.
Breakfast was fantastic too with everyone getting their food served up by the same server and plenty of food there was.
The pool was so relaxing and quiet although you do need to book slot for it aswell as dinner and breakfast. Our room was excellent with no cleaning during our stay extra towels, coffee ect can be ordered from reception.
I can honestly say that our stay was value for money and all the management and staff made our stay a memorable one.5 🌟

My family and I visited your hotel last week for 2 nights, and where covid safety and guidelines were in place and our room had a sticker on door to say it had been sanitised, the room was actually dirty. There were crisps under the side of the bed and cobwebs on the bedside lamps. The bath/shower had black mould on the grouting and their was a white sock in the back of the wardrobe.
One of the pillows in the bed was spiked as if it wasn’t washed. I wouldn’t let my children walk on the carpet in their bare feet.
It was as if the room hadn’t been cleaned since before lockdown.
We booked the restaurant for dinner both nights and where the food was very tasty, the service was appalling. We waited 5-6 minutes on our second evening there for someone to acknowledge us at the restaurant door, all the while a receptionist sat at her computer behind us oblivious that we were waiting to be seated in the restaurant.
We had a dreadful experience that second night as there were 3 males guests seated beside us using fowl language and being loud and obnoxious.
They were evidently drunk but we’re continuing to order drink and be served.
Every time a waitress came to their table, they were asking them to a party after work and the girls were spending far too long entertaining them.
Our dinner plates sat for 40 minutes after we had finished dinner without one person coming to our table yet I witnessed At least 3 different waitresses serve the boys beside us. I got extremely irate with this lack in customer services and my children waiting for their desserts that I
had to shout to a waitress to please consider clearing the plates from our table and getting my children’s ice-cream.
There was no manager present and no one seemed to have being giving order or direction to the waitresses and waiters.
I felt like I was staying at faulty towers.

On the second morning for breakfast the waitress sprayed the table for us with the jug of milk and condiments on the table which we then had to have replaced.
I understand that the restrictions are new to everyone and although I made allowances for this, the service was deplorable.

I didn’t make a compliant at the time as I didn’t want my children to be upset as this was part of their holiday for the summer, but if it had of been just the 2 of us there without the children I would have left straight away.
I won’t be recommending this hotel or retuning unless there are some serious changes made.

Recently stayed for 3 nights from the 16th of August with my family, sisters family and Mam in 3 separate rooms. We have all stayed here numerous times before and always liked the hotel but this time around we weren't happy. I would like to say that the staff are all lovely and very polite. We got room 417 and my sister 418, The rooms were like furnaces, so hot we couldn't sleep, we have a 9 month old baby and he was basically awake most of the night each night, we were given a fan but this made very little difference. We asked can we get a room change the morning after the first night and was told they will try but we never received this. We also talked to numerous other guests which had the same problem, one couple left early because of this and the American family from a few doors up said they would check out but then got another room. My sister got a room change to the first floor which was perfect but we never got offered this. On arrival we were told to request it if wanting a room clean, the morning after the second night we done this cause the baby got sick on the bed and we also needed supplies. After a day out in Courtown we arrived back about 6.45 to an uncleaned room, said this to reception and he politely said this was wrote down so dont know how it was forgotten and would send someone up soon, That was perfect as we were booked in for dinner at 7, arrived back at about 9 and the clearly visible dirty covers had been just made and not changed, room not hoovered, no fresh tea, toilet roll, bin bags, bottles of shampoo, shower gel or anything added. They simply placed 4 towels on the carpet and made the beds. I could go on with a few other issues regarding service in the restaurant( me been giving the wrong steak) and broken shade, tiles etc in the room but I probably noticed things more than usual as we had a very enjoyable stay. Unfortunately went for a nice relaxing break and came home way more tired than after a hard weeks work. Sad really and because of this we would not stay again in the future.

Stayed with my husband and 2 kids 4 & 6 booked a family room what we got was no bigger than a single room with a double bed a single bed and a fold up bed all squeezed into it. No heating on and the smell of damp was disgusting. Every morning we got up we were putting on damp clothes that was how bad the damp in the room was I had to wash every stitch of clothes in my suitcase when I got home. The room was so damp that even our swimming stuff wouldnt dry we were putting on wet swimsuits every evening even though they had 24 hours to dry out between swimming bookings. The shower in our room had no shower door or curtain and the whole bathroom would get flooded when showering had to waste loads of towels putting them all over the floors so the kids wouldnt slip in the bathroom. Breakfast during Covid is ridiculous table service only should be their policy. Making everybody queue for breakfast around tables that people are sitting at is breaking the Covid regulations. Dinner was ok but apparently the chef was too busy to do a fried egg for my son one night but could cook him a rasher.....And if you want to order a drink to your room at night you have to order a meal no where in the guidelines does it say if you are staying in your own room away from the public areas should you have to order a meal to your bedroom to get a drink.......... A lot of the staff dont wear masks and are going around with the visors the wrong way round on their heads. the swimming pool changing rooms are open and no one is sanitising the floors, lockers or seating areas between sessions. Very little cleaning in the lobby after people vacate it. It's my 2nd hotel break this summer and I certainly will not be going back to this hotel however I will definitely be going back to the 1st hotel we stayed in. Arklow Bay need to up their standards big time and update their rooms and shower facilities.

I would stay away with my job 2-3 nights every week and so as I was going to be in Arklow overnight , I thought that I would try the Arklow Bay Hotel.
On checking in , the young receptionist showed little interest in being pleasant or welcoming to an arriving guest and took a very long time to allocate my room and to issue my room key.
When I arrived at the restaurant at my pre booked time , I said hello to the waitress , giving her my name , time of booking and confirming a table for one .
Without looking at me she commenced to look through a list of names on a sheet and then asked me my name and time of booking which I had just given to her
She then asked for my room number and I queried why as I had to pay for my room on check in and was told that I couldn’t charge anything to my room but to pay for my dinner separately ( which I found odd )
I was eventually shown to a table and was given a menu and ordered a drink .
While looking over the menu which had a very limited choice , a drink was put down in front on me and a waiter said , there you are young man
As a 56 year old man with 2 grandchildren, I don’t particularly like being spoken to like that by a young man
I asked the waiter to repeat what he said and asked was he speaking to me
He tried to make a joke of it so I asked him his age , told him that I had a son his age and told him that was no way to address anyone , never mind a paying customer in a hotel restaurant.
After he left , I decided to leave the hotel and to find somewhere else for dinner which I did . A lovely bar in the centre of Arklow called Christy’s , where the food was excellent and the service from John the barman was friendly and very welcoming.
Arklow Bay Hotel , you seriously need to review how your staff are trained and teach then to value your customers , especially in these precarious times
Will never stay there again

Myself and sister booked the overnight pamper package which included 1 night B&B, 4 course dinner, and 2 mini treatments. We are so happy we decided to come here, check in is 3pm and we where there from 11am as we wanted to use the facilities before are treatments and as was available we where able to get our room early. Janet on reception greetest us with the warmest welcome, she explained in detail all the measures in place due to covid 19 and immediately put us at ease. Offered to help with our luggage and wished us a great day in the spa. The pool was lovely and dressing room regularly cleaned. The staff in the lounge and in pottery restaurant where so friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond for us. I can't wait to return! this was the best experience I had in a hotel in a very long time. Thank you to you all

Only stayed one night but bit disappointed with hotel overall compared to my last pre covid stay. No room sanitised sticker on the door queried with reception but they advised it was. Towels were provided for two instead of three. Covid 19 social distance entrance/exit all one not separate, sanitisers were plentiful just not working ...won't be rushing back in the current climate

Stayed here recently for 1 night, booked direct with Denise the reservations manager and I was not dissappointed, great rate for booking direct, dinner included and a lovely room over looking the bay, great staff on reception and great Covid 19 measures in place, very safe feeling in this hotel, cleanliness of rooms and public areas to a high standard, free parking on site.

The food for dinner was excellent, the crunchie cheesecake is the best I ever had. Great great service too by staff in the bar area and the breakfast buffet served to you was tasty too. Lovely staff also explaining how everything works.

One way systems in place also, loved our stay and would highly recommend for a couple of nights and also looks like a great place for a wedding..

A great feel about the hotel and what really makes this place stand out is that management are on the floor serving and helping the staff out and are very welcoming too. A little box of chocolates too in the room was much appreciated - this is an extra that was not expected and some rooms has a balcony too so we were lucky to get this.

Swimming pool was excellent my partner said and the staff there welcoming and friendly too.

Thanks to Denise and the team for looking after us. We will be back definitely and my partner is still raving about the food.

A well managed hotel. Thanks again.

No. about 2.5k. But the walk on a fine day is nice. Takes you through the town itself over the bridge and to the Hotel. I'd say 40/45min walk
