Just home from a lovely break in Co. Kerry. Really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Dinner in the candle lit dining room was delightful and food was great. Hotel is set in acres of farm and woodland and was so quiet and peaceful with only birdsong to be heard all round Room spacious and airy and very clean and tidy. Was a very memorable stay and we would definitely recommend it as a destination in itself, or if you are travelling in beautiful Co. Kerry and need a relaxing and restful place to stay. Fantastic.. what a romantic castle to stay in. Reasonable rate. Clean, neat and well maintained. No complaints. The staff was very helpful and very polite! Joe the lead man at the breakfast meal was exceptional! It’s close to many excursions in the area. You really should try it!
Our first major disappointment happened when arrived. Having assumed that our room was in the castle, we were informed that we were in the West Wing. This is a later extension to the Castle and although the rooms are large and nicely furnished they do not compare to the Castle bedrooms. The bathroom is large with a large walk in shower and the controls are exceptionally easy to operate, however the shampoo etc are obtained from a wall dispensers, the towels white but hard. Past their sale by date and should be replaced. Not 4 star quality! Nevertheless we had a good nights sleep. For breakfast the Irish Fry was excellent and we ordered more toast, which was brought to the table, but surprisingly this basket was placed on top of the existing basket, which still had two muffins in it! Needless to say the muffins were left untouched. Unfortunately our stay in the 4 star Exclusive Irish Luxury Castle did not live up to the high standard we had looked forward to.…
Our stay at the castle was spectacular. Made perfect by two of the most lovely hosts. Both Esther and Marta took excellent care of us. Their personalities are sparkling and their attention to detail is perfection. We are sad to be leaving!
We stayed 2 nights as part of our exploration of the Dingle Penninsula and Ring of Kerry. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this hotel. Our room was great, including a modernized bathroom. We tried both restaurants. I'd recommend doing the full 5 course dinner at O'Connell - a bit more expensive but it's worth it. That's not to say the other dining experience was poor, we enjoyed the outdoor dining with blankets and heaters to keep you warm as the night cooled off. The food was just a bit less impressive (but still very good). Breakfast was good - particularly the pancakes. We will be back on our next pass through the area.
