Travellers' Choice
The Arbutus is one of Killarney's true original hotels. Located in the town centre it is a historic, family run hotel -The Arbutus is best described as a Country House Manor in the heart of Killarney . Whilst small, it has the luxurious accommodation and service expected from a larger hotel, with the advantage of all the personal attention and discretion that a smaller property can offer. Location, service, knowledge and comfort. It is often described by guests as a home away from home. We look forward to the opportunity of making you feel at home

The arbutus is a great hotel that does what a hotel is suposed to do, make you feel welcome, give you a tasty filling meal, and a great night sleep. I was in the arbutus last week and I have to say the standards are truly top class. An Mhaith ar fad!!

Very quaint, cute hotel. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The attached bar was fun and the bartender, Tim was great. The free breakfast was nice and had lots of choices although the waitress was not very friendly. The hotel was in the heart of town and we were able to walk around. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Let me start by saying this hotel has wonderful friendly staff, the food is good but that’s where the positives end. This is absolutely not a four star hotel, it is three stars at a push, and the rates for what it is are far too high. It is old, dingy, stale and in need of a total refit from top to bottom. Our rooms were characterless, dingy and noisy. Our bed linen had holes in it, but to be fair the beds were comfy. The Wi-Fi simply does not work, even though it connects, but it does not work. The staircases are narrow and go off in weird directions, the carpets are probably prewar. The staff are all really lovely, they deserve a better environment to work in.

Very good outside/marquee dining area. Very nice flowers in the area. The staff were very pleasant. Wasn't asked how our food was. The roast of the day was very good. The steak sandwich was very average. The toilets in the bar were not the best.

I have had the pleasure of staying here a couple of times over the last few months and it is now a favorite of my my and I. You will be hard pressed to come across a warmer and friendlier bunch of people than at this hotel!. The reception team are exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for them and they set the tone for everyone else we met after check in. Cannot rave enough about the place or the people who work there. enough! We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and 4 of the nicest pints of Guinness I've ever had! I'd go back for the Guinness alone! We met Pat, the General Manager, a true gent and a fantastic host. Dinner was very tasty and we had it in the courtyard which was nice. and bright. Breakfast was up there with the Guinness!! Worth a trip for on its own right. Rooms on both occasions were large, clean (very), well lit, comfortable bed, good decent power shower. The hotels central location made it an ideal spot for exploring Killarney.. Pat and team thank you very much for your hospitality and we are looking forward to our next trip back to you.
