The Clayton Hotel Silver Springs is celebrated for its spotless environments and comfortable, spacious rooms, although there have been occasional grievances regarding room amenities and maintenance. Guests commend the hotel for its professional service and family-friendly amenities, and the food variety and quality often receive high praise. The atmosphere is particularly appreciated during special occasions, adding to the hotel's charm. However, issues with understaffing and the hotel's value proposition have been raised, with some travelers feeling the costs outweigh the benefits provided.

Stayed here while attending a Christmas concert at Cork Opera House. Location a big oug of the way but parking no problem and while there was a bus service we decided to use local taxi service (contactable from reception). Taxi fare into town €15 and returning was €13. Staff friendly and helpful, but we did ask for help with heating but no one arrived before we headed to the event in the city. Only other fault was while the hotel and room were by and large clean there was evidence of careless cleaning e.g. hair clip on floor. Breakfast the following morning was adequate but nothing to get excited about. Overall a very good stsy.

I’ve stayed at the Clayton Silver Springs a number of occasions over the past few years however never posted a review.

On this occasion I used the self-check in area left of the main reception it’s easy to use and bet the queue at reception (to note the FOH teams are very friendly and efficient) my room was very clean bed was comfy and had plenty of teas, coffees and toiletries my only fault is I was in room 603 the shower had zero pressure and tap was broken, noise from the lift was a down side but tolerable.

Unfortunately my experience at the bar wasn’t as good, I stood at the “please wait to be seated” sign for almost fifteen minutes while the one bar person looked at me waiting & wait staff walk past multiple times without even advising they would be with me in a moment! Eventually I asked one could I be seated (what’s the point of the sign?) bar is very understaffed so you will be waiting to be seated and served however food came swiftly. Personally I eat small quantities however portions are large and food was good also priced very well.

I was only at the hotel for one night a short visit however took advantage of not checking out till 12, Despite hanging the “please do not disturb” sign on my door I was awoken at 10am by the housekeeping team looking to clean the room (signs seem to be ignored in general).

Free parking is a bonus!

Last night myself and my son stayed the night at the Silver Springs Hotel in Cork, after attending a concert in Cork.

We didnt have dinner in the hotel, but the staff were friendly, bar was clean, service good.

We had a wheelchair accessible room and it was one of the few Ive stayed in that had a useable shower seat and large wheelchair accessible bathroom. The beds were able to be pushed apart to allow my wheelchair to go between the beds so I could get in and out of bed. Beds were very comfortable.

Breakfast in the morning had a lot of variety, was hot and staff only too willing to help as I could not carry my own plate.

Plugs right beside both beds meant I could charge my chair with no problem.

Good experience all round.

I stayed in the Clayton in December just after Christmas. The towels in the bathroom were obviously left there from the last guest they were covered in make up ( I hope it was make up ). There were cobwebs all over the room which left the rest of the cleanliness in doubt.
Our phone in the room didn’t work to call room service so I called from my mobile and was hung up on twice after they answered. Ended up going down to order. It arrived a half hour later and was cold and was then told I had to go back downstairs to pay.
It was hardly “room service”.
Emailed the hotel twice to give them the courtesy of a response before I posted this review as I can understand everyone has bad days but got no response from them, so clearly they do not care. Really disappointed. A simple reply from the hotel to say they received the feedback and will take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again would have satisfied me and I would have returned but it’s disappointing knowing feedback isn’t taken on board and management don’t care about cleanliness or customers experience. In the cost of living crisis we are having at the moment it’s not easy to spend €140 on one night in a hotel and have the experience we had.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you enjoy paying for dirty rooms and cold food.
Really disappointed.

Dear Neadie, I would like to start by thanking you for the time spent on writing a review for our property, I am sorry to read that your experience did not live up to your desired expectations. The Clayton Hotel Silver Springs management team really appreciates all feedback from our guests and we really find it helpful to take on-board real-time customer opinions regarding their stay. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. The location was great, it was close to Fota and to the city. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant.
The Wifi signal in our room wasn't great we couldn't stay connected and couldn't use the guest services webpage due to this.
We didn't have any room cleaning during the stay, there were no clean towels replaced, or our bins weren't emptied during our two night stay, even though there were cleaning staff on our floor, they were young and they seemed to be doing more messing and playing around the hallways than cleaning.
The hand soap dispenser and the shower gel dispenser were almost empty! This is not ideal especially in the middle of a pandemic when handwashing is vital. The toilet seat was also broken in our room and the door to the bathroom wasn't working properly.
The beds were clean and comfortable.
We dined in the hotel on the first night. The steak was very over done when it was requested medium rare and the chicken curry was cold and had very little meat in it. We had two starters and two mains and a kids meal and a drink each, this cost over 80e and to me the quality didn't reflect the price.
The breakfast the next morning was cold, the tea was cold and the coffee was weak.
We dined in Cork city the following night.
We used the swimming pool which was excellent, so clean but they didn't have a kids pool. It is up a very steep hill beside the hotel so it would be advised to drive to there.
It was 15e for a family pass and we got fresh towels at reception to use.
Overall we were dissapointed as had heard such great reviews about this hotel.

We booked into the family suite at the Silver springs for a 2 night stay. The room was large and clean and we were greeted by a very friendly lady at reception. We decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night. The food was reasonable but service was poor-waiting ages to be served, drinks order and desert orders being forgotten, however it was dealt with at the time by the manager who was most sympathetic and apologetic.
We returned to our room late on the 2nd night to find that it had not been serviced. No toilet paper, water, fresh towels, bins emptied etc. I went to reception and asked for some toilet paper at 10pm to be told that it would be an hour at least before anyone could drop some up and she couldn’t give it to me there and then because she did not know where it was stored!! We never received the toilet paper!
Surely room service is a basic in a hotel? Otherwise why would you not stay in an air bnb / self catering?
Breakfast was poor, possible the worst that I have had, would go room only and avoid if that was an option!
Leisure centre was an extra charge and a 5-10 min uphill walk from the hotel was spotless and very well maintained (think it’s independent!).

Where do I even start with this place?! Here’s a list of why I’d never stay or advise anybody else to stay here!

€607 for x3 nights with no complimentary breakfast of even the most basic kind!

Breakfast does however costs an additional €15 per adult and €6 per child. For that fee you get absolutely no table service at all and the worst slop to fill your plate with! Everything seemed like it was reheated leftovers or just not available anyway! The bacon oddly seemed boiled and bread stale!

No swimming pool on site, it is however a 10 minute walk away up a steep hill behind the hotel. You also have to pay extra to use it and pay for towels and swim caps at a cost of €15 for a family if 3, €2 per towel and €2.50 per swim cap. Oh and it has to be booked in advance if you are lucky enough to get a slot! The pool is ok but due to it having swim lanes and being in a busy leisure centre you are made to stay in the shallow end out of the way and its just a bit boring for families with young children.

The bar staff are none existent so be prepared to stand waiting for a while to get served if you walk in and want to get a drink. There was one poor guy who was extremely overloaded with drink orders from the restaurant and doing his best whilst the other staff just stood around watching him struggle instead of jumping behind the bar to help out or ask anybody else what they wanted.

Zero customer service from most of the staff and to be honest you get the impression that they don’t want to be there themselves!

First room we were given had a faulty bath/shower so we were upgraded to a family room. Bonus we thought, until we enter a very run down and dated room! Stained carpet, cracked ceilings, chipped bath enamel and grubby furniture to name just a few things!

The whole hotel could do with a major overhaul and clean. It just looks and feels very tired and rundown. Faulty towers springs to mind!

Good sized room with two queen beds. Beds were comfortable. Parking is free…yay! Quite surprised the room has no AC. A very basic desktop fan was provided but it was so noisy we had to turn it off. Wi-Fi speed is miserably slow, so I just used the cell network. No shampoo is provided for the shower, and the pump bottle of soap in the shower was hand soap, not body wash. So, overall, a pretty weak effort by Clayton and your money will be better spent elsewhere.
