I am in a wheelchair so liked the fact it's on the level however there is quite a big lip to get over at the main door, no problem for my Fiance to get Wheelchair over but some might struggle. Staff member opened the double door to assist.
Used the accessible toilet, which was extremely clean and in fact the tiles looked like they sparkled!
Large choice on menu and our starters cheesy garlic bread and garlic mushrooms] were served quickly and everything was fresh, including the side salads - no wilted lettuce for either of us.
Main meals [macaroni with chips and battered chicken coujons were just as nice.
All in all it was a lovely meal at very reasonable prices.

She was very clued up on the menu & advised us well on our choices. (Chicken enchiladas & creamy cajun chicken) She even apologised for the wait on our drinks....imo they weren't slow to arrive at all.
Now the food....that came out very quickly & was presented well. Big portions & the nicest hand-made chips we've had. I couldn't finish all of mines & the waitress brought out a fantastic wee reusable container to decant myleftovers in. I had them tonight & they tasted even better!
We will definitely be back again soon & once again have to mention the waitress who was just so lovely, definitely an asset to the place.

The tea and coffee facilities were good, and the Tunnocks tea cake and caramel bars a nice touch. As a family of 5 it's rare to find a hotel that accommodates us well, and we were able to have an interconnecting room with bunk beds, plus a single in with a double in the main room. The doors open by a key from the outside, but didn't have a locking mechanism from the inside, which made me a little uneasy for my younger children, so I blocked their door with a suitcase to prevent them being able to leave the room.
The room was a decent size, had good facilities, and I wouldn't have any issue staying a few days given the size of the room.
The breakfast really was the highlight of the stay. We booked directly though the hotels own website and booked a room with breakfast included.
The cereal selection was relatively limited, but the hot breakfast selection was excellent. My children all had pancakes, which were delicious and fluffy. They could choose a selection of toppings and were very happy. My husband paid the £3 supplement to upgrade to the large breakfast and all the components were tasty. I had the savoury French toast with bacon, and although they didn't have any maple syrup the waitress did bring me some golden syrup for with them.
So although the hotel was a little rough around the edges, we enjoyed our stay and it was perfectly located to visit Hill House.
All in all it was a very pleasant stay and I wouldn't hesitate to book it again.
It was quiet, too, which I really needed. You lose a bit of light in the rooms looking out on the fence (even numbers) but I didn't mind. It's a bit pricey, but honestly I didn't care. In the circumstances comfort and unpushy friendliness was what I needed.
It could do with a bit of a refurb, floor squeaks and windows not double glazed means there is a little road noise, but absolutely not complaining - for the price it is a gem of a place.
The evening menu provided a good/varied selection and service was impeccable. Similarly, great breakfast served by a lovely lady so compliments to all catering and restaurant staff.
Finally, the room/, bathroom were immaculate and the bed/pillows very comfortable so hats off to the housekeeping staff! I also enjoyed the complimentary teacake and caramel wafer biscuits which made a change from the usual shortbread.
