Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ghinda is a fairly new business venture for my hosts, Murdo & Jenny, too many members of the family kept on booking themselves in.
There are 2 very well behaved & friendly dogs, Mick & Neve.
Stornoway airport is about 30 mins away & the Ullapool - Stornoway Calmac ferry is about 20 mins away but Murdo & Jenny are willing do pick ups from these locations although it's unlikely you would come here without transport.
The bungalow is situated about 11 miles outside Stornoway on the road to the famous Callanish stones. The views are simply stunning, a loch at the bottom of the garden & mountains that change character depending where the sun is. Even a non adventurous person like me finds the vista just wonderful.
Plenty of room to park the car at the back of the house.
Guests get to enjoy a sort of small wing at one end of the bungalow with one double bedroom, one super king / twin bedroom, a huge bathroom with bath & separate shower + a fab lounge with squishy sofas & an open fire.
As I was the only person booked this week I was given sole use of the guest wing. Murdo & Jenny took the decision to only let their rooms to people travelling together & happy to share the bathroom, as I was here alone the other bedroom was not to be let out, so no sharing bathrooms - lucky me.
Whilst welcome to share the comfy leather sofas in the open plan kitchen I was also free to use the guest sitting room as this would be a World Cup & Wimbledon free zone!
Facilities here are on par & better than some hotels: towels, face cloths, bath robes, mini fridge in the wardrobe, hairdryer & a handy mirror inside wardrobe door. Loads of storage in the built in wardrobe & decent wooden hangers.
The tea tray is great & comes with a fun colourful Kenwood kettle, & kilner jars with tea bags, fruit tea, coffee, hot chocolate, dried milk (fresh milk available), sugar, sweeteners & yummy shortbread. The mugs are lovely with images of Lewis Chessmen on them & a decent size for an early morning cuppa or late night hot chocolate.
Ghinda B&B is in one of the many scenic places on this island & on the road to the famous Callanish standing stones & Carloway where Harris Tweed is made & sold.
I can hardly think of a better location, friendlier hosts & excellent accommodation than this lovely B&B.
On my last visit to the island I stayed in one of the hotels in town but Ghinda beats it hands down on so many counts.
An evening meal is available at a very reasonable charge, great if you have returned to the house after a day's sightseeing & can't be bothered to go out again - highly recommended.
Murdo cooks a mean breakfast & he was happy to accommodate my various dietary requirements, nothing was too much trouble. Thermos flask are on offer if guests want them, even golf clubs!
All in all anyone who could get booked in will be sure to enjoy their stay.

We had a great stay at the Ghinda. Jenny & Murdo are a lovely couple & their home is beautiful. They welcomed us on the 1st evening with hot drinks, delicious home baking & to my dads delight a rather large dram ! In the morning the breakfast selection was fantastic, everything you could want & more. That evening we got the same welcome & after a cold wet day sightseeing it was just what we needed. They also had the perfect balance of friendly chats & then leaving you time to yourself in the guest lounge. On our last morning they gave us the rest of the home baking to take away with us, fantastic. We will definitely go back when we go to the Heb festival in a year or so. Thanks again

Murdo and Jenny were the most delightful hosts when we (2 adults and a 5-year-old) stayed at Ghinda in August: friendly, generous and knowledgeable. They clearly love having guests in their home, and they make you feel completely welcome. (We spent most of the first day with them as the rain pelted down outside, lashed by an unseasonable gale!) Their home is quite modern and spacious. The guests have access to a beautiful, large living room with fabulous views a TV, and even a piano! The rooms have everything you will need and, like the rest of the house, are very well kept. The breakfasts were good and plentiful, and set us up for days spent exploring the lovely island of Lewis. The Callanish stones (just a couple of miles away) are spectacular and haunting, and the west coast of the island boasts some of the most gorgeous beaches and sea views you can wish for. It's a great location for getting to know the island: quite central, and easy to find. As we told Jenny and Murdo, we'll be back as soon as we have the time!

We cycled around Lewis and our last night on the island was amazing. Jenny and Murdo took great care of us. We were fed and watered and made to feel right at home. The room was perfect and Jenny cooks up a storm. Murdo's coffee definitely got us up the first couple of hills at speed (with a little help from a tail wind). We will visit them again when we go back. Would recommend them every time.

Having cycled around Lewis we couldn't have landed at a better spot. The house is in a stunning location overlooking a loch. Our hosts had a great attention to detail and made us feel instantly at home - great food, great conversation and a great sofa!! It was like being at home - highly recommend and I would return!

everything that all the other reviewers have said, Jenny and Murdo could not have looked after my mother and I better (warmth, delicious food, hot thermos and unexpected snack packs for the windy road!) and more than all that, it felt like being at home with old friends. Thanks J&M and everyone else, you can't get better than this for bnb. period.

Jenny and Murdo epitomise all that's best in Hebridean hospitality and we would return there without hesitation. Nice room with huge double bed - not 'private' bathroom as another reviewer has said though as there were no other guests, we did have the bathroom to ourselves. Great views, great food great chat, it's the best B&B I've been in for many years. Ghinda is not close to anywhere, but is on the main road (unlike what Google would have you believe), It's central to many of the main attractions of Lewis.

We stayed at the Ghinda B&B for one night during our 13 day tour through Scotland and from the very beginning, Jenny and Murdo were very welcoming and showed us around. We had a cosy double room with spectacular views and a very spacious private bathroom which was a big plus. There was also a guest lounge for our private use, with a TV as well as books and plenty of info material on the Isle of Lewis. Jenny and Murdo are exceptional hosts, they offered us whisky and drinks when we sat down in the lounge area for the evening and they also helped us with our plans for a very rainy next day. And the breakfast – what can I say! It was by far the best we had in Scotland. They made us a Full Scottish Breakfast, porridge, boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad and then there were also cereals, toast, croissants, pains aux chocolat, jams, cheese etc. Wow! They are just the loveliest and best hosts we could have wished for, nothing seemed too much trouble for them and they made us feel like home. We wish we had booked another night with them, but we will most certainly be coming back! Many thanks, B&T

This is a beautiful B&B with wonderful hosts - Murdo and Jenny were so kind and thoughtful, and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating - they really did look after our every need and more! The room and bathroom were spotless, there is a fabulous lounge for guests to use; they really have put so much attention to detail making it this B and B a real gem and a home from home. Breakfast was delicious and again, nothing is too much trouble. This really is a fabulous B and B which we will certainly be returning to.
