Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for 3 nights and we were blown away by how wonderful this place is.

The room is very private with its own entrance and has stunning views over Uig Sands and the mountains beyond. Kirsty did everything possible to make our stay a delight (Tony was away during our stay) and provided a wonderful continental breakfast every day and even brought us a beer and glass of wine on our first night as we'd arrived late in the afternoon. She also provided lots of help regarding local walks and places of interest.

If you like nature and wildlife this is the place for you. Otters, Eagles, wild deer and much more right on your doorstop as is Uig Sands restaurant, which is a must!

Overall, this was a real highlight of our short tour of Scotland.

A hidden gem in the most beautiful part of Lewis and our favourite place in the whole of the Western Isles. A place to unwind, to breathe and to recharge. Kirsty and Tony are a big part of this and amazing hosts, so genuinely warm and welcoming. We felt so at home with them and relaxed from the moment we arrived. This was our second stay. The room is the most beautiful room overlooking the bay and the mountains. We never tire of that view, the deer, the corncrake, the light, the tides, the birds, the mountains. Kirsty provides a fantastic breakfast very much around your preferences and sitting eating it looking out at the view was a highlight each day. Beautiful walks, exploring hidden beaches, appreciating the gorgeous island was just what we both needed. We will of course visit again. And again. Both to explore some more and to feel we are home from home with Kirsty and Tony. Some people overlook Lewis. More fool them. This is without doubt our favourite place.

A beautiful location with our spaciis room overlooking Uig Sands through a large picture window. Tony & Kirsty were consummate hosts, very friendly & extremely knowledgable about the area. They also made great recommendations on where to visit throughout the whole island. Our room was very comfortable with a stocked fridge, toaster & tea making facilities. Every morning breakfast was left outside in a hamper basket & they noted what we did & didn't like & adjusted each day 😊

Thank you to both Kirsty and Tony for letting us share their home.
The room was very large ,clean, with a wonderful bed.The large picture window meant you could lay in bed and look out over Uig Sands.
Breakfast was continental style, left fresh every morning in a picnic basket outside your room.A fridge in the room meant you keep could keep milk, cheese, cold meat etc fresh at all times.
A truly great area to stay with lovely host's and first class accomadation.

Fortunately booked longest B & B stay, 3 nights, here on our Scotland/Hebridean road trip. and so glad we did. Stunning views and position of the property overlooking the bay, what a special island. Big breakfast hampers each morning, full of a wide range of goodies, far too much to eat it all! But most of all we loved how engaged Kirsty and Tony are in their guests. No quick passing chats at this B & B, they go out of their way to connect with you and tell you about life on the island & places to go and that's why we love staying at B & Bs. We weren't blessed with wonderful weather, but hey ho, can't have everything. And a mention too of the wonderful selection of books in an enormous bookcase in your room.

So relaxing we slept through all our alarms!
A lovely welcome from Tony, Kirsty and Maudie with a few pre arrival tips which were very helpful.
The view out of the bedroom is absolutely unbeatable - we kept the curtains open as long as possible. The kayaks were also a great hit, followed by a nice warm bath.
Great amenities and lots of books - would have loved to have stayed longer but have to save something for our next visit!
Breakfast was fantastic & I love the crockery.
Thank you so much!

I do want to start out by clarifying something . In the states a B&B usually means one is staying in more of a small inn or hotel. NOT so in Scotland. It means literally a Bed and Breakfast in a family home. Now, that being said...... My sister and I spent a few days here in early May. It was delightful !!!!
My sister, being the Birthday Girl got the large front room that has a spectacular view and a sweet jacuzzi tub. My room was the smaller double with two twin beds. The smaller double room is nicely furnished and is comfortable but not spacious so you need to on good terms with your travel mate :-) The bathroom has an excellent large tub and plenty of hot water. The only down side of the double room is that it is at the end of the hallway so one is exposed to the goings on of the family and one has less privacy. The front room gives one a felling of being in a separate wing of the house . both rooms have a wonderful selection of books to read and games for playing. There is also a kettle and variety of teas and some sweets .
The BEST part of our stay was the Wade family. We were met by Megan who is one of the most remarkable 12 yr olds we have ever met. She is engaging and personable and while seems mature for her age still has a wonderfully silly sense of humor ( window smiley face )The other children, Alex and Rachel were also a pleasure to meet and talk with. Kirsty was a great help in getting us settled in , arranging dinner reservations one night and makes a wonderful breakfast. Last and certainly never least is Tony who made us feel like we were visiting family . He made us a wonderful CD to play while we drove around the island, trusted my driving enough to lend us his daughter Megan as a tour guide and wellies to keep our feet dry on our adventure. He was also accommodating to our need to change plans . I was very impressed with the accommodations, but even more so with this delightful family who welcomed us so warmly.
This part of the island is stunning , actually all of the island is pretty stunning. The only suggestion is to make sure you have reservations for dinner if you want to stick close to home or to get snacks in for dinner as there is not a wide variety of accommodations.
I do also want to mention that if one is a timid driver, the roads can be quiet daunting and forbidding but after a day or two , one can get more comfortable with them.
I do hope to return next year and do more walking and exploring and hope to stay with the Wades again - if they will let me back in the door :-)
Thank you for a wonderful stay .

It's hard to add anything more to the other fabulous reviews about this gem of a B&B overlooking Uig bay on west coast Lewis. Tony and Kirsty could not have been more welcoming and were happy to provide loads of local insights on what to do/where to go. The house is set on a stunning headland looking out over Uig Bay and the rooms very much more than your average B&B set up with a cupboard stocked full of guides, books, games, kettle, teas and coffees. There's also a fridge for keeping a cheeky beer/bottle of wine chilled ahead of days out. Beautifully set room with local harris tweed furnishings a really lovely touch. Brilliant location for an overwhelming range of beaches and hills to be explored in one of the best parts of Lewis. We will return for sure!

My second stay at Suainaval, eleven years after the first, was just as pleasant. I was treated more as a family friend than a paying guest, and everything was done by the hosts to make the stay enjoyable. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the breakfast superb and the welcoming pot of tea was much appreciated. The location of the property in the remote Uig district of West Lewis, provides amazing views of the hills, sand and sea from both bedrooms and the breakfast table. My stay was blessed with very good weather which enabled me to maximise the enjoyment of such a beautiful area. The room contained tea making facilities and also lots of information on the area and places to visit. Thanks to Kirsty, Tony and family for a memorable three night stay.

As soon as you arrive at Suainaval you become part of the family. Kirsty and Tony (not forgetting Megan) make one feel really at home. This therefore is not the sort of place if you prefer the impersonal formal approach. As far as the practicalities are concerned the front room has the most fabulous view over Uig sands and is spacious and comfortable. (An extra easy chair would make it perfect!). The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath with shower taps which is fine although not ideal if you prefer a shower. As both Kirsty and Tony have other jobs breakfast is usually served between 8 and 8.15 depending on whether you want a continental or full (very full!) Scottish breakfast. The latter will certainly set you up for a day exploring the delights of the Uig area. This is without doubt the finest part of Lewis and maybe the whole of the Western Isles.

One slight difficulty about the Uig area is the limited number of eating places: at this time of year only two were available - a cafe some distance away on the Garynahine road and the nearer Auberge Carnish. However you could always devise a picnic evening meal from the extremely well stocked community shop in "downtown" UIg. Yes Suainaval is a great place to stay in a lovely area with exceptionally welcoming hosts.
