The Atholl Arms Hotel delights guests with its warm and traditional atmosphere, including cozy rooms adorned with log fires and a baronial dining room that offers a charming experience. However, some travelers have expressed concerns over the value, pointing out overpriced food and additional fees that detract from the overall satisfaction. Service at the hotel is generally appreciated for its friendliness, although there have been mentions of occasional unapologetic staff and pet restrictions.
The hotel's cleanliness receives praise, but there are suggestions for bathroom updates. While many enjoy the amenities, critiques of the breakfast offerings and room maintenance have surfaced.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but had a few nice glasses of wine and good pints of Guinness in the lovely beer garden with our dog. The bar staff in the Bothy bar were friendly and the food was reasonably priced ( I thoroughly enjoyed the steak pie! 😋)

I would like to thank the staff at the Atholl Arms for making our overnight stay so enjoyable. My husband and I along with 2 other couples stayed overnight on an Itison deal which included breakfast and a cream tea with a bottle of Prosecco per couple. From checking in to checking out nothing was too much trouble. We were received with a warm welcome and our delicious cream tea, along with one bottle of Prosecco, was beautifully served in the lounge with the other two bottles being saved for our meal in the bar later. Yet again the staff ( wish I’d got everyone’s name so I could give them a personal mention) were most helpful in reserving a table in the best location in the bar for our size of party. The meals served up in the bar were well presented and equally delicious. Thank you to the ever patient always smiling waitress and helpful bar staff. An excellent breakfast was efficiently served to us in the magnificent baronial dining room by two extremely pleasant waitresses. Our rooms were clean and perfectly adequate. I would have given 5 stars but, unfortunately, the shower, though new, wasn’t working properly with the water going from boiling to freezing every 5 seconds. However, when we reported it on checking out our only complaint was handled well. Thanks again to the Blair Atholl staff for making our stay one to remember for all the right reasons!

It is not cheap, but comfortable, dog-friendly rooms, and all staff were helpful and friendly. We ate in the Bothy Bar - the soup was particularly good and most food was fine. Breakfast was good - freshly made with a fair amount of smoked salmon with the scrambled eggs.

We went with a couple of friends for a Winter break because the hotel always has great offers at this time of the year. The hotel is traditionally Scottish, in a quiet location in Blair Atholl, and it's a great base for exploring. It is cosy and welcoming, staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the food is great. We ate in The Bothy Bar (attached to the hotel) most nights where the food is high quality and value for money. They also serve local ales from the Moulin Brewery in Pitlochry. The hotel is family run and has a small staff, all of whom made us feel really welcome. For this, our thanks to, Caroline, Clara, Jennifer and Madge (in the hotel) and to Kyle, Solly and Eve (in The Bothy Bar). I'd highly recommend The Atholl Arms hotel and we will definitely be back.

Spent the night on 16th March with family. I can honestly say from check in to check out the hotel is first class. We had our dog with us who was made very welcome. Food was fabulous and the bothy bar is the most comfortable relaxing and friendly spot. The staff are so nice and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing and I was able to take one breakfast into the bedroom so my partner could watch the dog. Again above and beyond with the service. To top it all I forgot my phone but one call to reception and they found it in the bedroom and it was waiting for me when I got back. Honestly will be back regularly.

Worst sleep we ever had in a hotel. We could actually hear people in the next room turn the light on and off.
Location is great and the facilities are well kept.
Everyone we met at reception is borderline rude.
Hotel is dog friendly but won’t allow them in dinning area which means our dog had to stay in the car while we had breakfast although they charged us an extra £15 for the dog.

I don’t know where start! We checked in about 3pm with a lady receptionist who by all accounts obviously hates her job and didn’t want to be there . She gave us our keys and said the room number. That was all the conversation we were getting.I asked where breakfast was and she said next door I said do we go through the building or is it outside she said next door! I then asked if we could book for a meal she said no you can’t book you just turn up. Which by the way wasn’t true and we did book in the end with the bar staff and just as well we did as there was only 1 table left. She Really didn’t want to help us in any way at all. We then went up to the third floor to our room! It was tiny with a sloped ceiling on one side of the bed where you have to duck to get in. The curtains didn’t close fully because they Were too small and the bed well the bed! It was old creaky and you rolled into the middle of the mattress which you felt every spring . Worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The kettle could only be used by plugging it in on the floor under the tv. As for the noise there is no soundproof and as I do appreciate an older building this takes the biscuit. The guests next to me might as well of been in the same room . The couple across had a dog and if you got up to use the loo the dog barked! Not the dogs fault he obviously felt we were in the same room! The guy to the side of us obviously had a better bed because he snored and snored all night . By 6am I had to get up and go out for fresh air and as I got into reception area it was pitch black no lights on no one around . Overall £240 for two nights is an absolute rip off, it’s no better than a cheap B&B .

The Hotel is beautiful: quintessentially Scottish - traditional furniture and tartan themed rooms. Although very grand it provides a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere from the friendly and helpful staff on Reception to the Restaurant staff. We stayed in Room 102 - a superior room with four poster bed and large corner jacuzzi. It also had a separate shower. It was spacious, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The room had two large windows with a third in the ensuite bathroom which, for open air fans like us, was perfect. For us, the £20 supplement for the superior room was definitely worth spending. Breakfast offered a good selection from traditional full Scottish breakfast to kippers and Egg Benedict. Everything was served hot and delicious. The hotel offers good parking. We also loved that it was so close to Blair Athol Castle which with its extensive grounds offered good walking - great for dog owners like us. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again in the future.

We stayed for 2 nights on a dinner b and b deal. We have visited this hotel a few times before and so chose this as our first trip since "lockdown" as we feel comfortable there. We were impressed and reassured with the safety measures in place. The staff were wearing face masks or visors. There was lots of hand sanitiser available in various locations and a 1 way system in the bar and restaurant. The restaurant is large so there was plenty of room for guests to be spaced out with table service and 2 sittings for breakfast. Food was excellent as always. The stag table cloths were in keeping with the hotel decor yet practical (plastic which can be cleaned) without feeling like a hospital canteen. At the same time the safety measures did not feel too stifling nor did they take away from a relaxing stay. The staff were all friendly and we felt for them having to get used to the hospitality industry in such strange times. The welcome back balloons were a nice touch. We would happily have stayed for longer.

Good Morning. Thank you for choosing us as your post lockdown staycation! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. It has been hard finding a balance between making the venue as safe as possible for both employees and customers whilst also trying to give the customers a lovely experience and confidence in being away however, we do feel like we've got into the swing of things now! We hope to welcome you back soon!

Some good, some bad but overall we don't feel the hotel justifies the advertised rates & had we not been part of a tour, I wouldn't have felt we got value for money.
We appreciate Covid is, an emotive subject but we felt very unwelcome.
My view is they perhaps should remain shut until they are ready to embrace guests in a more friendly way.
We know laws exist but some of their own implementations are unclear & they get agitated when you don't adhere, mainly due to uncertainty.
That said there are some positives so let's recognise them 1st.
1. Very good food 2. Nice, comprehensively stocked bar 3. Two individuals in particular worthy of praise as they are pleasant and cannot do enough for you. Sadly staff don't wear badges so don't know names but the smallish, older lady with white/blond curly hair and the young lady serving & organising breakfast with brown hair in a bun. Both exceptional.
Sadly some other staff, including what appeared to be senior staff/managers were abrupt & certainly didn't appreciate being challenged on anything choosing to argue with guests rather than address the issues! A few in our party likened it to faulty towers & I can see why.
The rooms are very tired as are furnishings and the bed valance should be chucked away!
WiFi is really poor as is the TV reception, free view with a poor signal so it keeps freezing momentarily.
So not the worst place I've stayed, but I wouldn't go back as in our opinion it's not worth their rates.
