Fonab Castle is a wonderful and historic building on the banks of Loch Faskally, by Pitlochry. It has been transformed by the Clark family into a fabulous and glamorous new 5 Star hotel. The hotel offers 42 bedrooms, including 4 suites and a luxurious Penthouse suite (a number with loch views). The hotel brasserie and lounge provide outstanding vistas of the loch itself and Sandemans, our fine dining restaurant, is a tranquil setting for experiencing exquisite cuisine and fine wines. The Woodland Spa at Fonab offers a host of pampering and relaxation experiences, with Thermal Suite, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, treatment rooms, nail bar and pedicures. We look forward to welcoming you to a unique experience.”

We normally have a 2 day splurge at this time of year, (Gleneagles, Cameron House, Cromlix) so decided to give Fonab Castle a try, boy are we glad we did.
We stayed in a Loch View Lodge which was beautiful, large and very warm(so warm that we had to switch Heating off on second n

Stayed for two nights at hotel for my birthday. From arriving at the hotel to leaving today, we loved every minute. Arriving at the hotel and being welcomed by Mike in the car park (we thought he was coming to say we couldn’t park where we did), and he insisted on taking our ba

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional - the warmest welcome was provided.

Our room was one of the large cabins facing the river. An enormous bed featured, lots of space to relax in the room. The decor may not be to some peoples liking; it bordered on the right

On a Monday, will the bar be over crowded due to the restaurant being closed. Will I get a reasonable meal on a Monday?
The bar is large, so you should have attentive service, the restaurant is open on a Monday, just not the specialist one, enjoy the service, but the rooms are truly terrible

Hi, I am trying to figure out how loch view rooms do not mean you can see the loch from your room? I would assume loch view rooms means you have a view of teh lakes. If not, tehn what does it mean- did you stay in the hotel or the lodge? Thanks, Shikha
All room categories with Loch View in the room name description offer views from the window of Loch Faskally. You can choose from Loch View rooms on either the ground floor or from the first floor rooms which offer a balcony. We also have 2 Castle Signature Rooms which overlook the Loch, The Penthouse or our Loch View Lodge rooms. I do hope this helps.

Hi. My husband and I are planning a visit to Fonab for my 40th next August and are so torn between rooms. We are chosing between a loch view room and a superior woodland room, what do you think is the nicer room? We would like a nice room and a separate bath in bathroom. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks x
Hi Strumore. Thank you for your question. The main difference between the two room you are considering is the view. The superior woodland room is located in one of our new lodges which launched in June of this year. The Loch View rooms have fabulous views over Loch Faskally. Both of these room categories offer power showers. For separate bath, you would need to book one of our loch view lodge rooms or some of the Castle Signature rooms offer a bath. Please request this at the time of booking. Hope this has helped.

Apologies for the delay in responding to your comments. We have taken your comments on board and have introduced some further vegetarian options for our guests. Our kitchen is always on hand to create a dish for you to enjoy. Please ask your server for any recommendations if the menu is not to your tastes.
