Fisher's Hotel offers a prime central location in Pitlochry, appreciated by guests for its proximity to local attractions and easy access to transport links. While the rooms are considered spacious and comfortable, some visitors have expressed concerns over outdated furnishings, noise levels, and maintenance shortfalls. The hotel's cleanliness is generally commended, although certain areas show signs of wear. Patrons enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and live entertainment, but opinions on value are mixed, with criticisms focusing on high costs for dining and parking. The service receives accolades for staff friendliness, but efficiency at peak times can be lacking. Amenities provide comfort and a good breakfast selection, yet some aspects, such as shower quality, leave room for improvement.

Fisher Hotel is located on the main street Pitlochry.
We stayed for four nights at the Hogmanay and New Year’s festivities which were excellent.
Parking is a problem, the hotel has limited spaces at the rear with a first come first served policy, if you leave the car park there is no guarantee of a returning space. The hotel charges £5 per night, must be booked at reception, if not,you will be issued with a parking fine. As we were on a special four day package we got free parking. There’s also a free parking lay-by outside the hotel limited to about five vehicles. On street parking is limited to 30 minutes. There is a council car park ten minutes walk from the hotel, 8am to 6pm you pay. Disability blue badge holders are free and you can park free overnight for cars. Please check display signs.
The room we had was spacious with a super king size bed, felt larger. Large TV with lots of channels. Bathrobes and slippers supplied, tea/coffee and a separate coffee machine. No fridge or mini bar a bit of a disappointment. Room was clean and well laid out with rear garden views. No electronic door entry cards only an old Yale lock. Now! This was the worst shower we have ever had the misfortune of using in a hotel, terrible pressure, bad marks to the hotel.
Staff were polite and chatty, but the bar prices in the hotel and Coach House were pricey, two alcoholic drinks were costing on average £15. On the positive side the food was excellent, but breakfast was a bit disappointing for me as you couldn’t get poached or boiled eggs, mushrooms were the large type with no variation.Plenty of continental style with lots of cereal choices. The hotel gets a lot of repeat visitors as people love the Pitlochry street dancing on New Year’s Day.
Would we return?
£1,680. for a special four night treat at £420 per night and pricy bar prices. Conclusion is No we wouldn’t return, don’t think it was value for money.

Dear guest, Your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at Fisher's Hotel is greatly appreciated. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our prime location, the Hogmanay and New Year’s festivities, and the overall comfort of your room. The ease of accessibility to various attractions in Pitlochry is one of the many features that our guests appreciate about our hotel. We booked the murder mystery deal with an overnight stay, 3 course dinner and breakfast via Itison.

Our arrival drink was supposed to be a whisky, sherry or brandy but the only options given were a whisky and a gin liquor - we had one of each and they were barely drinkable.

The hotel itself is a bit dated in areas; it seems like upgrades have been very gradual and not consistent throughout. Some areas were old fashioned, oil paintings and tartan (lovely) but in the next corridor it was fake purple plants and bright colourful canvasses that didn’t match anything. Mismatched furniture everywhere and some repair work needed in areas - my bar seat had spills all over the fabric.

We then ordered wine which wasn’t cheap but wasn’t quality either. Later we paid for the most expensive bottle on the menu (Rioja, £40) and it was average.

Room was lovely with smart tv and new bathroom, comfy clean bed. Can’t complain there.

Staff were also very friendly and helpful at all times.

However, the murder mystery experience was pretty rough. On arrival we got a glass of Prosecco included which was fine. We were situated in the ballroom - see below - and put on tables of 8 with strangers which we were not prepared for. Everyone was nice, but it was valentines weekend and we had thought it would be normal tables of 2 or 4. There was no mention of this seating arrangement in the deal details else we would have booked something else.

The ballroom itself has the strangest decor I’ve seen. Baby blue/gold walls were classy, but paired with a red patterned carpet and red chairs and paper tablecloths? Bizarre. There was also a giant water stain on the ceiling and halfway through the event, the kitchen door broke creating a big distraction. There was even a random reindeer Christmas decoration still on the wall.

Onto the entertainment. Pretty awful and cringey, although we made the most of it. The actors were nice and it was a laugh for the most part but the overall feel was tacky, not helped by the Wild West theme, and the costumes looked like they’d come from a kids’ dress up box. There was a lot of shouting and forced audience interaction where people had to stand up and read things out. My partner is heavily dyslexic so he was really worried but luckily he wasn’t picked on.

The dinner was tasty, but the presentation was awful and definitely not what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. It looked like it had been thrown on the plate.

We slept well although it was very warm in the early hours of the morning.

Breakfast buffet was very good with a great selection of cooked breakfast, meats, cheese, pastries, breads and cereals. However again we were made to sit on the communal tables in the ballroom instead of the main restaurant which was disappointing.

Overall, I wouldn’t come back but we made the most of it and as I mentioned, the staff were very friendly. I am really surprised this is listed as a 4-star hotel as I would say it’s more 3 for the UK, and is in real need of a refurb in areas.

Dear Guest, Thank you for providing such a comprehensive account of your stay at Fisher's Hotel. Feedback such as yours is valuable to us, as it allows us to understand our guests' experiences in detail. It's pleasing to know you appreciated our friendly staff and your comfortable room with its smart TV and new bathroom. We always strive to ensure our guests feel welcome and comfortable throughout their stay. Your positive remarks about our breakfast buffet are also heartening; we take pride in providing a variety of options to suit different tastes. However, it is disappointing to hear that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand that the decor in certain parts of the hotel, including the ballroom, did not resonate with you. While we always aim to provide an environment that captures a unique blend of old and new, we acknowledge that aesthetics are subjective and can differ greatly among our guests. Regarding the Murder Mystery deal, we are sorry if it didn't deliver the experience you anticipated. We make every effort to create a fun and engaging evening, but we understand that the style of this event may not suit all tastes. We also appreciate your feedback about the seating arrangements and will take this into consideration. We're sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our wine selection and the presentation of our dinner. We strive to offer a range of quality options, from our beverages to our meals, and your comments will be taken into account. While we are saddened to learn that you wouldn't choose to return, we appreciate your honest feedback. It is through comments like yours that we can strive for improvement and continue to refine our guest experience. Best Regards, Brian Wishart General Manager Fisher's Hotel

I have given three stars. One is for location, right in the middle of the high street with cafés and a few shops on hand. The second is for the staff who were all lovely, really helpful. The third is for the single room, good size, three quarter bed, fantastic shower pressure, window that actually opened, proper hangers in the wardrobe that could be used without fighting the stupid clip in system. Lots of storage and tea coffee and biscuits replaced daily.
The further two stars should have been for restaurant and food. Unfortunately these were horrendous. I was part of an 'elite' coach tour with 23 guests. Yes, we are all of a certain age, (that's why we can do a week away as retirees!) but these are not cheap trips by any means, and we expect to be treated as usual guests. Unfortunately that was not the case. We were herded into a back room with canteen style tables. Told the meal times (no choice) and had to sit at tables of six or more. So no chance of a relaxed meal with the friend you are with. The menu for us was a choice of three starters, three mains and three deserts. The vegetarian choice was only one each of those. I am not vegetarian but only eat certain meats. Every night the vegetarian starter was soup, mine was cold on night one so I sent it back. Out of four nights it was soup four times, gnocchi twice, turkey roll twice, fish twice, Caesar salad, as a main?? (this was a mound of lettuce with a dressing, two small chunks of cold fried brie and half a boiled egg,) an inedible chunk of shoe leather once, which I was offered another piece but declined . The breakfast buffet was dreadful, sliced bread for the toaster but no other bread, no rolls or fresh loaves, no croissants unless you want the ones that were one inch long. Very basic cereal, luke warm porrige (when there was some left) but no sultanas, cranberries etc to enhance it. By contrast, the 'normal' guests had a very nice restaurant with small tables for two or four, fantastic menu and choice of meal times. We were treated as second class citizens and that is wrong. If the hotel was full with ' normal guests then I am sure they would have been accomdated in the restaurant and had the proper menu, so it's not the number of people, but it's easier to treat some people as a herd because they will just be grateful, as 'old' people are! If places like the Warner hotels can get it right, plus some hotels we have used, then why do some places, like this one, make us feel we are a nuisance?

Booked Murder Mystery night. Fawlty Towers was the theme. First of all the price £169 for 2 people, drink upon checking in, bedroom, breakfast, welcome fizz for mystery night and 3 course meal. Amazing value!
We arrived early, wanting to dump cases and have a walk about. We were allocated room 67 on ground floor. Lovely refurbished room. So spacious, comfy beds and nice chairs to admire the garden view and near ballroom for night time.
We had a walk about Pitlochry then headed to coach house bar and had a few cocktails! 2 for £15 bargain.
Went to Ballroom for 6.30pm for Murder Mystery night. Glass of fizz on arrival. We were table 2. What a lovely group of people we had at the table. We got to pick our starter. I had Ham Hock Terrine. Mains, I had the blade of beef with bourginon sauce the tarte tartin to finish. Omg the food was soooo good! The show runs between courses and after meal. Loved the actors, so funny! We had bought raffle tickets between 2 of us. I won 2 course dinner at Coach House. Hubby won bottle of Whyte & Mackay whisky. I also won a bottle of gin but asked them to put my ticket back in.
We were at Murder Mystery in April 2024 and loved it. This Fawlty Towers show with just 4 actors was hilarious! Went to Coach House afterwards where there was a brilliant band playing, stayed for couple then hit the hay. After a great night's sleep up and ready for breakfast again served in ballroom. It was buffet breakfast and there was soooo much to choose from. I had meat, cheese and melon then a full cooked breakfast with apple juice and a latte.
The staff at Fisher's is what makes it a brilliant stay! We cannot wait to book another stay. Thank you to you all including Mystery Night actors

Jus had a 2 night break at the fishers hotel in Pitlochry. Firstly it’s centrally located for the train station jus a few mins walk away with regular services from Glasgow queen street. It’s located in the centre of the high street so convenient for local shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is very old fashioned but very clean and the rooms are comfortable with everything you need for a short break including tea and coffee and an iron. The plumbing is extremely noisy especially at night if another guest runs the taps or flushes the toilet it’s very loud.
We had breakfast both mornings which was ok not outstanding but edible, I’ve had both better and worse in uk hotels. We had dinner the first night as part of our package however if we stayed again I wouldn’t bother very limited menu ordered pork loin for a main was more like gammon steak and the worst pana cotta I’ve ever had for desert. For £30 for a 3 course meal we were very disappointed in the food. 2nd night we ate out at fern cottage restaurant the food was fantastic and only £24.95 for 2 courses or £27.95 for 3 value was outstanding. Everything was seasonal and freshly prepared I would definitely recommend they also had a better cheaper menu than the majority of the restaurants in the town which all sold the same steak and ale pie or battered fish and chips are overly inflated prices. I would stay at the fishers again due to location but would dine there next time.

My husband and I stayed with the rest of our family in July 2023. From check in the experience was seamless, the reception staff were lovely and knowledgeable. We were early so they took our luggage and stored until our room was ready and we were offered a complimentary drink, can be alcoholic or non alcoholic. Our room was a good size, clean and had everything we needed, I especially loved the fact we had plugs with USB ports on both sides of the bed and also a fan in our room. We had a lovely view and the bed were comfortable. I used the shower and it was incredible, proper power shower. We ate out at a restaurant the night we stayed but we had the breakfast at the hotel. It was really tasty, they had a hot or cold breakfast including the likes of cereal, fruits etc overall I would highly recommend a stay at Fishers Hotel, you won’t be disappointed.

Stayed here for a one night break away Having read other reviews that mentioned parking we aimed to arrive around check out time 11am. We arrived about 1pm there were a few spaces left so parked up fine. Went into hotel to get parking permit and staff at reception allowed us to check in although check in not till 4pm . We were advised our room would be ready around 3.30. Location right in heart of Pitlochry is superb. Our room 216 overlooked the rear gardens was huge with 2 double beds. Very clean, decor a bit dated. Bathroom again clean but small and only a shower no bath. Room was quiet and comfortable had and as well as the 2 very comfortable double beds had a settee, 2 chairs located in the bay window area of the room and large screen tv and could access the likes of Netflix and prime video. Free WiFi throughout hotel and rooms. There is a lift although small. Hotel was busy as had a group for a murder mystery weekend also live band playing in the adjoining pub the coach house. Although busy rooms were quiet and staff attentive and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style with a large selection of hot foods as well as the usual cold selections. Overall had a great stay, hotel throughout is dated but service and location makes up for that. There was a note in the room saying that they are starting to upgrade the decor etc. I would recommend if you want to be central. Bus stops right outside, train station can be accessed at the back of the car park and shops etc on door step.

At over £100 a night I expected better during our 3 night stay. The room was basic, communal areas tired and restaurant decor tacky. Advertised fluffy pillows but we had 4 day old pancakes.

I'd requested a room with a bath so you'd think they would have made sure everything in the bathroom was actually clean. It wasn't. Went to run a bath and there was an explosion of mold and gunk off the plug so obviously hadn't been cleaned for ages!!! Cleaned it myself but this should not have happened. As a former housekeeper myself I was disgusted and disappointed by this oversight. The soap and body wash dispensers were also needing cleaned.

On our first night we tried out the adjoining restaurant "The Coach House". The experience was mediocre. There was a good selection of drinks but loud music, dirty seats, over priced food and freezer burnt pastry when they claimed all food was fresh let them down even though the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Even though we used our 20% discount using the Fisher's Passport we still felt like the food wasn't good value.

Fisher's is a very popular bus tour stopping point. One the first day we had booked breakfast for 8am thinking we'd have an early start to be out and about. However due to how busy the breakfast buffet was with 20+ people queuing for tea/coffee/juices and the very basic spread we ended up taking a lot longer! To avoid the crowd we ordered the hot breakfast, an eggs benedict and the salmon with scrambled egg. The eggs benedict was served with thick sliced bacon on freezer burnt muffins and the eggs with the smoked salmon were crispy on top having been left under the heat lamps for too long. The next 2 morning we went down closer to 8:30 and this made enough of a difference to miss the crowds. I tried the salmon again on our last morning and it was much better. Consistency needs work as there was very little. Would have been great if we'd been made aware about how busy beeakfast was anticipated to be so we could have started our day slightly later.

The few positives to our stay was the location. It was perfect for exploring pitlochry and the wider area. The important parts of the room (bed, bedside tables, toilet) were clean but there was a build up of dust etc on the chairs. Staff were all friendly and the offer of a dram on arrival was a nice touch.

Great hotel excellent service throughout from check in until checkout. Big thank you to the general manager and his team. Only down side is we went out to eat at a local Indian restaurant that was terrible. So the next time we come we will be eating in the hotel as the food looked great and when we had breakfast in the morning is was a ten out of ten .

Dicks top tip …. If you are using the hotel car park then don’t arrive at 4 o clock check in and expect to get a space. Come 1 or 2 hours early park up have a drink and then check in at 4.
Also as stated throughout the car park register your car at check in and you won’t get a fine 👍

Dear V7114OVrichardf2, We're delighted to hear that your stay at Fisher's Hotel was such a positive experience, and it warms our hearts to know that our team's efforts in delivering excellent service made a significant impact on your stay. Your compliments towards our general manager and the team are very much appreciated; it's feedback like this that motivates us to strive for the best in what we do. It's unfortunate to hear about your less than satisfactory dining experience at a local restaurant. However, we're pleased you enjoyed the breakfast at our hotel, and we're confident that dining with us during your next stay will be a memorable experience. Your tip regarding the car park is certainly a valuable one for other guests. We appreciate your effort in sharing this insight. It's always recommended to plan for such matters in advance to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience. Looking forward to welcoming you back for another splendid stay and culinary experience at Fisher's Hotel. Best Regards, Brian Wishart General Manager Fisher's Hotel

There was a crowd of us on our annual outing - the place was amazing.
The rooms, were spotless, bed was fantastic and comfy. The pillows were lovely and comfortable, the bedding was fresh and clean. The bathroom was huge, but felt a bit dated but was lovely and clean. The towels was changed daily,
The breakfast was lovely on both days, not lots brought out at once, but the staff was constantly refilling, everything was lovely and fresh, not greasy. The only issue was it was a bit overcrowded at times, it might just need a wee rethink on the layout. See where the bottlenecks are and adapt.
We attended the murder mystery - food was beautiful- maybe a wee bit more veg if any criticism - but very slight comment.
The actual murder mystery was funny, was a tad lost at times, but really enjoyed it.
The staff that I came across was lovely and helpful.
This is definitely a hotel we will return to.
The local area is beautiful,
