Scotland's Spa Hotel receives a mixture of feedback from its guests. The establishment's cleanliness is generally well-regarded, though there have been some inconsistencies noted. Travelers describe the rooms as spacious but often find them to be basic and sometimes unclean. While the pool earns praise, the spa's cleanliness and amenities are deemed outdated by many. Service experiences vary, ranging from friendly to disorganized. Despite the serene atmosphere some guests enjoy, others find the ambiance lacking. The hotel's central location remains a highlight, yet many guests question the overall value for money.

Firstly check in was for 4pm, we arrived at 10 past 4, room wasn’t ready, waited till quarter past 5, no offer of a drink while we waited and no excuse as to why there was a delay.
When we did check in we couldn’t get breakfast till half 10, other times were booked up. And there was no availability for dinner reservations.
This hotel has supposedly won the spa awards- really don’t know why- the changing rooms were dirty with dirty towels lay about - no where in the changing rooms to put them. Nothing to dry swimwear either. The pool is like a fish bowl, they really need to frost the windows and make it a bit more private, the steam room smelt like feet and looked ancient, made of plastic and dirty, lastly the jacuzzi water looked green and filthy, really disappointed. They need a manager or senior member of staff to take responsibility for the spa area and update it and ensure it’s kept clean.
The room was basic, not kept well, had just been cleaned and cleaning sprays left sitting in room. The curtains don’t cover the window, so light really early. Furniture poor with scratches over them. Really dated decor.
The breakfast was good, arriving at 10:30 though the continental was sparse and not topped up the whole time we were there. Cooked breakfast was really good.
Location was good for the enchanted forest, but otherwise I will not be returning. Will look for something else next year. I would not recommend this hotel.

Started off poor has they have no disabled parking and the parking they do have is so narrow we could not open doors properly. We went and asked about how we could park and they agreed we could park in a area zoned off .our king superior room was ground floor and no complaints, very comfy bed ,big TV lovely bathroom and roomy also turned out our car was right outside our window and a little door straight to car. That the end of the good things . While checking in we was pressured to tell them what time we wanted breakfast for the 5 mornings,we said we would just go between the opening times ,that was not allowed we had to pick a time and that was it for the week . Then they needed to know if we wanted to book restaurant for the evenings but wanted us to book there and then .we decided to not bother .
Breakfast time was like a factory canteen mass ppl trying to make coffee ,get cereal, make toast , get juice , then they took your cooked food order ,but beware after ordering hot food it turns up in less than a minute .imo very poorly cooked eggs always hard yolk .bacon swimming in grease .cereals very cheap quality, same with bread for toast cheap thin sliced bread .
They had a lovely selection of fruits ,but the melon was cut into small chunks with skin on . The coffee machine was always running out of things they had jar of honey for toast but 1 guy every morning took it and put it on his table and staff would not take action .
The spa we asked to book treatment but was told it was done online so we went online to book to discover no treatment spaces available during our stay. The pool was nice but changing rooms the gents was never cleaned ,I reported shower trays had empty shower gel bottles and a used razor ,they remained there our full stay .
We used the restaurant 1 night when we asked the reception said they would try and fit us in . We went at 7 and during our 90mins in restaurant we was only ppl in .the meals were very expensive but we found all pitlochery was the same . I was charged £6.95 for a pint of lager . On our last night we got awoken by staff banging on doors then fire alarm was going well got outside to find a foliage under the window was alight obviously caused by someone smoking in there room and throwing the cigarette ends out . On our 2 day I had a bad fall in toilets in house of bruar resulting in me unable to get up for around 20 mins , my wife found me and helped my up because I had a cut elbow and hurt all my back ,in this saga I lost our room key out of my pocket . We got back to hotel my wife went and explained to reception about my accident and losing key ,The receptionist sharply said well that's £50 for key you owe us , never asked how I was ,we did get key back and so didn't get fine for missing keys .
All in all I wouldn't recommend if your used to good hotels

First the positives. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfasts and evening meal we had were good. The facial I booked was superb and I enjoyed the time in the Relaxation Room. The pool is small but we used it early in the morning so it was fine as not busy and the jacuzzi was good. The steamroom was OK but would benefit from some eucalyptus or te tea oil scent. The main negative is the lack of welcome. We felt a bit of a nuisance for turning up a little early which the receptionist commented on. We did not expect access to our room before 3 pm but were not offered the option of having somewhere to leave our bags. The receptionist did not say any words of welcome and did not raise a smile. We both work in customer facing roles and would never greet paying guests in this way. We had an afternoon tea booked and we were served this in the reception area which is a busy thoroughfare, especially at 3pm when guests are checking in. We would have expected an Afternoon Tea to be served in a restaurant area and not in reception. The Afternoon Tea itself was lovely and the lady that served it was also lovely. The hotel in general, including our room could do with some tlc, however we do understand it is an old building and the upkeep of such must be difficult. We appreciated the robe and slippers provided for our spa break. On checking out we were initially asked to pay for our evening meal which was included in the package we paid for, however this was dealt with quickly and sorted. On leaving we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. Our feedback would be to improve the guest experience at reception as this is the first impression of the hotel and was wholly inadequate. As I said we felt we were a nuisance for turning up a little early after travelling. Given that we paid almost £500 for a two night stay we feel a friendly welcome is the very least that should be expected.

I was a bit anxious about going to stay at the hotel after reading some reviews. I really don’t know why!!!
My husband and I had a fantastic 3 nights stay with friends at the hotel enjoying the New Year celebrations.
Wonderful friendly staff who would go above and beyond to ensure that your stay was enjoyable. The Hogmanay party was great, serving amazing food and entertainment to bring in the bells. The owner Fionn from Dublin welcomed the guests at the pre-dinner drinks before heading off to his other 2 hotels in Pitlochry to do the same. Now that did impress me!!
The room was very comfortable with all amenities required. The owner is in the process of upgrading the rooms but they are spotlessly clean and serviced daily.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice of continental and fresh cooked full breakfast. Big shout out to Lori, one of the Managers who never stopped multi tasking, helping all the staff.
The pool, gym and spa area are lovely. I had a lovely back massage by Charlotte on New Year’s morning, followed by a swim, then new year brunch.
The hotel is just round the corner from the Main Street of Pitlochry where there are many shops, bars and restaurants.
The Train station and bus stop are a short walk away. I would not hesitate going back to stay at the hotel ❤️

After reading some of the reviews here I was a bit anxious about staying here with my 2 month old but I'm happy to say I can honestly leave a 5 star review. The hotel was a perfect base for our 4 day adventure. The hotel has character, something we look forward to when coming further north in Scotland. I understand that sometimes this character is something some people don't like but this isn't Edinburgh and Glasgow so to expect high spec is unreasonable and I'd suggest to anyone looking for such a thing to not travel further North in Scotland and definitely avoid the islands 🤣. The breakfast was cooked brilliantly and the portion sizes were great, the staff in the restaurant were always very friendly and spoke to our baby every morning whifh she ofcourse loved. They always made sure we had space for our buggy too. We used the swimming pool too which was the perfect temperature for such a small baby. The spa treatments were a much needed treat and my husband enjoyed the steamroom. The room had everything you needed and we had a view of a quiet little street with trees in the background. The bed was lovely and comfortable and there was a great amount of additional seating (especially to sit and feed the baby at night). We would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be back ASAP.

We arrived to be told we we're in an apartment across the road. Upon arrival, the over powering cleaning products confirmed this was a dog friend apartment and our room was in need of an upgrade. I unfortunately have breathing difficulties but due to only staying one night, I didn't want to cause any upheaval so kept quiet.

However, we were made to feel welcome and the staff were friendly.

Our 12 year old son loved the pool and enjoyed that pool toys were provided to keep him occupied.

We requested an evening meal at the end of food service, the friendy front of house staff honoured our request. The food was delicious and service first class. George the chefs' homemade steak burgers with cheese on top was one of thee best we've ever tasted. #burgersnobs

We will be back to stay in the hotel, but not the apartments unfortunately.

Been to Pitlochry many a time and unfortunately this is by far the worst place we have seen. Run down, a bit stale, average food.
Nice staff though as a positive.

Oh and they say dog friendly, I beg your pardon. Dog is allowed in your room, but not in bar or lounge, so basically dog is stuck in room.
Pitlochry is the most dog friendly town in Scotland and all pubs, coffee shops and even shops let dogs in, come on hotel, get your act together

Good points first. Bed was clean and very comfortable and breakfast was good. I particularly liked having fresh fruit and hot food.
Negative points...where do I start?
We arrived at 1.30 and acknowledged that we were too early but that we were going for a walk and for lunch so would come back later. Reception staff said check in was 3pm.
We returned at 3.40 to be told our room wasn't ready and was still being cleaned. We were asked "Can you give us 10 minutes?" We said no as we were meeting family at 5.15 for a pre theatre meal before going to the Festival Theatre. The girl on Reception did apologise but then completely ignored the fact that my husband was speaking and talked right over him! Not very good customer service. Our room (404) was in the Bank House annexe a short walk up the road. The maid was still cleaning our room at 4.10! She was harassed to death and kept apologising. She was one of only 3 maids tasked with turning around 60 rooms that day!
The ensuite door only closed over part way, curtain was hanging off the pole, there was black mould around the over the bath shower and the whole place needs to be renovated. The maid said she would get someone to have a look at the door but it didn't happen. The next morning there was a male staff member outside our door and he asked did we need anything for our room. We assumed that he was about to service the room and we asked that the tea and biscuits be replenished.
When we returned late afternoon we discovered that the room hadn't been touched. Bed not made, bathroom not cleaned and bins not emptied. However some teabags and biscuits had been thrown onto the dressing table, not put into the tray sitting next to them where they were supposed to be. We spoke to another guest whose experience was exactly the same so not an isolated incident.
Our impression was that the town is busy enough that the hotel don't need to be very particular about any normal standards...not even good customer care.
My family come from Pitlochry and this hotel was always one of the best...but no longer. It's quite sad and very annoying that they charged us £150 per night for such a shockingly poor stay.
Suffice to say that we've complained to Booking.com, we don't recommend this hotel and no, we won't be back.

Meh 2/5 rating

Pros:
Very good location
Staff at reception are quite nice
Free parking
Very quiet, no distribution, plenty bedding and towels
Give you extra towels when going to the pool

Cons:

Bed not comfortable

Carpets are very old and worn, creaks nearly everywhere you walk in the room and the hall

Elevator is very slow

Pool is quite small, one has a steam room that fits 4 and jacuzzi isn’t working?

Breakfast staff don’t talk much, could see the girls sighing after taking orders

Food very bland, 4 cereals to choose from, 2 pastries, tinned fruits and yoghurt

Spa treatments are very overpriced

Windows hardly open

Fan in bathroom gradually gets very loud randomly? Sounds like a plane taking off hah

Only 1 toilet roll, no spares

3rd visit to Pitlochry in little under a year, and second visit to Scotland's Spa hotel. Things were a bit different from the last time, this time we got given a room on the 3rd floor, it involved a bit of a walk to a different lift to get there. Room was a small but nice twin, situated in the attic with sky light windows and a dormer window which afforded a good view over the main street to the hills beyond. The twin beds were comfy and we had no trouble sleeping. Tea and coffee making facilities were in place, and the bathroom (well shower actually) looked very clean and newish. There is a very nice indoor pool which looked very inviting, and a bar alongside reception. Staff were pleasant and polite, especially the manager. Breakfasts were very good, and you had a selection of cooked choices on a menu which were waiter or waitress served, or on tables laid out, a continental type breakfast which was self service. The Hotel is ideally situated just off the main street, with only a short uphill climb to reach it. There is onsite car parking which can get a bit crowded at times. All in all we enjoyed our 2nd stay at this hotel, would we stop there again in the future? Without doubt yes would be the answer, and you can't get a better recommendation than that.
